This isn’t a bad change - I’m ok with not knowing that “Hey, ‘Skippy McMuffinpants’ just jumped in and he’s a 3yo character in an enemy alliance…” even though I’m 43 AU away from him via local chat.
I’d now like to see some additions/adjustments to DScan - at least let it work like IFF so I can filter out my corp/fleetmates within the scan distance. IFF in DScan would be a vast improvement from a playability standpoint. Or maybe buff some ships for an intel improvement. Maybe only certain ships can see that info. But I’d certainly like it and see no reason why I shouldn’t be able to see corp/alliance/fleetmates in system w/ me. Even friendly probes could be seen so you aren’t repeatedly headed to base when your friend is keeping watch and probing.
Maybe also make the gatefire a detectable anomaly so you can tell a ship jumped in, but not who or what w/o seeing it on DScan. Jumping certainly uses a lot of energy, maybe we should still get some sort of indication that a ship jumped in/out without telling you exactly who/how many jumped in like the instalocal chat.
This actually makes the blackout being permanent tolerable in my opinion. Since Dscan is essentially radar why not give it the ability to pick up IFF or transponders just like in real life aviation.
As for the gates, maybe just the more ships that go through the strong or brighter (noticeable) the light or something is then fades over time
Blackout is a lose/lose scenario where it will be lower production AND destruction.
The production will shift to rorqs completely under umbrella, if you don’t have rorqs and umbrella, you are no longer capable of production, and you have nothing to destroy with or be destroyed as a consequence.
And it isn’t really about mineral prices either. The only major production in null is caps and supers, and the cost of it varies with not mineral prices, but ISK/hour of general nullsec activity. With blackout, ISK/hour not under umbrella is 0, and under umbrella it stays roughly the same, maybe a bit of a decrease, meaning drop in prices.
Any amount of gate changes won’t matter.
Ganktards only have to use them once, a month ago, and with cyno, they’ll never have to use a gate ever again. Eve has been made so risk-free for them there is literally no counterplay, even if they are terrible. That’s what all the resub crowd is excited about “finally I can get a pve kill and avoid pvp completely even if I play with my dick instead of both brain and hands! omgomg resubbing!”.
unbalanced because of players as a human always find ways to make any tools we use work for the application in the operators favor.
Why not give us the skill of Polaris while you are at it CCP…
Other note is the players which are posting in here are only a smaller number of the players in the game therefore the general survey method only requires 1500 people to complete a survey at which s not the complete population of eve online.
People blame this an that as the reasoning to keep or remove the blackout therefore mass opinions an yet from one player the blackout is boring.
This is as if the attempt to make a dynamic changes is only thought up of 'I know what we can do we change local only in one area of eve online" an i bet this reduced the bandwidth usage of the new XMPP Chat system on the third party servers.
I see this as
What per player creates the entertainment for that Paying player with real money is what matters in the game as the per person have their own personal interest.
speaking of retention for a player in eve online.
Retention requires attention spans longer than the point click get a reward…
Being a 16 year old player even with the skill injectors there is been a progressive downtrend in players to recruit in eve online to go into corporations and alliances in the past year.
Most which i have seen leaving eve are people whom in real life do not have the real life time to play eve as a second life therefore lose interest in eve.
Zero words for any posting by my alt account in here will matter nor create any change in the community nor with CCP
The reason is CCP OWNS THIS SOFTWARE WE PAY A LEASE TO USE AS OMEGA( SUBSCRIPTIONS )
So far in this past year I have observed the types which sit in eve online from uptime to downtme to the new player which is alpha account never subbed nor upgraded to omega by any method.
Then the kill injected pilots which day one into a dreadnought with mastery V on the ship information window.
Regardless of the desired type of game play in eve the bottom line is eve online for CCP is a business model.
So far every new player i meet is all wanting to be able to earn enough isk to PLEX the account every month therefore that is Less income as well as when i worked the time to math calculation for brand new alpha to gain enough to PLEX each month the time works out to this following statement.
Brand new alpha without the skillpoint limit works out to 100 hours a week of game play every day for a complete month to gain enough ISK for the previous month of ISK VALUE TO PLEX being that an brand new Alpha more than likely will know noting about the game. This time base is on the factors of any content type on sole game play without a corp / alliance / friends to play the game with.
If this new alpha account misses so much as 1 day of gameplay within the 100 hours then the PLEX to ISK ratio MAY not be achieved.
That is an example.
One day EVE ONLINE will be part of the past an therefore ALL players need to simply accept that the staff of CCP as well as the company is rather old now or aging that is.
One day the company Staff will retire real life.
EVE ONLINE is a product to create an generate profit for the Owners of the product which is CCP.
Right now with all of the controversy from the null sec blackout the additional free marketing is going off the charts from the player based making videos, posting on reddit, social media, gaming news online magazines,
Therefore the purpose of the black out in null sec is working for CCP very well.
Advertising. The Player as the product.
With 16 years into eve online I am capable of any type of game play.
So many players want to ‘enforce’ only one type of game player with the social justifications of WHY PER PLAYER GROUP THIS CONTENT WITH GAME PLAY IS THE ONLY CONTENT TO ENGAGE INTO WITH EVE ONLINE.
