No Downtime Feedback Thread

Yes,
Chat & Standings broken means im not going to PVP and massive lag means im not risking to loose a 2 bil ratting ship.
If the test was to see when people start logging off i did so half an hour before DT should have been because thats when the chat went down…

This is your definition for the word “inoperable”?

This is my definition of ‘service’ im not willing to pay for.

I asked you to define “Inoperable” not “service”. Are you having some trouble reading?

Are you some sort of steve jobs reincarnate trying to tell me im holding my phone wrong?

So given that this is now the 3rd reply where you’ve failed to define a simple word, I’m just gonna guess you have no idea what you’re talking about and just throwing an ~angery~ little tantrum like a child who had his lollipop taking away. Have a nice day.

Unable to play - if you think its appropriate to waste payed subscription time like that then you are exactly the kind of customer who deserves to get ■■■■■■ over.

I am not saying all these issues are not happening, but seriosly this no DT experiment didn’t affect me at all.

The only thing I noticed was limited engagement timer not updated (today, fixed after jumping into different system). And guns cycle being slightly longer than usual (yesterday, it is fine now). If there were issues with chat I didn’t notice and I simply played as usual. I had no lags so far.

This bit:

“Ejabberd will run on a cluster of machines in the cloud, so we’re not just separating chat from the game server application, we’re also taking it outside of the EVE cluster.”

And here: https://blog.process-one.net/eve-online-chat-is-moving-to-ejabberd/

This bit: “That’s why I am so proud to share that Eve Online has decided to replace its custom chat system by a standard protocol, XMPP, powered by ejabberd server , which is developed by ProcessOne.”

So I stand corrected as possibly ‘outsourced’ was too strong a word. However this makes the situation far worse as you bunch of muppets haven’t been able to make it stable since release.

From the second article: “We are once again delighted to have written a robust, ubiquitous software stack that makes such large-scale communities possible”

CCP are glad to have broken this robust, ubiquitous software stack that makes such large-scale communities possible.

But good job calling me out on that, especially considering how well it runs, it is definitely the sort of thing I would want to be associated with. Perhaps a much much closer look at the relevant code is required.

Oh, and there was this: Update On Chat System Issues | EVE Online

Which mentioned a return to the ‘old chat system’ should stability not return… so have things reverted back to the old system, because I certainly haven’t seen a return to stability for this “fundamental part of gameplay in New Eden”.

I also took a break from Eve ~mid 2016 → end of 2018, so do forgive me if I’m not totally not across its development.

So then, bottom line, @CCP_Explorer when will chat be fixed?

Regards,
Cypr3ss.

Those sites despawn a few hours after someone starts running it even without down time but yea a faster despawn like 30 min after a can has been hacked or something would be cool.

He’s a forum troll with multiple alts who’s only claim to fame here is constantly nit-picking for word definitions or sources about specific details without actually looking at them himself. Even if you answer, he will continue to move the goal posts and find something else to nit-pick.

That’s EVE: As soon as you undock, be aware you may lose your ship. No matter if you’re a hardcore PvP player or a carebear. Sometimes circumstances are weird.

Looks like it was utter time for that lesson

I experienced no particular differences to other days, perhaps it was quite few Anoms in the scanner and one security agent was hard to reach, but nothing I wasn’t able to handle. All modules reacted kinda normal.

Stop being mean to our devs.

I’ve been playing this game for over 2 years and live in null since barely one month old. Not loosing the ships i’d like to keep was the verry first thing i’ve learned.
Not being able to do the things needed for that because of massive lag and broken chat is not an acceptable risk.
The theme is “loosing a ship is ALLWAYS your own fault” - when thats not true then the game is unplayable for me, hence why blackout was a stupid idea and hence why im not fine with CCP wasting my omega time like this.

It is your fault, you went into a risky situation.
And only because of Omega payments there’s a server at all.
I wonder about your reaction to a blackout because tests would have been avoided at all costs - shudder.

thats easy enough - i went huntig for a few days untill i got bored of free kills, then i moved on to a different game.

See as a paying customer i have a right to demand functioning service. Not rebooting despite the chat server breaking even before downtime should have been is a joke.

If CCP were smart they’d have accounted for this by teleporting ships to hangar instead of exploding - that would have been a great opportunity and reason to really stresstest the server but instead they went for “eat ■■■■ and give me that data”
Thats just disrespectful and dumb.

Are you not running a time synchronization daemon?
100-150ms is the maximum deviation I tolerate in my local networks, and my tasks are nowhere near time critical.
Given your hardware, you should run on something like 15ms tops.

Never have internet issues, but since friday random disconnects. Other internet stuff is working fine, I’m on fiberglass. Saturday during the day it was every minute, other moments it was more once like every 20-100 minutes. Other fleet members having lag/disconnects at same moments. Already lost a ship to this, this sucks massively, no fun at all, please do testing on sisi, not tranquility.

I agree 100%:

I was in-game yesterday and in the middle of a jump warp to another system I got a message pop-up from Traffic Control saying that it would take 168 minutes to complete the jump. Then it started counting down and when it got to 143 minutes left, I got disconnected from server.

I tried to log back in but Launcher wouldn’t connect to server. I closed Launcher and re-opened it, logged in and went to read Eve Mail message I had received earlier from another Capsuleer, opened up Mail and the window was blank, then got disconnected from server again. This all happened within a 5 minute time period.

I very rarely have disconnects happen and getting one disconnect every once in a while is understandable but having two or more disconnects happening back to back within a short time period is unacceptable.

That was yesterday and just now today while sitting in station I got disconnected again. CCP Fix Yer Damn Game.

If you are looking into removing DT so that koreans dont have to log off, then i suggest moving DT to 00:00 UTC nobody is doing anything at that time anyway, everyone wins.
