Overpriced scam in hubs

So lets see if im understanding this right.

Sombody had a pencil. They offered to sell that pencil for 1mill dollars.

You looked at the pencil. decided you wanted the pencil. Offered to purchase the pencil. At which point a big warning popped up saying “this isnt normal for a pencil. Do you really want to buy the pencil”. You ignored said warning a purchased the pencil.

You got the pencil home at which point you realised you had just spent 1mill on a pencil.

In short another player offered an item for sale at a price. You agreed to the price.

Not quite. You got to the store and want to buy a pencil. It says SALE only 1 $ and small text mil, which you not even notice , because you buy this pencil every day in this store and the same pencil for 1 dollar yesterday and today someone replace the sign.
So you go to cashier and he asked you for one mil, you … wait a second ONE MILLION - forget it . Take your pencil back

Yeap, you probably right. If no one cares … then I guess it is what everybody like it about this game scammers and cheaters  I shut up :speak_no_evil:

so when the warning flashed up on screen?

i mean there is at least two clicks in the market. the first click asks you how many you wnat to buy and has a red or green % next to the listed price to let you know how it relates to the regional average. This percentage is in the multi-buy window.

If you say yes at that point if the item is signifcanty overpriced a warning box pops up saying………”this item is x% over the reginal average.”

So you clicked through 2 screens showing you the %. How many additonal warnings do you need?

Only one with my control settings. Or possibility to cancel transaction within 5 min

so you physically disabled a setting which was in place to protect you against these scams because it was a hinderance and then complain that CCP doesnt do enough to protect you.

Thats like complaining you went flying through the windscreen after a car crash because you decided not to wear your seatbelt.

The more details i hear on this the less sympathy i have.

I did not disable anything. I was not able to cancel transaction

if you didnt disable anything then you would have had a pop up warning after you clicked buy.

If you didnt get that warning at some point in the past you have ticked the box that says “do not show this warning again”

so either you said yes two times. Or you said yes once because you voluntarily turned off CCP’s inbuilt protection.

Like i said………All on you

It sucks that you got scammed. But I sincerely doubt EvE is going to change the caveat emptor nature of its market beyond the safeties that already pop up around the market. Compared to 10 years ago, the UI is way better designed these days to alert the user to scam contracts and sell orders. But it will always require effort on behalf of the buyer.

I guess if you really want to not be scammed, you can personally hire Chribba to mediate as 3rd party all your transactions, but I don’t think he’s in that business anymore, and I’m not sure you could afford him.

Yes, I had the warnings all the time, and that is annoying, because 200% ok for small item , but when transaction over a billion , I want to be in control.
Ok, forget it. Yes, it all on me no doubt. Except I could not retract transaction just

Yes , you absolutely right, a lot of improvement was done prevent scam. Does this mean it should be END? There is a lot cheaper way to do it. As example 5 min delay in transaction over a billion

You have the 5 minute delay today, by stopping and actually reading the details of the transaction you are going to do. You can read it however many times over in a period of 5 minutes, before hitting “accept”.

As I mentioned before, would you like to lose your home if you don’t spend enough time to read mortgage agreement. Mistake happened. People do mistake does this mean they have no right to correct them?

in the example you give………NO. If you sign the mortgage paperwork and default on the payments then………Bye Bye Home.

In a world where the only rule of law is “whoever has the biggest gun wins”, then sure. If it came to a dispute I’d whip out a bigger gun. Comparing real life to EvE is a losing gamble, so don’t do it.

It’s EVE. You can use your wallet log to identify the scammer, and then work at getting revenge, paying mercenaries, digging up dirt on them, and make it your lifelong mission to make their life hell. You have plenty of options besides the narrow “I want my money back”.

No that is normal mortgage, but you agree to pay 1% on your mortgage and after 3 years it is increase on 1000%. And yes Bye, Bye home

i dont understand what point you are trying to make.

you AGREED to buy the item for the price the seller asked. You werent scammed. you werent duped. An offer was made. An offer was accepted.

No it was not my intention to buy item for 100000 more then average price
