Well, every time I decloak, I’m at risk just the same as the guy I’m going to kill. Now if you had any clue about cloaking, or were able to comprehend what I actually wrote above, you’d perhaps notice how truly moronic that statement of yours is.
So you cant even read now pfft. AFK cloakers dont decloak. You are worse than a carebear when it comes to risk aversion.
Must be hard when you can’t even understand your own sentences. “Cloaky camper” and “AFK cloaky camper” aren’t the same thing.
Also, bumping someone is interacting with someone’s ship. A cloaker can’t interact with anyone, or anything, without decloaking first, putting themselves at the same risk as every other non-cloaked ship. Thus, your entire premise is flawed. As usual.
And you’re wondering why everyone thinks you an illiterate moron…
I was refering to afk cloakers, because this is the afk cloaky thread, not the imlinusgorpriskaverseelitepvper thread.
Nah, you weren’t. You’re just moving the goalpost again in a feeble attempt not to look like a moron and that very attempt makes you look like a moron. You made a claim and you should be able to defend it instead of switching context again just because your illogical non-sense was pointed out, as usual.
Again the context of the discussion eludes you. I referenced observing the grid, you can’t really observe the grid while you are AFK…either while cloaked or tethered. So if you are ATK at a secret safe and cloaked or tethered you are 100% safe. You are even pretty darn safe in an active system with a hauler full of liquid ozone and perpetually running a network of cynos so people can easily move jump drive capitals around with considerable ease and safety…if Mike is upset about cloaks he should be in a veritable rage about tethering, IMO.
Or the 3 titans, 5 supers, 2 dreads, 6 carriers, and the myriad of sub-caps sitting on the keepstar as well.
Just as they can’t observe the grid. Again, maybe you should be directing your ire at Mike for wanting to broaden the discussion to cloaks in general.
Why aren’t you addressing Mike?
This is defacto the cloaking thread, because any post on the forum that even mentions making cloaks not stupid will be closed and redirected here.
Which is fine, because people should be able to afk anytime and anywhere they want. They just should not be safe doing so while in space.
Go get him @Ag3nt_Jita!
No arguing on weekends dude! Have a beer or something and have fun o7!
Why not? Assuming they can’t impact the game (ie, can’t earn ISK or kill anyone) it’s a non-issue where they are when AFK.
Because it’s EVE and someone might want to shoot them.
In Space should be At Risk.
Too many carbs in beer for me…so I’ll raise a glass of whisky instead.
That answers ‘what’, not ‘why’.
Why should someone be at risk if they can’t hurt you and can’t make isk?
Neither of those things are important.
They are in Space. If they are in space, they are supposed to be at risk of non-consensual interaction.
No further motive or reason need apply.
Why should being in space be the defining line? Why can’t I shoot you in a station? Why can’t I shoot you while you are logged off?
(And don’t give me that nonsense about how stations are “designed safe zones”, because you can say the exact same thing about cloaks.)
You are right
Core concept of the game = risk while in space
An afk cloaky camper cannot generate isk actively or hurt anyone that’s true, but she still has an effect on the game. You never know when they come back and drop on you, so doing pve in a camped system can be dangerous. Please try to understand a few very simple things:
- everyone is at risk while in space, except cloaky campers at a safespot which makes the core concept of the game invalid
- you should not have any kind of effect on the game or other player’s gameplay IF you are not playing
- drinking too much whiskey instead of a few beers will make your head explode tomorrow (@Teckos_Pech)
Actually you can’t.
They actually went over this in a Dev blog around the time they were explaining why they created the asset safety mechanic for the new structures.
Cloaks don’t provide a safe place to store assets, build wealth and provide meaning through character progression. That’s what stations are for, it’s why you have the various station services, and why such an emphasis has been left on the distinction between docked and undocked.
In this Teckos is right and tethering was a poor direction to go. I still count it as docked so have no real animosity for it, but it is a bad idea.
I don’t hate cloaks either. I think they should be weaker than they are because being safe out in space like that is against the core idea that you are at risk while in space. If someone wants you out of space they should be able to realistically hunt you.
This is why I don’t complain that someone hunts PvE players. I’m fine with it. I don’t feel you have any special entitlement to shooting them if they want to dock up while you are present, but if they don’t clear out while you are there then by all means, shoot them. By the same token I don’t feel anyone should have any special entitlement to shoot at a cloaked ship—but if they stay present then being hunted should be a real danger, just like for everyone else in the game.
But I’m sure you’ll call me a liar, and pathetic, an all that jazz because you like your one sided gameplay. It’s Ok. I’m sure one day you will grow up enough to understand
Like the Dread Pirate Roberts and his tolerance to iocaine poison, I too have built up an amazing tolerance to whisky over the years.
Okay…WTFAYTA? Pilots who are tethered can help capitals move EVEN WHILE TETHERED AND AFK. In this regard it is not all like being docked. It would be like lighting a cyno while cloaked AND AFK.
A player AFK helping trillions of ISK worth of stuff move around is “a poor direction” but a cloaked ship that can’t do much anything is awful.
Again…
WTFAYTA?
