there is no wrong if YOU choose to not participate in player trades for money, but that shouldn’t be a reason to stop others who do want to. What gave me the right to judge are my inalienable senses. Everyone judges too. Have a favorite color? You just made a judgement.
Quote me where I wrote that I wanted to stop anyone from doing anything.
You judged me
I’m not a favorite color!
That’s the problem with these armchair dictats and tyrants, they want to force their opinion and choices onto everybody else thus depriving them of their individual choices.
I fully support thier individual liberty to choose, let me do the same.
In other words, akin to
I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It - Evelyn Beatrice Hall in 1906
We seen this play out with Hypernet, they have a choice to opt out and not participate, and even have it disabled on their account, they throw their demands to remove it depriving everybody else the opportinity to choose and participate.
Yes I did.
I would like an option to be paid in physical Gold sovereign coins.
Perhaps fine 9999 silver as an option too.
Then our discussion ends here.
At least you didn’t try to weasle out of it.
We can make a better ship on that pier. One with blackjack and hookers.
You judge whether or not to brake at a red light every day.
Not in the near future with telemetry boxes and automation and 5G.
Two edged sword. People who thought it a good idea will be cut by their own idea.
Exactly, but it cannot be helped.
It sucks so bad. Bring back Sommer.
- Don’t use it
- Ask him/her/it yourself
Great advice! Why didn’t I think of that?
My point was/is, there are no GOOD gambling alternatives.
But, thanks for pointing out the obvious.
Why don’t you build one?
Well, you will have to build a new Eve too then?
Gambling is illegal? What?
The only reason CCP pearl clutches its Eve ‘teen’ rating which is not even certified by anyone ie, pegi in a game with a player base whose average age is purported to be 36 is because CCP does not implement any account or user verification of any sort, which would be required in many IRL markets but chiefly the UK where Eve online server hosts from.
The reason CCP does not verify accounts is two fold, 1. it will slightly reduce account numbers from people who cannot be bothered to register. 2. It would show CCP’s complete lack of game moderation or implementation of a ban policy which leads back to point 1.
CCP will however soon have to do this as their subscription debt appears to be rising by the minute. Subscription debt is what happens in a MMO when players start accumulating reserves of game asset & game time, in eve’s case skill points and plex.
At last count which I did even if CCP did not sell another subscription from today there would be enough subscription debt to play the game for another 3 years for the pcu count, this of course is not tenable, and the server would close and CCP would be liquidated to repay ‘‘unfulfilled subscriptions’’.
Even if they maintain subscription CCP is in a strife over development. When you spend cash to develop your game, you want to see a return on that investment. However eve has a compounded issue, CCP owes the player base so much in game assets and game time, there is no likely return to be made. That means any new content can only be sold for $ and not via any in game currency. CCP knows that its base has little taste for pay to win, never mind the next stage which is pay to access.
The sensible option is for CCP to address subscription and in game asset debts by allowing commission based RMT. Then once the debt is settled go to a subscription only account policy to insure that the issue never occurs again.
Slightly reduce numbers? It’s probably going to happen at some point, having to ID verify to play “social” games like it’s coming to “social media”. In China they are trying to regulate how much gametime you have no doubt as it is considered “anti-social” and with Metaverse being a big push, combining social media and immersive worlds. It’s coming. I wouldn’t be surprised. In a few generations, this new abnormal will become the new normal. A quantified and measured society that’s also highly permissioned to enter (and stay in).
I doubt that CCP writes off subscription debt at the moment of purchase, instead of the moment of consumption. Maybe they fudge the numbers here and there when they need to meet some quarterly goal, but in general, whatever PLEX they sell is considered a liability until it’s used up.
Actually Valve wanted at some point to give a “social score” to gamers on Steam so they can control their behaviour and a way to prevent bad gaming.
Sounds very much like that social credit score in China right?
