Don’t know how long you’ve been gone for, but that site will give you the current price of every item in the game for reference.
and 50 days training , so yeah not giving up completely, just re-learning game using an alt
When it comes time to haul the ore you’ve mined, I suggest using a Venture, either of the two Expedition Frigates (Prospect/Endurance), or a Blockade Runner like the Crane. If you compress the ore (which you should be doing anyway) they will hold the following amounts:
Venture
[500,000 m3 compressed equivalent][Compressed Veldspar value 65 million ISK]
Blockade runner
[800,000 m3 compressed equivalent][[Compressed Veldspar value 105 milion ISK]
Prospect
[1.2 million m3 compressed equivalent][Compressed Veldspar value 160 million ISK]
Endurance
[1.9 million m3 compressed equivalent][Compressed Veldspar value 250 million ISK]
The Expedition Frigates haul a lot of compressed m3, they are fast, and they are dirt cheap. I just used Veldspar as an example. If you were mining and compressing ice, the value would be far, far greater.
turns out I am in Hek 0.8 territory with my orca, heh
I’m assuming you mean “I don’t wish to engage in pvp combat”, if so then you can discard all the pvp replies so far. You can still end up in a fight and/or get blown up but that’s always the case, but you can do just fine without wanting to actively engage yourself.
Do note that “pvp” is literally in almost everything because almost everything is competitive, even mining and finding/being in a corp. Most industry based corps really just exist to feed the CEO cheap materials, gathered by “fools” (so newbies or people who don’t realise this) who then sell it to him below actual cost using these cool buy back programs, because (very conveniently) the corp is located far away from trade hubs. If you think about it, this is a form of pvp in itself: taking advantage of other players. So when you find a corp make sure you know what you’re getting in to.
Which corp I can’t tell you, partly because I don’t do industry and partly because the game is big and there are lots of groups. Also, given that everything is PVP including even these forums you probably should be weary of any actual groups being listed
There are also really terrible/inactive/abusive/bot filled corps out there, and you’re going to join them, hate being there and leave within a few days. What I would suggest you do: leave your main characters for now, create a fresh account with a referral (your own), create a char on it and focus on the roles you want to be doing. Take some risks, (re)learn the game a bit and talk&interact with people you run in to while doing what you want to be doing. If it clicks you try to join them on your alt. Just tell them exactly what’s going on: you’re a returning player and relearning the game on a fresh alt. Join their corp, get a feel for it and if after a while it feels right you join with your real characters.
It’s going to take some tries to find a good corp which is why using an alt makes good sense, so your main character’s corp history doesn’t become messy. If only because good corps care about that sort of thing as it can/will be seen as a red flag.
create a new account? would it not suffice to just create an alt? or does the referal come with perks?
You could but if you create a new account you can apply a referral code for instant 1 mil SP, so you could focus that character on a specific play style and do just fine right from the start. You can make as nay accounts as you want, even with the same email address so you could do this on different characters at the same time, casting a wider net so to speak. Beyond that there’s a good chance a corp will want you to use their Auth setup, which reveals all your character’s history, generally not a great thing to just pas around for every clown corp you try out with your main account(s).
Remember, right now your goal isn’t to maximise your income, it’s to improve your knowledge/experience and find people to play with.
Go here, log in with your main account and copy the referral link. Use that link to make as many fresh accounts as you want.
I have done so, let the good times roll
If you learn about Skill extraction and selling injectors you can have yourself pretty much free alt omega accounts, if you plan ahead and play it smart.
Or you can simply work for an hour at pretty much any job on the planet and pay for an Omega sub and not have to worry about all that and just enjoy the game…
Depends on where you live but sure. Still, the skill extraction route takes like 5 minutes per month, once you’ve set it up.
I even prominently mention this is my guide and it gets mentioned all the time on the forums as well yet somehow most people seem to be allergic to that solution for some reason.
I agree with the general idea of how trying to plex your (main) account is a horrible way to play for most people. However, if that account only has characters that don’t need additional training then it’s very logical to go the extraction route.
Lets say you want a hauler alt, or perhaps a trade alt or a PI one. Those jobs require limited SP and they don’t need to train anything beyond what they need for that job. With a bit of planning and setup those are (pretty much) free to be omega and sometimes it even makes profit, depending on the economy.
Wasn’t referring to you in my post, I was just talking in general as that is what most people’s reaction is on the forums when someone brings up real-life grinding
when they ask about the subject of PLEXing their account. It is less time to grind in the general case than how much time it is to grind in-game yet most cases they react negatively to the proposal.
But as most things in EVE it depends so was not against your notion and as you explain there can be edge cases when it might be worth it after the initial setup.
so returning I had forgotten…that it requires a subscription (omega class) to allow me to use the ships I bought, yaay for free game neh?
Someone has to pay to keep the servers on…
meh…throw the hamsters a leaf from the forest is enough, 25 bloody euros is just a bit much…
Just do a weekend Omega pass or the basic starter pack. They are only like $4 USD. Weekend is for 3 days Omega, and the starter pack will get you 7 days Omega. It would at least get you back into the game and able to fly the ships you already have…
How to find the corp that is right for you has some great advice on this.
Hello Jotun and welcome back.
I have been playing Eve since 2023, it really isn’t that difficult to get started. I formed my own dummy corporation to share supplies with my first 3 characters. Otherwise you end up spending 10,000 ISK every time you want to send something to another character. I started by doing the following;
- Find the schools in your region. There are 12 schools across the galaxy and you can visit them all. Each school has 45 career tasks to perform and they reward you with ships and ISK. Lots of easy ISK to be made.
- Start mining ops with those free ventures you were given at the school systems. I mined kernite for a while in low security systems. Plain raw kernite is 850 to 1000 per unit and your venture can hold 4,166 units. One load sold at dock can buy and fit 8 more ventures. I don’t cry for the loss of a venture.
- Once you get some ISK banked, buy the mining scoops and train the gas harvest skill. Make sure you buy the correct scoops for the venture and not harvesters. You will need roughly 50 million ISK or better to start with gas.
- Set up a base of operations in low security to mine Mykoserocin gas. My typical base contains 2 ventures fitted for gas mining, 1 Miasmos for hauling, and a Heron to scan for clouds.
This was how I was able to buy a Raitaru ( blown up a year ago in a wormhole ) and an Astrahus for one solid year ( sold it last month ). I currently have 3 billion ISK in the bank and rising, especially since I no longer need to fuel the station. I now spend my ISK on silly stuff or gift it to others. Never paid a dime on omega since CCP seems to hand it out 1 week for free every year. I could invest my ISK into PLEX and just buy the omega, but I am having fun as an alpha player.
You need to train and the best place to start is the school systems. You will lose ships, but that is part of the fun, it is a game after all.
Have fun!
