Can HACs do the things i listed that a BB can do? Still waiting on that 100k+ EHP HAC that does 800dps.
We could actually end this here. As you said HACs cant MJD. Then listed off ways HACs compete with BS (supposed heavy neut HACs, 100k ehp hac with 800dps). By definition, even if everything you said is true (unlikely), BS still do more by fact of MJD. Which comes back to cost, a t1 BS is cheaper than a HAC, so cost is not a factor, nor is it that a HAC does “more”. Its easier to roam in because it warps faster and can do so without sacrificing tank or damage or slowing down your fellow fleet members.
MJDs are not tools used for engagement, they’re used to GTFO. You cant bounce around the field with MJDs. you get 1 activation per fight, it has a MASSIVE cooldown, at maximum 3 minutes, at minimum 2min and 15 seconds. in that time, a battlecruiser could get to you and pin you down before you can get another activation, let alone cruisers or frigates. Sure, you might be able to pick a couple off, but no, MJDs are not viable tools for combat unless you are in a Marauder. All of this is assuming that you dont get scrammed the moment you appear on field.
They already are except for battleships. Logi: frigs, crusiers and caps. Ewar: Moms have ewar crusiers and frigs. Interdictors are dessie and cruiser. Bs only have Marauders… a dead end and Blackops super specialized. Forgot command. Dessie, BC, T3 and Caps.
I see I jumped the gun then. Sorry. At one point before the nerfs to large weapons Bs really were death. Application of weapons on small targets was basically 100% then.
I think they are still suffering because of how strong they were at release. They dont want them too strong. And now with alpha states I fear they will be forever nerfed…
minm recon and EAF web better than the bhaal both serpents ships web better than the vindi, guardians RR better than the nestor. and even the griffen out ecms a scorp.
there is a reason utility and E-war are almost exclusively limited to pirate lines. the only exceptions being three who are built for the uses of the two battleship sized E-war
Adding a light Cruiser and a heavy cruiser as well as a Light BC and a Heavy BC could help differentiate the cruiser classes between what should be kinda almost a battleship and what clearly should not.
Then use IRL naming and classification for BBs and Dreadnoughts.
IRL you have pre dreadnought BBs and then you have dreadnought BBs
That will give you 2 classes of BBs
Battleship = Good at killing smaller displacement ships with relative efficiency
Dreadnought Battleship = Good at killing anything down to cruiser size VERY fast, has dificulty killing DDs and a realy hard time taking down frigs.
Then change the names of the (Dreadnoughts) as they are to (Siege Drivers)
Which makes more sense, considering what they do.
A step further will separate cruisers and BC’s to help balance them and keep people from getting confused about what they should and should not be able to do… and add more variety to the game.
Light cruiser = Good for taking out DDs and murderous to Frigs, cheaper than the other cruisers, least armor/hull of all fast, extra bonuses to light high tracking weapons.
Medium cruiser. = Already in the game ?
Heavy cruiser = More power grid and CPU, extra shields, can mount more/heavier weapons (NOTE: No actual heavie weapons, just bonuses to medium weapons.
Light BC = Lighter armor, cheaper to build, Bonuses to quad mounts and tracking so frigs?..R.I.P.
Medium BC =Already in the game?
Heavy BC = More power grid and CPU, extra shields, can mount more/heavier weapons, more expensive, should match a BB in every way EXCEPT for ARMOR/HULL tank and should be faster.
Buff BBs to compensate for HBC?^^
…
That will solve some of it.
For the rest?
Fast Battleships!
Those are a thing!
They are just a little bigger than regular BBs with much more powerful engines and much more powerful tracking and much higher (EXPENSE) T1 ship that uses Titanium.
Wallet is gonna feel that one… eek!
This is just spitballing.
Let me know if you have any ideas on how to improve.
Sorry for the interlude but the vindicator is a Serpentis ship, which makes the total of subcapital Serpentis ships 3.
The dramiel, the vigilant and the vindicator on the subcapital part and the vehement, the vendetta and the vanquisher.
