Mick Fightmaster for CSM 20, the Return of the Whole-Ass Wormholer

Hello friends, I’m Mick Fightmaster back with another exciting CSM 20 campaign post. As we look back on the past year of CSM19, I remember the promise I made to never half ass anything. Thus, I return for CSM 20 with more whole ass to give. Shout out to Mark’s Grandpappy  .

Instead of regurgitating my information from last year, feel free to reference the post from last year’s campaign to get a bit more on my background on EVE. The TLDR summary below :slightly_smiling_face::

  • Started EVE in 2009 in high sec as a mission runner
  • Went to null on a whim after about a year of playing
  • Dove (literally) into wormhole life when it released and never looked back
  • I’ve been in 50 char corps, 500 char corps, and everywhere in between. I’ve participated in wormhole-wide wars, eviction offenses and defenses, and light skirmishes all the way to capital brawls.
    • I’m also lucky enough to have friends in kspace alliances that let me join on alts to experience low sec warfare, pochven, and small to medium null sec alliance life.

Why me?

Over the past year I have built relationships among WH groups with unique gameplay styles from all classes of space via the WH UN Discord. This server has been the primary means of communicating with wormholers, CSM, and CCP throughout the past year garnering feedback on releases as well as pitching ideas. We’ve had 7 town hall meetings (with an 8th on the way!) since I joined CSM. These meetings have been used to refine ideas further, openly discuss pain points within WHs, and even host guest appearances from my space dad, CCP Jotunn.

An added benefit to running again is having developed the relationships with CCPers who are instrumental in effecting change for WH space. They remain engaged with the WH UN community and regularly seek CSM feedback. Let’s look at what we’ve achieved during my tenure on CSM19.

  • Removed “drive-by” escalations for spawning avengers without putting a capital at risk
  • Required a capital to be present for the Drifter Battleship to spawn
    • Introduced the Drifter Recon Battleship to increase isk potential for C5/C6 subcap ratting fleets
  • Fixed the bug of Drifters warping off when spawned
  • Targeting prioritization for Drifters is much more varied
  • Addressed several spawn and escalation bugs associated with Upgraded Avengers and Drifter Battleships
  • Upgraded Avenger values were increased twice from their original value of 12.9m per avenger to 50m per avenger
  • Repositioned warp-in and NPC wave spawn locations in C4 and C2 sites
  • Corrected scan level results for wormholes so owners could determine static connections versus wandering connections.
  • Significantly increased the NPC buy order quantities for Sleeper Components
  • Overhauled the UI/UX for the “Show Info” screen on wormholes, giving easier to understand information
  • Introduced a <1h remaining indicator on end-of-life wormholes freeing up to 3 hours of “end-of-life time” on connections to enable content and exploration.
  • Introduced wandering k-space wormhole connections for C4 wormholes.
  • Deepflow Rift sites will no longer spawn in wormholes

The impact of being on CSM has also made sure that wormholes are considered when new ships or balance passes are proposed. I also constantly advocate that new content opportunities or events occurring in kspace are also present in wormholes.

What’s next?

The past year we’ve seen significant changes made to wormhole space, addressing historical complaints, bugs, and overall QoL / usability improvements. This is what I’d call a good start. With this foundation now in place, WH space is positioned more than ever before for a proper content expansion. I am seeking to introduce new ways of living, navigating, exploring, and fighting in our corner of New Eden without sacrificing the core identity of wormholes. We should enable corporations to express their preferred playstyles in a meaningful way that rewards both those willing to defend it and opponents attempting to disrupt it.

In Closing:

It’s worth mentioning, the vast majority of this year’s changes are thanks to the interview feedback given during the CSM19 Campaign season and throughout the year via WH UN. As such, I will be conducting the same interviews during this campaign season. I will be proactively reaching out to groups for meetings, but if you’d like to schedule a meeting, DM me on Discord / respond to this post and we’ll get one setup. If you don’t have time for a meeting on comms to provide feedback, please submit your answers to the questions below in this forum post.

This year’s question list:

  1. What changes (good and bad) were the most impactful to you this past year? Why?
  2. What do you wish had been introduced this past year?
  3. What opportunities do you see present in other areas of space that could be leveraged in wormholes?
  4. Open discussion/comments: Put your wish list here!

