Needs a new alert system

I would like there to exist a function that makes an alarm or a visual signal when someone targets and attacks your drones.

Why would it not?

A good explenation was made further down in the discussion:

“I have worked as a machine operator IRL for many years and IF I couldn’t listen to podcasts, or read a newspaper or talk to colleagues, while checking in on the operation now and then, you’d become depressed and stressed out and that’s pretty much what mining is, an operation of a machine.
But you’d be damn sure there’s both warning signals, sounds and blinking lights if some part of the machine isn’t working even slightly correct. So why, in a industrial futuristic mining operation, wouldn’t there be warnings going off, if someone targets and starts blasting away at your equippment.
It makes very, very little sens.”

you have a visual system, its called the drones hp pool in the box where you deploy them.

I know, but it’s not enough. As that is no Alarm or warning, when someone is targeting and attacking your drones.

Is there a specific need for this?

Like, there are many things that appear on the screen. A hostile appears on grid, on overview, they start engaging, your drone’s HP starts dropping, etc. If you’re paying attention, there should be more than enough elements on the screen already that warn you.

The same could be said for when someone targets you personally or starts shooting at you. But that exists to warn you.

If you are actually playing and not AFK you will receive plenty of advance warning that your drones are in danger. This alert you want sounds suspiciously nice for AFK miners that are tired of having their expensive mining drones targeted by others as a means of impeding their activity.

You don’t have to be suspicious, cause I am a miner. But as every other miner, I shouldn’t be forced to look at nothingness constantly. I cannot help that game hasn’t made it interactive and you shouldn’t complain cause it’s people like me who makes everything else possible in eve.
I like to be able to play on my others alts or do some studies at the same time and I cannot keep a constant focus at something so dull as a healthbar. I am active when rats arrive, cause I get a warning, overview gets red and I hear sounds of the rats. But when a Neutral ships comes into a belt and moves up to you. I have no chance to respond. Unless I have that target red, and the same person can just constantly keep making new free ganking alts. To keep up this behaviour.

And it’s not unrealistic that my drones actually would put of a warning “Hello, something is happening to me.”

Because the only people who need this are afk players and botters,
who deserve the good old whip more than anyone else.

You aren’t being forced. Stop the victim mentality and do something else.

That’s not the game’s fault.
Others can do so just fine.

Ohhh, the big bad hater DMC is flagging my post.

CCP is doing everything they can to make sure that your afk playstyle is eliminated. Well, CCP could do a little more I suppose. But they are not going to make your afk and bot friendly feature, no matter how nicely you ask. I hope your drones die a horrible agonizing death in the depths of cold space.

100% lootdrops sound like a nice way of speeding that up.

Hey, I have a inferno torpedo blueprint too

It’s called paying attention and not being AFK.

I wonder who keeps flagging posts like yours.

If I was infact “afk” mining. Extra visual effects or sounds for targeting drones wouldn’t matter.
I’m not sitting away from my game. I am playing, but taking care of other things at the sametime, as said, cause I wouldn’t be playing this game and neither would ALOT of other if my 4 hours waiting for an orca to get full, was watching that orca hobble in space for 4 hours straight.
I know a lot of people who enjoy beeing creative, cause that’s what industry is, Social, creative, planning and management. But I also know a lot of people, including myself who’s quit for good due to the fact that they can’t relax or express enough creativity. Gankers for example are trying to completely eliminate that creativity, not for gains, but for just pure spite.

I have worked as a machine operator IRL for many years and IF I couldn’t listen to podcasts, or read a newspaper or talk to colleagues, while checking in on the operation now and then, you’d become depressed and stressed out and that’s pretty much what mining is, an operation of a machine.

It makes very, very little sens.

So now I wonder, what makes you so ill-willed towards this?

I don’t want to get home after a 12 hour day at univercity, to go out and pvp and stress my mind. I want to relax. Cause that’s what EVE is to me, a relaxation from reality.
But I know a lot of you enjoy the endagerment aspect of the game and love to get some adrenaline pumping, and so do I at times. But you don’t get that from trying to gank a miner.

Immersion wise and logically, this is all high tech equipment which should have some sort of active audio alert when attacked.

I can’t see any good points comming from you or any explanations why such a tool shouldn’t exist. Could you be a little more constructive and try to motivate your view? Cause I’m neither AFK or a Botter.
Add a loggoff timer then if AFK is an game issue and work better on getting bots banned would be better suggestions for your issue with.

It’s very apperent that you are not interested in mining and/or never really done it. So your view has very little meaning to this discussion. You just assume how you think everyone should do things, but you can’t be more active in mining. Cause it’s literally, target a rock, press a key and wait it out. So yes, from your view, I am beeing forced to this. But you know that doing so for a longer period of time is unreasonable. So yes it’s the games fault, cause it’s not interactive at all.

You see any problems with my killboard or is there some relevans you want to bring up?

CCP no longer goes by that type of thinking, they’ve done a lot of changes which really didn’t need to be done but went ahead and did it anyway.

Cuz you know, it’s shiny.

Packet sniffer can detect it. Stopped reading. Go away.

What is a packet sniffer? How about you be alittle more intellectual in your way of discussing insted and if you actually have a good point, read what I have written and try to give a good analysis and feedback.

Just “stopped reading, go away” is very childish, why did you even get into the discussion to begin with?
