Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Ratters and miners don’t undock combat ships, so local has to go, in order to give them less opportunity to do so.

Makes sense.

Look, just admit it: you’re not looking for that even fight you claim is so exciting. If you were, that’s easy to get. Just talk to people and arrange one. You’re looking for victims… and within EVE, that’s fine. Just be honest about it. Here, watch, it goes like this:

When we went north to glass Tribute, we weren’t looking for some grand existential struggle that would pit our forces in a desperate battle against an equal opponent. We went up there to curbstomp them like they were a deadbeat who wouldn’t pay their debts, and we were a bunch of loan sharks.

No because it forces them to adapt and have combat ships on the ready.
Being able to dock up when an enemy comes in reinforces the idea of not having to defend next time either.

Ofc I want a good fight killing VNI’s was fun at first because it was challenging but now its boring as hell.

Funny , indeed put it simple Risk to reward , the Risk no longer will justify the reward, Having fun in the game , this is important to just seems the game Devs can never balance this out.

If it is no longer fun then why play, this is more the real question.

How does getting tackled with no notice force them to have combat ships on the ready? The guy you tackled dies, and everyone else? Docks up. They wait an hour. Once you guys haven’t gotten any blood for like 45m, you get bored and go elsewhere.

That’s just as sad as now, I guess the attacking group can just hold dps until people arrive, but then the guy will probably self destruct instead of calling for help.

So then if that small strike group has something to shoot that would cause uncomfort for a few hours afterwards for the ratters would they then form up to defend their space.

Was about to simply cancel 2 of my 3 accounts because of this and dont say anything about it on the forums. But i figured i might aswell risk the wrath of the toxic pvp elitists on here to give my 2 cents about these changes instead:

Removing local chat in 0.0 is a bad move. I dont want to live in WH space, like many other have pointed out. If i whanted WH space, i would move to WH space.

Unsubbing my alt accounts for now, if this doesnt change; unsubing my main account is not entirely out of the question aswell.

I think there is a silent majority in 0.0 who doesnt come to the forums to tell you what they think of the 0.0 local changes, but they disslike it just as badly as i do.

There are people who like these changes, that is fair enough. That is their preference. Their playstyle is best suited to no local chat system.

What worries me in all of this is a few things:

  1. It seems to me that the silent majority of 0.0 players dont bother to even post anything on these forums because they get spammed down by loudmothed toxic elitist anyways. So why bother, right? Posting here, now, about this change, seems to be a bit like posting a sermon about sin and salvation on the Richard Dawkins forums…see how well that works for ya.

  2. From what ive seen on these forums, i couldn’t help but notice, that the people who like these changes are the loudmouthed minority. The “Elitists” if you will. They rarely offer any good reasons for why this change would be good for 0.0 or eve as a whole other then speculations of what “Might happen in the future” with these changes. Speculations. I predict alot of 0.0 dwellers like me will simply move on to other games in silence.

  3. Alot of the elitists on this forum deem themselves as better players then those who disslike this change. And in lack of good arguements in favour of this change, they resort to strawmaning those who dissagree with their point of view, and if that doesnt work: [Insert ad hominem attack here].

  4. Some of the “loudmouths” in favor of this change, post alot. Especially on reddit, but allso here to try to influence CCP’s decision making. And im worried CCP cant see through that and think “oh, this is the majority view”. I dont believe it is.

Local chat is part of the game. If it isnt broke dont fix it. And quit taking toxic loudmouths seriously.

Would you still see it as a bad thing if CCP removed Local from nullsec but allowed nullsec people to build a none reinforcable (no timers) structure that gives local back, but when killed takes 2 hours to replace.

Would you feel a structure like that would be worth defending.

How long will you wait? I promise, however long that is, we’ll be there longer anyway. We live there.

And if you just tackle the guy and hold him? Congratulations, you’re basically telling everyone he’s on comms with ‘I HAVE A DREAD BOMB WAITING’, because that’s damned suspicious behavior. So your ‘even fight’ is gonna be a dozen titans dropping on top of you, with more on standby for the dreads.

You can’t force people to play the way you want them to. That’s the basic disconnect here that will never change. It’s why I said what I did about the sheep/wolves/wolfhound personality types. How this plays out, in the long term, in the broader strokes, is just the same as ever. To use another analogy, frontiers get settled, and civilized, and the frontiersmen have to either settle down as well… or move on.