Nothing stated will really matter in the end of the blackout testing CCP will do what CCP wants.
All about money an profit generation.
Times have changed in the world now an not many players in games want to do a grind into anything anymore.
THE STATEMENT OF BEING RISK ADVERSE:
Well I am not risk adverse myself; however to the players which spend real money to have plex as the instant gain reward i can understand why.
All of the common phrases with eve quotes originated somewhere from a single player then was passed on an on over an over a yet it is very unlikely anyone knows who the H3LL created the statement to begin with.
With the new triglavian ships it is more or less skill into a trig ship then with one weapon put it in the F1 High-slot sit there wait for the cookie reward.
Have them into larger numbers it kills capital ships or anything else you want to deal damage to in the game.
More or less new player friendly press one button candy ship.
This have created where players d not have to learn more than one ship one weapon one button less time required to feel completed an gratified.
Just the way the game is with the change in Real world times…
16 years into eve online I earned everything i have. zero skill injectors required an 16 years of experience no one can BUY experience which will win over the skill injection every time unless the new account is really an alt of an older player which is most of the number count in eve online anyway.
In the end it is only a game.
A software product for money an profit.
One day eve will end.
Then what…
Have fun everyone.
As for me the blackout created a very boring environment.
32 consecutive fleet kills in an hour simply by bubbling a gate an camping in a system on a transit pipeline with only 2 star gates. the veteran players in null all have commented together than the pvp quality is downgraded from the blackout because now there are LESS plyers online than before the blackout an in null players WANT TO PVP an are not KRABBING UP what you see if you pop out of your wormhole is players reshipping unless it is one group of alliance tournament ships an 150 trigalvian heavy assault cruisers or 300 loki pilots…
As for the rebuttal of the camping the gate why not go on a roam.
we did with a 150 pilot fleet with logi support an command burst tackle you name it for we had a full fleet composition.
3 hours later there was never anyone online in space.
before the blackout we were having massive fights which lead to capital free for all fights an the FC calling all the targets then it is an eve online epic battle.
do what you want as you want too in eve.
There is not a single person on the internet which can demand of you what you spend your time an money on for entertainment unless you as the account owner GIVE the other player POWER OF YOURSELF voluntarily
Enjoy!!
No, that is economic perspective - because whatever you do in nullsec outside umbrella now, is better done in hisec, that makes being in nullsec actually lower than 0 - you’re losing ISK.
And even if for a second we limit ourselves to your level of understanding, where economy does not exist, it’s still not a scaredy cats perspective - it’s perspective of flying smart - because undocking into blackout into a system with known cloaky cyno ganktard is either giving free kills to the most pvp and risk averse player imaginable, or manning a trap he won’t bite 23/7 and making even less in process.
No matter how you look at it, blackout is a big fat mistake and lose/lose scenario for just about everyone who creates content.
If you could proof read your comments before posting that would be great… It’s kinda hard to understand gibberish.
Well I’ve given the “blackout” a chance and so far I’ve had some fun doing roams and gate camps… But that’s just the thing… That’s ALL there is to do! And I could roam/gate camp prior to the “derpout”, but now every time anyone tries to rat/mine they get swarmed and my alliance doesn’t have the manpower to combat 20+ Loki’s … If all members were logged in ALL the time maybe…
So what should we do? Join goons/test to get under they’re cap umbrella? Wait wouldn’t that make them even bigger if everyone started doing this? Wait… Wasn’t this one of the problems to begin with?
Don’t think it was intended for a gate change to the gate itself but more like a flash or something that can be seen across the system when a large group enters. I’m not 100% keen on that idea myself as much as the IFF idea he had.
i know whatscha mean… i was out today spending the normal amount of Money i invest into eve got myself a new Hotas flight stick 4 new games and some stuff for my switch thx ccp
All the (ahem) “ganktards” are sooooo stupid that they don’t even realize it’s completely impossible to play the game in null without local. That’s how dumb they are! And so they’re just carrying on, playing away, producing things, destroying other things, and generally having a good time.
If only they possessed Orca’s 200iq nullbear bigbrain they would realize that none of this is possible and the whole paradox would vanish in a puff of logic.
I see a number of ganktard ships, a lot of pve ships, and not many fleet support ships.
The only pvp ships on the first screen are provi defense fleet.
There is a very fat distinction between pvp and pve fitting, and there are literally 0 ships that can do both of them: even if you make a semi-pvp pve ships, it will fail at pve AND pvp.
Thus you have no data to support your claim.
Yes. Already presented in this thread are numbers from dumped eve-offline data, which show a drop to 2006-level activity in all of eve. Assuming activity in low/hi/wh stayed the same, that means a truly massive and probably unprecedented depopulation of nullsec, which is most likely not pvp players.
More solid data is coming with ADM degradation - that takes time, it tanks 4 days per level, and military level is easy to estimate on NPC kills graph, meaning it can be isolated to industry indexes, which I’m fairly sure will show a massive flop anywhere outside umbrellas, and even under umbrellas it may tank, as barges are not available to mine in anymore.
