Player Count

I tthought the groups are:
Caldari
Gallente
Amarr
.
aso.

What to heck is that?

It’s actually wise for a company with only one successful product to diversify into other areas and markets. Of course they should also continue to develop and strengthen their core product at the same time. With a budget of over $60 million per year, and a staff of hundreds, CCP has actually managed to do neither.

List of CCP Failed Projects:

World of Darkness(2006) - Dark fantasy MMO, killed by total mismanagement.

EVE: The Second Genesis(2006-2007) - Collectible card game (CCG). Decent reviews, unable to compete in already-dominated market.

DUST 514(2009) - Mediocre FPS in oversaturated FPS market. Used Sony backing to develop, so made it exclusive to Sony console products. Coded for an outdated console (PS3), never ported to anything else (re-coding was too hard). Went out with a whimper.

EVE: Valkyrie(2016) - 1st person space combat, jumped on VR hype train before VR or CCP was ready. Developed, re-developed, cancelled.

Gunjack(2015) - VR arcade shooter for Samsung Gear VR.

Gunjack 2: End of Shift(2016) - VR arcade shooter for Google Daydream.

Sparc(2016) - VR sports game, decent reviews, limited market. All VR titles scrapped in 2018.

Project Legion(2015) - Attempt to make a shooter for PC. Gave up during development, replaced by Nova.
Project Nova(2018) - Second attempt to make a shooter for PC Unreal Engine 4. Scrapped because it was meh.

Project Aurora(2018) - CCP’s first stab at a Mobile EVE Game, EVE: War of Ascension. Gave development to PlayRaven, who gave it back to CCP, who gave it to CCP London, who apparently stopped talking about it 3 years ago? Couldn’t really find much info on this one.

EVE TV series: shelved to work on Valkyrie, then shelved again to work on Alpha so they could sell the company. Supposedly being Frankensteined back to life.

All that said, CCP isn’t completely leaving EVE by the wayside here. They’ve also launched failed projects for EVE - Walking in Stations, Resource Wars, and arguably the Edencom side of Triglavian Invasion.

Current Projects:
Unnamed Shooter, CCP London - CCP won't let two failed shooters get in the way of making the perfect Eve Online FPS | Rock Paper Shotgun

M5, CCP Shanghai - mobile 4X strategy game

One notable quote I ran across while making the list:

Chaos-Magic 2 mo. ago
Pandemic Legion
“this is called throwing the baby out with the bathwater. CCP could be known as the unicorn studio with the best MMO / space sim / sandbox game ever. instead they are leeching the goodwill of the player base to try be fotm in three other genres which are already saturated. it reeks of hubris.”

I chatted with a player I noticed has been in NPC corporation for years. I got curious ( of course ) and asked him.
He said he’d rather be in NPC corporation than being just another faceless low-level ( of trust ) linemember.
I can’t imagine ending up in a corporation of a thousand members where I’d feel like a solo player because I be left to my own devices.
But with this idea, some sort of “underground” shadow organizations, I think players would feel that there’s more to get into, more options than just a massive group of players.

:open_mouth: I had no idea there were so many. And a tv series too?
smh

That’s no excuse lol I think the max people online in any corp I’ve ever been in has been 15. No one hides in the shadows with those numbers.

close enough to what I try to express regarding your experience.

Of course it’s possible. “shadow” agents can be in a group of three and the two others wouldn’t know anything about that person’s affiliation. That’s what “shadow” means in this context.

Maybe a beginner corp where no one knows what they doing sure but not an actual corp.

Wait I thought that quote was Don’t throw

/nm they want to get rid of the good baby to also get rid of the bad baby

kind of like how they don’t mind breaking some good eggs to bake that cake discussion.

You only end up as once of the faceless if you show nothing that puts you above the other faceless chavs in the corp.

The problem is many people expect things to be just handed to them. So they either become an f1 extra
or npc loner that has peaked like they did in high school.

Why not?
There are double and triple agents who lurk within governments.
Why would it be impossible within any corporation in EVE?

You are not even safe in your own personal corp

What if the faceless loner pilots who learnt to do everything for themself one day decides to join that group of other faceless f1 extra pilots. Does that make the once faceless loner pilot their FC leader of the group?

/
I look in Fleet up option and I never see much action like not alot of FC callers wanting to accept faceless pilots.

That may be. Stll, there are faceless members of big corporations. The way they became faceless is irrelevant for the discussion we’re having.

In the kind of world we’re living in, I can only imagine kids or teenagers to expect that. Adults know ( or should know ) that nothing is free. Homeless dying in the streets situations demonstrate that point without ambiguity.

Worthless thieves

Not sure, do you mean my wallet has nothing worth in it or you meant to write the thieving alts are worthless?

Not all thieves are bad :] Some I would say even keep society going.

@ResonanceOfWar
That’s a whole debate. A few posts aren’t going to do it justice. I try not to judge people but at the same time, I haven’t met anyone who liked to have a thief around.

This faceless pilot is a real issue and when the fanfest shows us Faction Warefare and teases us with a side segregation of Concord that had become bad and either the Gallente Federation or those Caldari misfits will be needing many faceless pilots myself incuded to join fleets and to carry out Faction Warfare for that new currency that was spoken.

Will that content only cater the non faceless pvp heros of New Eden or will it start to envolve to include all pilots? Someone share what is the point if nothing is done to help the pilots who want but don’t know how?
