Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Well. Unsubbed, relocated, logged off. Now we wait.

The longer they leave it without announcing the reverse, the more likely I’m going to like all this free time and not return.

Ha, didn’t think cold turkey could work when giving up addictions.

thanks babe <3

Yeah but with this update what are you watching with your 12 accounts :stuck_out_tongue:?

we will get through this bro, Im thinking its time the community takes over what ccp has managed to slowly destroy the last couple of years. Private servers ppl rollback to a proper time, no brainless ccpcancer!! Free Eve its time for a revolution!!

As a casual high sec player, I don’t feel any effect so far. HS lvl4’s are working fine, so is t3 abyss space, and if close by the trigs invasion is a good laugh.

What is quite funny from a lot of these post is the, what seems genuine, audacious belief that null sec players are so needed or important, that the game wont work without you. I always though the lore/RP lot had more influence of the games direction.

Traditionally it’s cowards that form gangs as they are too weak to deal with problems themselves, but those of the null groups that are embracing this and have swiftly changed combat stance are starting to make me think there are some out there in null with balls. This is the time to show them.

How about “Incoming Communication Surge” where Blackout occurs for 10 minutes here and there each day? That solves the bot issue right? Then those actual players can still do PvE and Mining without a fleet covering each and every gate.

I just discovered that watching cat licking herself for 40min. is more exciting than EvE sins Blackout…hmm …imagine that. … What’s this?.. a book…UUuuU… Aaaaa

Well, it’s what you make out of it, isn’t it? If you can’t find stuff to do with local gone, then maybe it’s your lacking imagination.

And, if you set up your sound right and ‘look at’ the gate from close up, it’s very easy to hear when someone comes through - even if that client window is hidden on the screen.

We’re talking same E:D ?

No, you don’t. In Eve your ONLY ‘right’ is to be re-born every time you die. Everything else is up to you to find a way to acheive.

I think it is comical that the fighter jock wanna bee’s think CCP did this for them…common sense not so common…

Awesome. Thanks CCP for this Event.
Its not compareable to other Agency Events which took place over the last years. Its bigger!
Just the fact that reddit, zkillboard and even dotlan as 3rd party communicaiton platforms are involved, makes this event huge. There is also a story behind it…so it didnt appear out of nowhere, there is a reason for that to happen (drifter invasion in 0.0 manipulating the Intel Service of Concord for 0.0).

These facts alone change the game a lot. You are part of a creative event which impacts a whole region of playstyle in EVE - which is therefore the biggest change since…I play. To be honest, its fantastic. Normally it felt like: CCP is playing that sandbox card in order to hold back from content creating stuff other than new ships, ships balancing, building stuff, etc. but since a year or so a lot stuff happened that made the game more and more interessting. Good job!

This time its something bigger. It has a story, we dont know for how long this will stay this way. Nullsec becomes what it actually is: a dangerous place to be, far away from save NPC supported regions. Players need skill to live in 0.0, players have to build, organize and defend themselves…left alone. Some may argue that this, what I state here, was like it since beginning, but in times of botting and an overwhelming force of highsec-skilled like 0.0 inhabitants, I really have to deny that.
What do I mean with highsec-skilled like 0.0 inhabitants? I dont mean the overall organizing skills, like people in alliance lead roles or corporation lead roles need to have. I talk about the individual skills a player needs to have at minimum to be able to live in 0.0. Using a d-scan is not needed at all, since you only need to read out the “intel”. If you take this statement and look into lowsec, there nearly everyone is able to use the d-scan. Also in 0.0 giving intel by yourself is not even necessary. You need to learn the 4-6 connected system names of yours and then, if some hostile gets reported - warp into safety. In earlier days (about 8 years ago) you were told to always warp via gate-spots if you travel with your ships around, today they warp directly. Noone is interessted in getting more knownledge of the interaction between himself/herself and the environment. All they need to know is: how to perfectly orbit an anomaly with a speedtank/selfrepp and with an automated weaponsystem like drones. And if it comes to the point you are more than a renter (renter usually are not skilled enough to take part in defending/attacking fleets) and you are forced to participate in a fleet, its so strict organized that you are only need to be able to do the following 4 steps: 1. add pilots to watchlist 2. approach pilots on watchlist 3. read history of broadcasts 4. lock and shoot broadcastet stuff. Advanced pilots in 0.0 know how to light a cyno and drop their cap-chars on a target. Improved pilots are able to provide a detailed intel consisting of how many players flying in which ships from point A to B.

In other words. 0.0 is - jeah, depending on which group of players you participating - the most safe region in game. This event is like a mirror to these players. Do I really belong here? What have I missed in understanding the game and its mechanics?

I just can hope that CCP is really thinking about keeping this blackout forever. I hope the story continues, while triglavian invasion take place in highsec and lowsec, drifters continue to invade nullsec.
Its good base material for a continueing story.

The only thing that I would change maybe some tools like getting a 30min delayed local intel which can only be provided by a keepstar and costs XXX million ISK a day and has a X-system range, which also costs the keepstar like all of its firepower. Story could be that concord leaked the base codes of their intel service so that some inventing corporations were able to contribute technology to withstand the drifters malware (or something totally different).

Really great work CCP. This way EVE Online become more alive than we used to know it for years.
Also big thanks to the 3rd party Intel hosting websites who are participating to the blackout event.

Leaving the sandbox alone, without dev-made content changes will only lead into stagnation (like we saw over the last years) - even though most content in game is still generated by the players. Players like a changing world, so that they can adapt their playstyles to it and mainly to have a new task, a new reason to log in.

Предлагаю оставить в космосе корабли выходящих из игры людей (пусть докаются). и топливо для маскировки.
Чужие Нули станут еще опаснее.
Эти 2 изменения могут компенсировать отсутствие локала.

The blackout doesn’t turn null into wormhole space, it turns it into lowsec aka small scale PvP land (outside of the big bloc super cap umbrellas, players in the big blocs are dpong nothing different).

Problem is, low sec already exists…

I recently left one of the biggest alliances to go back to my small group. Because of how I work (at night) I tend to play in the AUTZ when there are not many of my folks about. With local I can defend myself (doesnt always work, my killboard will confirm, but losong stuff if how eve works). Without local I have to go cheap, and fly pvp fit ships to do pve.

No big deal, ive been doing that for years when I had to. Problem with that though is high sec still exists, where I can simply log in an alt and do burners and Abyssals in total safety while making a ton of isk. Why risk null for one when that’s possible?

If it weren’t for having that alt, I’d have to consider rejoining that big alliance with the 24 hour super cap umbrella, just to play the game with some kind of viable defense.

That will probably be the legacy of the blackout, that time when ccp pushed ever more players to join the likes of goons/test.

i just want to know are we getting the local back or not? i’m either leaving null, going Low sec or just quit game completely. i can’t take care of 2 kids and shake watching local all day… No way i can make sustainable isk for pvp ships this way.

Well, maybe you should quit. Do your 2 kids know you are BluntBlowin? Must be hard to take care of them while you are baked as well.

nope makes it alot easier!
