Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

“plenty” isn’t enough when they’re being replaced so quickly that big blocs spit them out like they’re worthless. Really, all ship losses should count for something, but especially capitals. As of right now, it’s simply too easy and too safe to farm massive amounts of minerals. Being at your keyboard should not guarantee you safety, engaging gameplay is a necessity.

Go away with short jerky motions…

lmao watered down as of late? It’s literally had many of the same mechanics for 16 years… What you want is to water it down so it’s easier to get kills…if anything that’s “watering it down”…

Lol.

You should not have a chance as a solo player to kill a single ship of an organisation, that sees you miles ahead. You should work together or hunt in lowsec. That’s what lowsec is for.

I’m a member of a nullsec corp, and losec is too distant to be practical.

Then increase the mineral requirements, increase limitations for getting them, there are plenty of easy ways to adjust for that, but simply removing coordination from a game because the “solo/1-3 players” are mad they aren’t having an impact is catering to a very very very small portion of the game… If you don’t like real world politics/simulation in a game, NULL probably isn’t where you should have been to begin with… lot more piracy and easy kills in Low/High-Sec with war decs and suicide ganks…

Yes absolutely, Being solo vs potentially thousands i should have a landslide disadvantage… But that disadvantage should come from people undocked and in space. Not from watching local from inside your keepstars…

lol I don’t know what game you were playing, but NULL has always been about coordination. And honestly aside from having to bookmark warp in points on gates that really hasn’t changed much… not in terms of the small player roams…

Increasing mineral costs won’t work if the minerals are easy to get, all you’re asking for is more botting and more afk mining.
PvE and industry needs to be engaging just like PvP, and a simple fix is to make it so they have to use d-scan at the very, absolute least.
How can you actively defend the idea that nullsec needs to become MORE lifeless and AFK?

Again that requires a lot more action from one side than the other. What you’re saying is you expect people should be forced to hang around waiting for you to show up. When on your end you can simply go as you please…do what you want, they should just be there…heaven forbid you sit afk in a system just waiting, so much more action required…

dscan doesn’t work for cloaked ships…which is the current meta given the blackout… why wouldn’t it be? Just like you shouldn’t be able to “AFK” null sec to make money you shouldn’t be able to do the same to take it from others… and as long as cloaks are viable (no changes expected for that in any future) then you’re asking one group to be significantly more active while the other does very little… that’s not balanced either…

You mean like people do in wormhole space without the benefits of fixed entrance points? Lets not pretend that this is a game people play with one account. Because we all know that isnt true. It isnt hard to put eyes on a gate. If you cant do it. Im sure one member of the local corp/ alliance can.

Cynos are an issue but everyone knows most groups have their own capitals ready ready to respond to anything valuable in danger. Woe betide any conflict break out in the ratting space.

And so you communicate with your allies, use scouts, etc. You do what people do in wormhole, which is actually play the game. Cloaks don’t work on holes, gates, and structures. And nullsec even has engagement timers!
I know, playing with other players in an online game is a wild idea.

eyes on a doesn’t work in A. systems with 3+ gates, or B. cloaked campers… literally all you have to do is take an sb cloak in a site and wait…no action required…someone shows up easy kill… That’s literally afk pvping, and no better than the botters or afk farmers… people are just happy about it b/c it’s the haves vs the havenots, and right now the pvpers are the haves (I can do this easily, low risk, and little interaction)

lol again says the guy defending the point about “solo pvp” you’re literally talking out of both sides of your mouth with that one. “You should have to work together” Null uses intel channel works together. . . . “You shouldn’t be able to work together so easily because as a solo player that makes it hard”

Lorewise CCP should have raised the needed minerals to manufacture ships, structures and modules with every balance pass around 20-25%. A Titan nowadays should be around 4-500B, not 50B.

And it still is! Even more so, now that you have to rely on your compatriots to make a little bit more of an effort than simply dragging a name from one chat channel to the other if you want reliable intel.

This is probably one of the best gameplay buffs to teamwork and coordination we’ve seen in a while.

Engaging == using dscan like a bot, smashing that button for dear life? Seems legit.

Not

And yet, what are most people doing? Sitting afk in a station because your expectation is “they should have to do a lot of work to stop me” and “i should have to do very little to be able to have fun”