Please contact me via discord DM or WH UN, in-game mail, or this forum post. Help me be your relentless advocate by providing open and honest feedback. I want CCP to have the most holistic picture possible now and into next year as we work together to make the area of space we love even better for our community and EVE Online.

Probably the most successful WH CSM in history for advocating and achieving positive changes for all classes of WHs.

Glad to see you’re running again Mick. I think you’ve done a great job as the WH CSM, and look forward to you continuing on that path. I’m sure other directors of our group would love to meet with you as would I. URSA.

Great to see you Mick.

Mick has my endorsement for his sequel run (and arguably best in the trilogy)
He also has my undying support as a spectacular candidate representing the WH community. He plays the game, knows the day to day mechanics and hurtles and was a wonderful CSM this year by all account.

He’s the best whole ass wormhole candidate this side of the Mississippi.

Cheers friend,

It would be my great pleasure to have Mick on the CSM again. He is hard working and thoughtful, takes a lot of time to put on the wormhole UN and canvas for opinions and suggestions for wormholes. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him, and I think he is making wormholes better.

I’d like to thank Mick for his advice during the last months. Even while WH space has seen a lot of trouble last year, he always had an ear for the difficulties of smaller groups and found the time to answer questions and help with useful hints and knowledge.

I fully support his campaign and like to urge everyone: If you have a vote to spare, give it to Mick Fightmaster!

I only wish that with every change or idea, the consequences for the smaller/newer/weaker groups are the main concern. Everyone needs those daily ever-changing neighbors: ratters, gas-huffers, industrials, exit-campers, roamers, ragerollers, daytrippers, explorers… for content. To catch them, to bait them, to poke them, to fight them.
Let them live, let them learn, let them grow. Without the smaller fish, the bigger fish will starve. Never forget that.

I’ve known Mick for over a year, and while our paths crossed before, this past year I’ve had the chance to see firsthand what an exceptional CSM he has been. We also went swimming together and he didn’t drown me, which is a huge plus. We’ve collaborated extensively on issues across Lowsec, Nullsec, and Wormholes. In particular, our shared concerns about the difficulties facing wormholes stood out to me, as wormholers share similar barriers to content generation as to my community. That connection fostered our friendship.

Furthermore, the Wormhole UN model that Mick has created is going to remain as the GOLD standard of community based advocacy. I was always glad to see Mick consistently advocate for wormholers, big and small, and work toward strengthening this unique ecosystem so it can thrive.

Our collaboration has already led to fruitful results, and I hope to continue that work with him on the next CSM. Mick has always been a steadfast advocate, an eager listener, and someone committed to improving the quality of life for all wormholers. As a jealous Lowsecer, I can say without hesitation that wormholers have been lucky to have him in their corner, and he gets the YP2 stamp of approval and I am thrilled to endorse him for another term.

Mick, would you fix hot dropping by adding a delay to cynos or jump drives? Or have any other counter possibility? What are your thoughts about that.

(This is not to start this discussion, pls refrain from taking over this thread. It’s just so I know how you feel about this issue)

FWIW just met with Mick, and it was very enjoyable - he only made our group cry one time. Could have been happy tears, maybe…

I really look forward to seeing what Mick could do with a second term, and our group felt really “heard” after meeting with him, so if you’re on the fence or think that it’s not worthwhile because “What could he possibly do?” - there’s more to it than that and the discussion was incredibly worthwhile from our standpoint.

So don’t be scared of Mick! Schedule your talk today!

Mick is basically what you get if you shaved CCP Jotunn’s magnificant beard, a very charismatic and wholesomeboi who loves wormholes to an unhealthy degree

Despite the fact that I have had to fight him from stealing devs from my own projects, the fact that i had to do that in the first place shows that he is a man who gets things done and I would love to serve alongside him again

Haven’t been involved in wormhole space in almost 5-6 years but Mick is still someone I run into regularly in the community as an LS/NS alliance leadership figure. He is a good dude and spends a lot of time collaborating with youngpuke2 who is one of the most prolifically active CSM19 members getting things done that benefit not only wormholers but the game at large. He should be in the top 5 of any alliance’s ballot 100%
