Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Once I find them, I D scan for ships. Did you not see my post above that shows how to do that?

But again, since you responded to a post about using core scanner probes, core probes don’t help with any of that. You literally open the probe scanner without probes and it gives you all the anomalies.

Core scanners do not let you ‘find’ them. You need to use combat scanner probes to see any ship in a probe scan.

And if you use combat scanners, you shouldn’t need to d-scan to find them.

Year 2019-20?
Maybe another?

/Well maybe not the same award but this change is massive and the impact looks to be major.

Core probes found the anom. I D scan all the anoms till I get a hit for a ship. I then warp in.

They don’t run away from core probes.

combat probes show on d scan the moment i see them on me im out as it means im activley hunnted for and i should not be there therefore i am in no way concerned of probes or even the dsxcan immune ships hell im not even concered with cepters as my personal saftey net deals with that too. you see in order for me to rat witha single super i need to put 4 paid subs out in ships becasue i have a base minimum i do just to mitigate my risk and all are used activley

You don’t need core probes to find the anomalies. They’re automatically warp-able. Anyone can warp to them, even if you don’t have probes or a probe launcher.

Yep. When he moves them in to 0.5 au. When they’re at 64 au, they’re way out of d-scan range. But he’s warping to the nearest celestial to get on you quick, and those combat probes only show at 0.5 au after they complete their scan cycle. Which do you think warps faster, your ratting ship, or his Lachesis? Remember, he’s aligned to the anom and at speed before he pushes the ‘scan’ button.

yeah i failed englihs was always ■■■■ at it so do what i can but cant be ■■■■■■ to spend 3 hours on a reply

So you use D-scan, so you’re immediately less likely to get ganked. So, what’s the issue?

I must be using my terminology wrong then. Sorry, my bad but it works for me.

This is incorrect, probes can be dscanned at their new location after probewarp at the beginning of the scan cycle.

I have never found that to be the case, but that could be an issue of latency.

Just have to say this after seeing alot of players have typed " I will unsubb all of 3 - ∞ accounts"
My thought: YES! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: There goes all of the alts
Can we now get more of a “one character only”? That way people have to learn to play as a team instead of playing the game with a ∞ ammounts of accounts and alts and have an entire empire of their own.
Get ridd of the alts! This is the best solution as well to get ridd of the bots! = No need for THE CODE to exist anymore + Better markets and so on.

“Don’t let the door hit you on your way out” - There is no need to mention this at all… This mindset of the eve players, atlest most of them… Should considder that that attidude and mindset is what the new players don’t tend to like. Therefore we do not get alot of new players into this game as well. (just one factor)

because without local there is absoluley no defence or way to mitigate cloaky campers from dropping 200 bombers on me. its the only issue i have with this change i said it once i said it before i said it multiple times its the only problem. if a way to mitigate or defend against this is available i will support it fully. currently if i log in and see neuts in local i sit down and do research on them look up recent kills and loses see how they are fit figure if they drop anything of concern decide if i need to avoid ratting that day etc its how i mitigate the risk since i still cannot defend against the risk it poses. with that said if i had the ability to at the very least know about a cloaky camper in system weather friendly or neut (don’t even have to be told that i would 100% support this just in place of number count put cloaks in use). really I’m not opposed to increase risk i would find ways of risk mitigation like i always do but at end of day this change as currently laid doesn’t allow me to mitigate in any way the risk of cloaky campers.

True, though in my experience gate camps have a disappointing lack of discipline and either people get bored of having to wait more than 2 minutes and leave, or they jump through the gate and try and chase the targets about, get tackled and then cry about how nobody helped them when they die.

Don’t miss that gameplay at all, not because it wasn’t fun, but because at some point if every fleet has that one douchebag in it, no fleets are fun.

This is true too, it was frustrating to have to ping to get people into the game to form up for a hostile fleet, wait for them to close out their neflicks or their tentacle-hub and get their eve client running. If I didn’t ping they would complain about there not getting any PvP opportunities, if I did ping there was no way they’d be ready and in place to have a chance of winning the fight.

Bless those who report intel, but damn, Intel from people who are docked in a citadel tends to be just awful. At least of out a POS it was possible to get a d-scan and have a small hint of what the composition was of the 10 ship gang that entered the region, if anything this change will show which groups are competent enough to get eyes on all the right gates or show those who hold territory because their fleets are full of F1 muppets who only log on for a few hours of rabid button pounding.

Interdictors are another problem, those interdiction probe launchers aught to have a weapons timer and that they don’t is just another example of a long standing insidious mechanic that is broken, yet accepted as normal.

yeah but the moment i see then im out and i always have two exits first exit cyno second alinged out to ks

Be on comms.
Have a cyno fitted.
Be in an area where a standing fleet is ready to drop faxes to save you.
Don’t be dumb.

There you go.

Oh i’ve heard about it all, i have many sources of information.

I heard how many FC have been screaming blue murder in fleet channels, and even cases of FC’s leaving their fleets to die as they run away.

It clearly shows many got into their positions not be knowledge or skill of the game…

In some ways this is a good thing for the corp and alliance leaders, as its weeding out the bad players and showing them up as useless and no capable of the roles they’ve been given.

I see many mega corps doing some major retooling of roles within their own corps, and finding out whose loyal to the leadership and corp, and whose just there for a free ride.

thats defence theres always the defence to the problem but the same way dscan is used to mitigate risk you should have a simular way with cloaky campers.

aaaand then you describe a thing that, among the big blocs, literally has happened like once in the last couple of months when Killah was drunk.

I think your ‘sources’ are ‘rumors’ and you’d be well-advised to treat them skeptically.
