Alright, so, I took a look at the top 30 ish Posts in the sale topics.
Of those, 3 of them (Including yours ) Violated the 24 hour bump rule. The wording of the bump rule will be seen too here as Its being discussed internally.
The confusion here is that rule was a copy paste from the old forums, were it was easier to tell the exact time and date when a post was made. With the Discourse system, at a glance you see a post was made in minutes, hours or days ago. This is what is used to gauge whether a Sale post needs to be worked on.
For transparency, we made a very recent change after discussing it internally to properly reflect how the Sale threads are moderated in regards to Bumping. The changes are as follows:
Bumping is allowed only by the character who started the thread once per calendar day.
Has been changed too:
Bumping is allowed only by the character who started the thread once per 24 hour period.
Internally this has been the moderation Policy of the Sale threads for several years, but the rules had not been updated. This has been fixed.
We further note that many of the rules need to be looked at for future changes as they do not reflect how the community use the forums. More information to come in the future.
Thanks for making everyone’s lives more difficult with this stupid rule that has NO purpose.
We would already flag posts that bumped too often ourselves. You did what no one asked for and what won’t help anyone. Just do your janitor work, kindly.
I’ll be flagging every post that violates this new rule so you always have something to waste your life on. Already flagged 4 new threads.
Another Internet Perry Mason…
Hey @Zheckarr_Zateki - before you yell at others “READ THE RUUULES!!!” maybe you should read the rules about abuse of ccp employees/isd.
It’s not the first time over the years that the ISD need to be nudged to not fix what isn’t broken. Especially in the Character Bazaar.
Zheckarr is right when he says we police ourselves just fine over there. It’s been that way since I started character selling over a decade ago. If something needs looking at, we’ll call you. Stick to where you are actually needed. GD, C&P, and NCQ&A.
And when there are people, who try to “police ourselves” as you say, in the Bazaar, or sales ad, like trying to get people to follow the character bazaar rules by dropping corp or posting with the correct character etc, we get met with backlash to where we have to get the ISD’s involved, and even then, people give them ■■■■ over them enforcing the rules. so you can sit your tail down and hush.
That’s because the ISD Moderators have a loose interpretation of the Forum Rules and don’t enforce the rules equally among all forum posters. ISD have repeatedly shown themselves to be biased and prejudiced with selective moderation towards certain posters and topics.
Yeah, how about enforcing that with the dozen or so posters in this forum who blatantly disregard forum rules and constantly antagonize others with off topic sarcastic remarks and profanity.
I think they keep some of the more colourful language people around to add a bit of spice to the forum.
There are days I visit the GD forum and there’s not been much change, those days I don’t even bother to logon.
If you removed all those posts and off-topic ones there would be a lot less to read, not that I’m saying they’re worth reading. Certainly some aren’t.
And that’s the problem, their job as moderators is to enforce the forum rules equally among all posters, not allow some to continue posting, as you put it ‘colorful language’, because it adds a bit of spice to the forum.
The EVE forums are intended to provide a warm, friendly atmosphere for the EVE community.
Posts that are non-constructive, insulting or in breach of the rules will be deleted regardless of how valid the ideas behind them may be.
Our forums are designed to be a place where players and developers can exchange ideas in a polite and friendly manner for the betterment of EVE Online.
I didnt think you were one of the pendantic crew, but you (like most of us) have a tendancy to grapple when an opinion expressed does not match your own.
Its an EvE Forum tradition, as is expecting flak in return.
But like I say, I agree with you, at least if you are comparing how moderation works elsewhere.
I got banned from ED forums for ages for things that here get likes.
Yes, they’re surprisingly lenient towards people like DMC, Foggy and Balos.
In this very thread, DMC jumps into an argument I had with another person. Throws attacks, accusations and lies, then whines that it’s somehow me that have started the interaction and calls for bans. The ■■■■■■■ hypocrisy.
I agree that everyone should be treated equally. These forum “nice guys” are never courteous when disagreeing with others, nor do they ever provide a warm and friendly atmosphere in here.
Can we add an optional text field to all the flag options? It gives the ability to specify why one actually flags something.
Using the “Something else” just to explain my reasoning for an off-topic flag, seems slightly overkill.
Just using the other flags seems to confuse the mods, since they seem to think the flags are just out of spite and not for something relevant.
Also, can the automated response for the “Something else” flag be disabled? Maybe use the message system only when you need to clarify something regarding the flag (example, the mod is unsure what was meant by the text message). I don’t however think we need this copy paste message.
Thanks for letting us know. We agree there is an issue and we’re looking into it.
Not sure how the mod tools work or if it’s possible though.
