Au contraire, I am looking at what’s going on. But I cannot have my eyes on two tabs at the same time, unless you want o me use small windows and utterly unemerge myself from the game. But if I get a warning, I know that I need to switch page tab quickly and retract my drones.
As you said “Once the target is locked”. But I do not know if they are actually targeting my drones untill it’s to late. Which is why I want a chance to defend myself, by seeing this.
and to again, put it into a realstic scenario, the system exists for my ship, but not for my drones. Would it be so weird if drones had the same mechanical setup to warn me that someone is targeting them?
If the drone can be destroyed in one volley, then the guns can be preactivated to fire the instant target lock is made and goodbye drone.
(preactivation and selecting target is common in ganking)
Yeah, and that just shows why such a system is even more important. To let me know that someone is actually tageting my drones.
Follow this type of request to it’s logical conclusion and you end up with a Big Red Button in the station which invokes “Switch to my mining boat, undock, find an asteroid belt, mine it until I’m full, defending myself automatically, bring it all back, transfer to inventory, keep going until the belt is all gone”.
Would that be enough handholding for you, or do you want something to press the Big Red Button for you, too ?
How is, adding a feature that let’s me know that someone is targeting my drones. So that I can respond accordingly and that actually adds more to the immersion and realism. a big red button?
Could you respond within a second?
If they can target a drone within a second, which I find unlikely. Maybe.
But atleast I can save more than 1 drone, as I now know what’s going on.
Really, and you know exactly how rat/players behave?
GTFO, over the years I’ve seen a lot of BS posted in these forums but that’s definitely over the top.
Jeeze, I can’t believe you people, constantly trying to poke holes into a QoL improvement idea which would add a bit more immersive reality to the game. Not to mention it can probably be easily coded very quickly.
Dude, have you even been paying attention to all the little QoL additions CCP has done to the UI in-game? And they’re planning on doing even more.
And so what?
2 or 3 players can also warp in on you and destroy your ship before you can even respond.
Talk about reaching for anything to dispel an idea, you peeps are outrageous.
Being on another character is equal to being afk on the one owning the drones.
That’s why you want the alert. Because you’re not actually watching it.
You’re watching it on a second char, but that’s a second char. CCP treats every capsuleer as a seperate entity, which means your argument is none.
“I need an alert so I’m getting alerted when I’m on my other character.”
Thanks for posting, you’ve wrecked yourself.
No, the definition of AFK is Away from Keyboard. So I am just going after your definition.
And that’s what we’ve been talking about this entire time, something that’s warns me that someone is targeting my drones. Which is a function that logiclly and realisticly should exist.
Even if I am using a second account or just one, or writing in corp chat. Checking my buyorders, manufacturing or whatever. Doesn’t take away the need for this type of function.
So no there has been no wrecking off myself, how much you ever want to believe that to be the case.
When you’re alttabbing away from the client,
then for that client you’re afk.
You want an alert that tells you when your other char’s drones are being attacked. You claim that you’re having another char around him, but not only do we not know if that’s actually true, it doesn’t change the fact that you could use it for something else.
Like, for example, farming COSMOS sites in an Orca using drones getting alerted when your drones are being attacked in an attempt to stop your afk farming.
You have nowhere to go with this. CCP wants to get rid of people who do things afk and your feature is supporting afk farmers. This isn’t a “playstyle” or “my way of playing”. Not playing = not playing. Not looking at a specific client = not looking at a specific client. When you alt-tab, then you’re afk on that particular client.
Your idea isn’t going anywhere,
but have fun chasing the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Bye.
You can spin it how much you want and try to justify why it shouldn’t exist. Doesn’t make you right. But the reality of it, is that the function is needed, to warn me what’s going on. Weather I play on a Single account, or 500 accounts. Cause I am no robot, I am a human, sitting at a computer. I don’t get a direct infeed, if it’s not shown to me.
For example in the case of someone preloading and targeting my drones and instantly killing an expensive drone. I have no real defense. There’s no warning that tells me that someone is going to do that.
Cause it happend to me yesterday, where I was mining and I saw a player comming up to me with a venture. Didn’t think much of it, then a catalyst came in, but he wasn’t targeting me and I was just thinking, what’s he gonna do to my orca? So I let go of the notion, until I just saw one of my drones dissapear from the screen. No sounds, no visuals, just poof. Gone. I then watch my drones health and seeing they are beeing attacked and managed to retract 3/5 drones. But had been able to be warned, I could’ve perhaps saved one more drone or even all. But had I been “afk” I would’ve lost them anyway for not paying attention.
My ship does have such a feature on the other hand, so why should that not be extended onto my other property like my drones?
Or should we start spinning it, why should you get a warning when a station or a poco is under attack and reaches a vulnerable state? Then you are AFK for not sitting inside your station and watching it’s health.
It’s good to see you are trying to mature and working on having a reasonable discussion now atleast. Only took 2 removed posts by GM’s to get you to this state.

Choices —> consequences.
You choose to play the game without actually paying attention to the client, the consequence is that you’re not actively playing in times of “need”.
So either accept the consequence of your choice or choose differently.
Also, if you’d put in 1% of your posting and making up lies/■■■■■■■■ effort into actually playing the game you’d not have this issue.

I didn’t say I was endorsing the ‘Big Red Button’ idea…
There’s only a consequence due to lack of realistic feature. Do you know how machine’s at a machinepark at any company would look if there was no sensors registring damages? If it all was up to us humans to figure out if something was wrong?
No, it’s a consequence of you not actively playing the game. Don’t lie, first of all it won’t work and most of all it’s insulting.
Well we can throw dogshit all day long. I consider myself to play semi inatentive yes. I like to diddle and daddle in the game.
But this doesn’t remove the fact that, it would be logical that a warning system triggers, when someone targets my drones. Just like when someone targets your ship, they start to blink in the overview.
Except that the only reason you do not like this idea, is cause it makes the game better for the way I enjoy the game.
Or could you then explain why such a system is not logical?
It still require’s me to be active, which in my way I am. If I was AFK and didn’t watch my overview, I would still loose my drones.
I use my time, while my orca fills up, to do other things, but still having an eye on the overview. For examples; Markets, chats, diplomacy, PI, calculations and trying out project discovery. Cause you know, it takes about 4 hours to fill up an orca.
