im quiting eve permanently myself even with a active sub
After watching my ISK/hr yield fall on my mining fleet, this was my hope as soon as they announced the impending changes. I have been an asteroid miner my entire EVE career. I donāt expect to be rich. I just expect to see my profession contributing to the overall economy.
Itās a video game.
āProfessionsā are tiered by isk/hour, then ease of access.
Virtually every activity in eve is about scale of operation, fleet size, or isk per hour, or some combination of those. No activity in this game requires any real brain power. Just the will to grind, or wait patiently.
So, I donāt know what you mean by āprofessionā. Most activities in eve can be mastered on a skill level with less than 20 hours invested. After that itās just a grind, like every other video game.
I agree, it is a video game. However, I would not underestimate the complexity of this game. There are subtleties and nuances to all pursuits of ISK, and I would not assume to be able to pick those up with less than 20 hours of play time. That is what I mean by profession. It includes far more domain knowledge aside from the the pursuit of ISK.
Thanks for remembering me.
I call BS, unless you give me your whole stuff.
The PVP has always been more about marketing than the actual gameāmost players by a huge margin PVE in Eve. And yes mining is necessary, but the reality is there are so many resources in the game at this point that PVP could continue for years without any mining, Resources have needed a strong adjustment for years-- glad to see them tackling this beast.
I feel the same. I spent a lot of time and effort, staking out my own corner of the sandbox. Now CCP wants to come in and decimate my entire investment.
I am pretty sure this will kill eve for me. I cant figure out where Iām suppose to get sizable amount of trit in null sec. think of all the structures that are no longer viable. the funny thing is no one will need moon goo if they cant get basic mins. Iām just going to consider my characters layed off because of the CCP virus
No, thatās not true at all. Invasions in starter system affecting newbros and nullsec vets the same? Rorqal changes, cyno changes or any other nullsec changes? Capitals, Tech 3 ships updates? Thereās a massive amounts of actions and changes that CCP can do that will punish, or benefit, the āright targetedā groups of people/players.
I donāt know who needs to hear this, but ganking miners in hi-sec isnāt going to help with this condition.
Thatās pretty much exactly the opposite of what I said.
As for the rest of your list⦠can you name one of those that smaller groups adapt to better than larger groups, and demonstrate how?
ā ā ā ā all the rorquals.
Several point with respect to this:
-
Iām pretty sure I saw a statistic published by CCP that said as many as 3000 new players start Eve every day but that 90% quit within a week.
-
I recently read an article, donāt remember where but Iām sure Google can find it for those that are interested, that explained why āPvPersā are the death of most MMOs. Why? Because most people that consider and call themselves PvPers arenāt. They are āgankersā. Thereās a huge difference. The self-labeled PvPers can get offended all they want but picking on people that are helpless to defend themselves is a pretty toxic way to āhave funā or as Iāve heard lately, āadd contentā.
-
High Security space is no such thing. High security āimpliesā safety. All it does is change the calculation for the gankers. Character marked a criminal? Who cares, create a new one. That player is leaving because he just lost everything he had to a ganker in āimpliedā safe space? Who cares, thereās another worthless Care Bear where that one came from right?
Whose fault is all this? CCPās for encouraging disruptive play. Why do they encourage it? Perhaps because they like to indulge in it? Perhaps they think it makes the economy cycle? The only certain thing is that it makes the population cycle.
To all the āself-proclaimedā PvPers, let the insults and degradation beginā¦
Consider it a different type of Gank. One in the developerās styleā¦
None of the game devs take anything seriously these days, much less their business.
The only thing they understand is getting laid off because the company is down sizing and running on a skeleton crew. Itās all fun in games till youāre dusting off the resume.
What ever. Maybe CCP will sell it to one of the big name corps after it has too few customers to sustain the company. Sell it off to a chinese company that eats games like EVE up and spit them out when theyāre done milking it. Real common trend for games that went f2p over the last decade.
Not how Iād like to see eve go, but such is life.
You mean Pearl Abyss, the Korean game company that already owns CCP?
You dont understand sarcasmā¦
I didnāt realize weād gotten that far already. Yikes.
EQ2 was a great game. Sony sold it off to someone that maintained it well enough for a few years. Then that company sold it off to another. Itās run by Day Break Gaming now. The game is nothing but a hollow shell of itās former self, and a constant shameless cash grab.
So, thatās how the process has gone for a few other games I loved that went f2p, then sold off.
It would be a massive shame if eve went that way. This game had so much potential.
Yeah, no. Iām actually that out of the loop. I play eve on and off the last 8 years. I donāt follow it too closely.
