that’s why you should create a game in real life…
I dont see how real life theives are relevent to a game which includes thievery.
But the idea that you arent friends with at least one thief in real life is highy unlikely.
YES. Apparently at some point all the originators of EVE decided “OK we’ve done our thing here” and moved on, because they had one thing they wanted to achieve and it was done.
They left Hilmar holding the bag and somehow he convinced himself that he and CCP were development visionaries expanding the horizons of computer gaming.
But the honest truth is, CCP is very bad at project management, mediocre and slow at coding, has little knowledge of sustainable game design, and is stuck on an island with a small population and therefore not a deep or broad talent pool to draw from.
They need to take a leaf from Dirty Harry’s book, “a man’s got to know his limitations”.
When you’ve only got one thing you’ve ever done semi-right, you don’t launch more failures. You learn how to do things right, fix your cash cow, then think about new ventures.
What if one doesn’t have any friends because he doesn’t need and/or want any?
I know from years working in I.T that maintaining or fixing legacy code is essentially just the art of looking busy. Bosses usually have no idea what legacy coders are actually doing…if anything at all. If anyone wants a job where they can get paid a lot for doing nothing…just ask if there’s any legacy code ’ needs looking after '. Entire departments have it down to a fine art.
According to you, thats sad.
No, I was talking about one-player corporations, not about not having any friends.
In a MMO it’s sad but in real life it’s smart.
No, you have that entirely backwards.
Its actually sad (as in opposite of happy) to have no friends in real life.
In EvE is smart to have a solo corp
I agree. It is pretty boring and bland, just feels stale somehow and stuck in time.
I think it’s sad. Especially in a MMO that prones cooperation and has mechanics destined to be used as a group.
I don’t know if it’s sad. I’m happy.
And yet Ive done rather well for myself. In fact Im pretty happy with being able now to PLEX my account for the forseeable future.
How does being in a group make one a better hauler, or explorer, or blueprint researcher?
I dont actually believe you have no friends in real life.
That’s great. I’m glad you’re able to do that. It’ll be a long time before I can.
You’re right, EVE can be played solo and I’m not casting aspersions on solo players. I’ve been solo since I started but I’m sure there will be a point where I will join a group.
Which group is the million dollar question.
I can’t help you with that. I don’t and I have nothing to prove.
Exactly. I’ve worked with a number of companies that have those teams (it’s not always legacy code, either). Instead of working with an “ok we’ll figure out how to get it done” attitude, they come back with “You want what? Wow, that’s… that’s really complicated. I’ll check with my team and see.” Then they come back and tell you it can’t be done, but, if you give them twice as much time and 50% more budget, they can maybe, maybe tweak things so some of it works and nothing blows up. No promises though!
Some people think I’m a bitter vet or a hater for criticizing CCP harshly, but really it’s just severe disappointment from well over a decade of watching CCP promise the sky and deliver a shovelful of dirt. With bugs in it. And then pat themselves on the back because it only took 6 months to do!
I like that. I’m stealing it.
Stop, thief!
Then why even mention it?
Its frightfully offtopic.
I mean, if you aren’t a thief I don’t see why it would be so difficult for you to imagine that there are lots of people who aren’t thieves and out of those could be members of my family and some of the people I knew.
Of course I have had aquintances that I found out were thieves. They never became my friends, for obvious reasons.
What do they say? The spirits I called?
Guys, please just stick to the topic of the post, then we all don’t have to get upset again
Guys, please just stick to the topic of the post, then we all don’t have to get upset again
I apologize.
I promise to make a conscious effort to stay within the topic.
Not upset. Just flabbergasted.
Perhaps some but really it is not that much of a change and there are always sales on etc and capsuleers can pay part with plex if they feel the price is out of their reach.
What if they were to just play 1 in out of every two months or extract some skill points and focus on the pilot for the role it does in New Eden.
