Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

+1 to this.

Same experience so far and we’ve had more guys in the Alliance logging in to roam null since the change.

That’s a pretty small impact for so large a change. Thanks.

Fights were always there, didn’t need blackout to have them, except if you’re a chicken.

So basically all you’re saying is “stop enjoying yourself while playing a video game!!” :joy:

Lol I love how this conversation has gone…

“Learn to use DSCAN noobs!” (ships don’t show up on dscan)

“Well work in a group!” (people have to camp on you while you mine/rat)

“Set up bait!” (doesn’t account for spies)

“Again work together then!” (doesn’t account for ship being alphad by sb fleet)

“Get good noobs” (rinse repeat)

You forgot “put scouts on gates” (what’s the point, we already know the cynodropper is in), “stay aligned” (no right to miss the second cyno goes up), and “this works in our wormhole” (try it if your wormhole was a constellation)

Anyway why is it that when someone is super salty, they tend to start wall papering their posts with emojis?

It’s weird, right?

Considering, all the people that supposedly resubbed it is pretty significant. Unless people were lying. Like I said it is to early to tell but the trend is down not up. As a Business person I look at what changes in my company ultimately affect my company. That change better be great because when I lose more costumers then I satisfy it is called getting fired. if those 2k costumers were paying per month that is 20K loss. Not because they did something wrong. No, because of what my company did that drove them away. That is a large impact

Rather similar… had a couple joins in past couple days to enjoy the fun and a departure who wanted to roam some blingy ships . Last night more on comms than in weeks doing what we always do–indy, mining, local security roam–couple got the screen through, including a T3 cruiser that didn’t expect the miners to fight back and kill him. Fun all around. So many ideas how to make things safer as well. If this is reflective of how blackouts going to be–it’s going to be a blast!

Yeah, consistently down 10% is a ‘small’ impact.

And if all those people saying they were re-subbing for this actually did? Then the actual numbers once they get bored again are even lower.

I’m still curious to see how many of those are bots. Frat space is damn near empty at the moment, and other bot heavy areas are also reported to have a serious downturn in activity. It looks very easily like they can be accounting for a very sizable chunk of the ‘missing’ player numbers. I highly doubt we’ve had anywhere near enough time to see how many actual bears will stay logged off.

Besides, as I’ve said before, there’s literally no downside to losing bots and any ratters so worthless that they unsub over not having perfect intel safety.

Quality over quantity, when the ones disappearing are the ones with negative value to the game. Like that Platypus guy.

Just like any other non-umbrella nullsec space. I’m your missing activity and I do not bot.

Was never the case.
Now ganktards have perfect safety, why don’t you peck them?

You mean the ones subbing when the risk was removed from them, who will unsub again once it’s only 99% safe again?
So. Much. Quality.

“trivially agitated” lol

Nah, the ones who’ve unsubbed because it’s no longer perfectly safe for them and who’ll only resub when it becomes perfectly safe again so they can leech off the game and RMT away.

We don’t need them back and lots of roaming fleets fighting other roaming fleets at the moment.

Unfortunately, it will all settle down and the true krabs will be back, but hopefully never as safe as they were.

Honestly with CCP’s attitude towards it’s playerbase I’m not sure simply turning local back on at the end of this fiasco is going to make much difference.

++ to the CSM [which has been the problem for years] for likely having some part in this.

I agree getting rid of botters is great. Unfortunately there are people that actually play the game in Eastern Europe and some in China that 15 dollars per month is significant so they rat and mine to pay for their account(s) through plex. That fact you mentioned Frat space being empty, considering all the players that came from serenity, and are not logging in does not look good for the game. You can say all you want about quality but when this game closes for good it does not matter. I played this game for almost ten years. I have stopped playing maybe a few times do to real life circumstances but I have always wanted to comeback. Not once have I felt compelled to give up the game until this change. I don’t rat much I have tried the semi afk VNI ratting. Found it to be boring. Did carrier ratting then realized super ratting was better. Put 2 characters in rorquals and was able to get a titan. I have not ratted or mined much in the past 7 months since I pay for my accounts and have a titan and good amount of isk.
I unsubbed my accounts, 2 end this month, because; 1) CCP has chosen to listen to the vocal minority. 2) There are more issues to fix in this game before local was removed. 3) there are people that don’t bot but play so they can pay. 4) Because it ultimately screws over people trying to get into 0.0. 5) It hurts new players trying to get into a titan like what I went through. 6) because, I do enjoy this game and feel it is on the wrong path.

No one is saying there shouldn’t be changes, just that they’re balanced, and giving someone an opportunity to remain totally safe while hunting isn’t balanced. It puts all the risk on the ratter with minimal risk to the hunter, which makes no sense and is completely unbalanced

but what’s worse is they had this meeting and they pushed the changed through anyway – i feel like they’ve shown us the door.

Except krabs were not NEARLY as safe as ganktards, because they have to use shitty pve ship, can’t cloak, have to risk ship with an actual cost, and deal with other stupid ganktard-assisting mechanics like weapon timers and ■■■■■■■ tether.

Krabs are much better than those who subbed for this.

It was years of nerfs to safety, but ganktards who are supposed to be the driving force, only do so when they are 100% safe, 99% safe is not enough for the chicken ganktards.
