I suppose it’s useless to ask you to provide a link.
I’m wondering, are you aware that the types of posts you make here are not even close to believable?
I hesitate to call you a troll, it’d be an insult to trolls. I hope you post those things on purpose because otherwise you need serious help and I hope you get it sooner rather than later.
Q1 2022 looks to be higher than Q1 2021 but perhaps they anticipate q2… etc won’t hold past history and may be the reason behind the sudden Price/Plex increase.
I still can’t picture the actual reason by just comparing past content deliveries such as introduction of Abyss, New Line of Ships. Perhaps server tech replacement/power increases?
On the full report it reads New game preparation which does suggest new tech/hardware required to deliver such to us.
In saying this even though I am unable to picture the full reason for the price increase, I support the new look and future in gaming with Eve Online. See it is time investment I don’t wish to walk away from and I had enjoyed and hopefully still enjoy this social aspect in the future that I do get out of this community.
I also Play X4. EVE and X4 are nothing alike except they’re both space games but the comparison ends there.
If EVE and X4 were watches, EVE would be a Vacheron Constantin and X4 a Patek Philippe.
EVE revenue isn’t spent on EVE development. EVE revenue is thrown away on various side projects as CCP flails around trying to invent their next cash cow.
I don’t know what their monthly gain/loss is but it’s not from “keeping the servers running”. When they say “new game preparation” they don’t mean “new stuff for their EVE game”, they mean “money we’re blowing trying to make a new game”.
When Hilmar says 2/3 of CCP’s employees are new since the last Fanfest (2018), you didn’t think they were actually hiring those people to work on EVE, did you?
We could run with a brand new thread to discuss this topic alone “new game preparation” though as we discuss about the player count and wishfully see a greater amount of voters with the pole at top of this thread so let’s continue as much as we can on this could we?
new game preparation
What does this mean? So let’s throw one out there.
A Company upgrades their internal mainframe’s security licences and while doing so includes on the purchase order a new qubit system from IBM with delivery date 2025
So when a Company Purchasing Officer submits a requisition for that new state of the art development system to sit along side the soon to be delivered IBM Qubit, there are a couple extras added ontop the purchase order such as 100 new top of the line office pc’s to be able to run Eve Online with eye candy graphics.
Now I may be reaching deep here but why can’t the Management Team at Headquarters in Iceland have new Office Furniture also?
I am going to go with that for now and say it is not for the next cash cow as I could keep spending here and it’s still all for New Eden’s finest. Like who paid for the renovation of Jita 4-4? I am sure that budget went right out the window going by what looks as a half completed planet. No wonder the Gallente / Caldari War is brewing.
But this is precisely why I suggest allowing for the creation of groups other than corps. In the real year 23000 there would be all manner of groups and associations a person was part of. That might even include cults, religious groups, secret societies, technical groups, etc, etc. This would allow ( just like in real life ) for two people who were in different corporations to never the less be members together of some other group. I could even envisage some global, corp independent, rebel group that contained members from multiple different corps and alliances…a shady background group just as appears in many sci-fi stories. This would expand the plot and subterfuge of Eve hugely. It would make it more like a real world in which people have all manner of competing and often conflicting allegiances. And that could only be good for the game.
Indeed, one need only look at The Maquis in Star Trek…members of Starfleet secretly also being Maquis members…to see the potential. This would increase player count, because the current corp/alliance structure just leaves people feeling too small a cog in the machine.