Edit: and again, don’t get me wrong here. I’m not saying ‘lol, get rekt’ or anything moronic like that. You don’t have to like it. I don’t have to like it. Our approval is not a factor in this. This is how humanity works. Always has been. And for the foreseeable future, always will be.

Not like alts are a thing in this game demonstrated in this thread once or twice by others.

coughs If you are a different person… then my faith in humanity is somewhat diminished by that tier of ineptitude being shared with such similarity.

That’s what I don’t understand thou, a good fight is the hardest thing to find in this game to me it would be more logical to form a counter fleet of equal strength and go have fun, if there is suspicion of dreads have capitals on standby just in case.

Dropping dreadbomb’s and titans on sub cap’s is boring, waiting and loosing a golden opportunity is boring too.

You are an elitist prick and no, I post on my main, you where speaking to someone else.

i dont get it…

Nice local bot fix \0/
Tnx!

I’m not a nullsec resident and I didn’t see this change as necessary, but I’m generally in favor of it.

The reason for it as best as anyone can tell isn’t about PvP, at least not directly. It’s about the nullsec economy. Enough ISK and minerals are being produced in nullsec, Delve in particular, to throw the entire economy of EvE out of balance. The two primary results of this imbalance have been the inflation of PLEX prices in terms of ISK cost, and the overwhelming eocnomic might of The Imperium (Goonswarm and allies who live in Delve). This change, in theory, makes it harder to mine and rat in nullsec safely and thus reign in the Delve powerhouses.

Do I buy this logic? Not sure. The Imperium is nothing if not creative, and with the vast resources at their disposal I suspect that they will come up with a way to keep their economic might in tact. But I think smaller groups will suffer, which will only make the existing imbalance worse. On the other hand, it should also mess up ratting/mining botters, which are another huge source of inflation.

So, bottom line: Who’s to say? I for one plan to sit back and watch the fireworks, and maybe venture back out into nullsec for the first time in close to a decade.

I’ve got mixed feelings for this change. I like both worlds - I like to build stuff and I like to blow up stuff, and I love the Submarinewarfare in Wormholes. So, let’s cmompare Nullsec with Wormholes:

Wormhole:

-“Delayed” Local
-only a fixed amount of Mass can fit through a Wormhole depending on the WH-Size
-No Stargates
-Wormhole Entries collpase after a specific amount of Mass or Time and spawn somewhere else
-High Risk, High Reward Ratting, especially Class 5 & 6 Wormholes (2b+ isk/h with a Dread fittet for 6b)
-Hard to Locate
-You can’t jump into a WH with a Jump Drive
-No Supercapitals
-Moongoo

Nullsec:

-Has Stargates
-Supercapitals
-Moderate to High Risk, Low Reward Ratting (Compared to J-Space Ratting) 200m isk/h with a 20b+ Ship
-Moongoo
-Easy to reach with Cynos
-Cloaky Camping
-Enemy can bring in infinite reinforcements

I can understand that people are angry, since pretty much every Nerf in the last few years affected only
Players living in Null. Supercapital Ratting is pretty much pointless compared to Dread-Ratting in J-Space. Risking 20 Billion ISK for 200 mio isk/h compared to 6 billion ISK for 2 BILLION+ ISK/h is just a joke, especially with the broken Drifters in Null at the Moment. Also, people who are living in J-Space don’t need to worry about getting hotdroped, and cloaky camping is already a pest in Nullsec without a real Countermechanic.

I’m an Industrialist, and I do 95% of my crabbing by daytripping to empty Wormholes, so this event won’t affect me, but I can understand the anger from the Miners/Ratters.

If this Event will be permanent I fear that this great game might loose 50% of the Playerbase and will die eventually. As an Event only however I think this will be great.

Sincerly,

Renegade Void

Do not try to make a victim of yourself, even in PVP fittings, a super carrier earns 250kk+ isk / h. And that’s not counting the respawn rare NPC and escalation.
You don’t even need to do anything, just click on the undock from the Kipstar and press the warp. See how much work needs to be done for those who live in WH ?

Who are you trying to cheat about bad earnings at 0.0 ??

wow 50 mills more per /h risking a 25b++++ to a hotdrop anytime that makes the diffrence…
