Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

The POINT is to keep screwing over ns players, overall.

ehm crimson … how long do you play this game? ALL tyrannos ships are jove empire ships. when you go into wormhole jove space and and dare to attack a jovian structure will you have in a matter of seconds a battleship on your tail. there are pictures all over the net where the jovians shown “their face” where the “leaders of the jove” got named aswell. and those battleships have the names of jovian leaders. so please … ya can stop to defy even ccp now which shown the jovian leaders on their own.

its simple. they are now rady for war and god it would be amazing if nullsec shakes even more like a huge earthquake under the threat of the jove empire. i mean, maybe HS will be again “more safe” to live in right? xD when the blackout comes is HS probably for sure more safe then nullsec.

Nobody smacked them. Caroline’s Star was a perfectly natural supernova that hit a Dyson Swarm (which we, IC, do not know) that was powering a whole lot of crap, including the Jove stargates.

Theres this game you might like by the name of “Call of Duty” where you can PvP all the time and it doesn’t even cost ISK or a monthly sub!

Oh, that’s right, those kinds of games aren’t as fun because everyone is equally armed and the teams are balanced to prevent 1 v 10 ‘fights’ from ruining the experience.

i have played this game since beta almost continuously and i remember how awesome it was to roam before intel channels became a thing, but that time is over now.

we have a place in game for people who want no local, its called wormhole space, anyone can go into it and live and play.

0.0 is not wormhole space and trying to make it that way is not a smart idea.

I know a lot of bitter vets, the group of us that is left from IRON and still play, keep in contact and none of us like this idea even as an event. just turning it off because “storyline reasons” for an unknown amount of time is probably the worst idea anyone has ever had at CCP and that includes the whole cash shop idea AND when a decade ago the story line people used guristas dreadnaughts to screw with the invasion of IRON/G into Tribute by reinforcing all of our POS’s in the middle of the night and when we complained for a week over it - instead of the story people using the serpentis to RF our enemy’s POS’s to make us even for screwing up we got offered 25 megathrons 25% off. Such balance.

It would be one thing if their was a EVENT site to protect to keep local going or some event to gather resources to get it back on as quickly as possible , some sort of goal would be interesting and fun but thats not what this is. This is “we want to turn it off to watch chaos happen even though only a vocal minority wants this at all (generally your cloaky camping crowd) because we simply have no idea how to get people to engage in our story lines in an impactful way”

Also the timing of this is about as bad as you can possibly pick, you have 2 major blocks deployed in wars in both in the south and the north and instead of trying to push these wars everyone has to run back to protect from NPC’s who give no reward what so ever and are just a massive time sink and on top of it now locals gone for who knows how long. I’m sure some idiot will come behind and post and say “well you don’t have to stop waring blah blah blah” thats not how this works and it will never work the way you want it to work, the majority of people will quit the game before the small minority that is left over even attempts to play it that way.

I will give this until my accounts resub to have local back up and going again, no new structure required to get it back, if its not back fully by then, count me in for -4 subs until its back and its more like -120 accounts between me and my bitter vet group. IF you guys had any sense at all at this point, you would cancel this idea and apologize just like you did with the 5$ skill point ■■■■ up.

Heres an idea(if used please deposit 10,000 plex onto my account):

Figure out a proper event for the capital system of each region and if the players win that day local stays for the whole region + lots of OUTSTANDING rewards, if they lose it goes down in that region for a day and no rewards, each capital system defended gives points towards a global war goal and once the goal is finished the drifters retreat from 0.0 and everyone cluster wide gets more outstanding rewards

p.s i wouldn’t mind a structure for local but the only way i would accept a structure required for local is if they can be put into NPC systems as well as sov claimable systems AND these structures have an anti-cloaking field that can be turned on and off at will that stops cloaks from functioning in the system. Any ship that is decloaked by the structure would be warp scrambled for 60 seconds and their sublight engines wouldn’t work either, just like a titan’s DD. They would also show up on the overview as a warpable beacon like a cyno. If people want to cloaky camp, they will have to reinforce these structures and then kill them in every system they want to camp, of course the alliance they are camping can put a new one down and online it at any point as well.

Took the time to track down what you referred to… so similar names and appearances… and a reference to a ancient legacy… interesting, ever think that legacy is biomedical, a Jovian specialty, to resolve the assumed reason for the Sleeper’s “sleep” ? (a contagion that was infectious unlike the Jovian disease) would explain the similarity in look and may also give some meaning to their name as well (seeing themselves as the inheritors of the role the Jove of old had: of peacekeepers/guardians, just with a peace of the tomb sort of meaning).

Now be more respectful next time you reply to me.

Caroline’s Star wasn’t natural though.

Like if the Drifters just want body parts, why don’t they just camp Jita?

They want bodies not salt and officer mods.

in wormholes, we have something called swiss cheese. it refers to a system with a lot of holes in it. its not uncommon for there to upwards of 6 holes in a system. in fact shattered wormhole systems can have far more than that.

more gate camps \o/

I’ll just say this more before signing off for the evening: EVE lore is significantly more deep than you would believe. The Jove aren’t the answer to the question of where the Drifters came from… they may not even be anything more than a vessel that carried something else until the Drifters took it possibly during the events of Carolina’s Star. All I can say is that… the Drifters and Sleepers are in Abyssal Space besides the Triglavians and the Sleepers much like the Rogue Drones are automata, think what that implies when you also factor in the titles given to Triglavian ships and weapons (precursor).

Odds are the Drifters are a reborn form of the flesh and blood Sleepers who themselves predate the Jovians by possible centuries if not more (we only know the Joves had a relatively short period compared to other factions but the main modern 4 had what? 4000 years? that means short can be even 1000).

No.

Frigate cyno’s in Carrier. Carrier kills frigate, frigate pilot gets in battleship stored in the carrier, lights another cyno.

That’ll be what happens, and that’ll be gameplay rightly described as annoying.

… Your suggesting that by eliminating one of a bots three sources of Intel, local which is a bots most important one, will somehow improve its ability to avoid a human capable of critical thinking? Tell me. How does a ratting bot avoid my cloaked Falcon if it can’t use local and therefor has absolutely no way of knowing I’m there? A human will ask around before and after they undock but a bot can’t use chat without sounding vaguely like a bot.

Never happens. Language barriers, the 31337 PvP players in one tz getting all the action and denigrating the other zones for being PvP enough…

I think a few more should watch this, well worth it, maybe they might learn more about things from older wiser players.

Sure there’s things a don’t agree with, that they say, but it’s a free world, everyone is allowed their own personal point of view.

But still a good twitch to watch.

Local is still there and the cloaky camper can always occasionally say ‘hello’ just to remind them he’s there

OK. Then I’ll suggest that a cyno doesn’t need a ship to stay lit and it remains for a short time after its depleted. Either prevents another cyno within large range. Bypassing gates shouldn’t be fast and easy without infrastructure. It furthermore shouldn’t be able to move a huge supercap fleet instantly. There needs to be risk especially when it’s a massive move op. Your sounding super privileged. Must be from a bloc? Even with my suggestions moving solo or with a couple friends is still piss easy. I lived in null for over a year and never lost a carrier from any of my moves.
