agree, it wasnt 2-3 ships that attackd my Friends! they got swarmd by a whole fleet! no Chance for 1 new player!
im playing now since 4months and even i in my best ship and gear i dont stand 10seconds against these fleets!
in my (now dead)corp the veterans told me not even try to fight em and just wait until they are gone…… well its not fun to wait 1-2days until i can play a game
im all for player interaction and open pvp but what is the main idea behind the npc Invasion?!
the Blackout was a awesome idea and they removed it!!! but the crap stays forever?! WTF
What “download everything” button? Even if there is such a thing buried in the interface somewhere, that doesn’t mean it’s a known solution to the player base as a whole.
I certainly remember the transition to “dynamic” resource loading. I don’t remember there being any alternative announced, but it’s been a long time since that happened.
i lost some stuff to a player gank and the admins gave me my stuff back because the Moment the blackscreen was gone i was already dead!
i clickd leave Station button, the screen got black, i heard some explosions and Shield warning Sound and the Moment the blackscreen was gone i was dead!
good thing was i got all my stuff back by ccp! (atleast the ingame support is nice )
If you mean “Download the full EVE game client” in the settings window, then yes that is definitely buried. I never even noticed the settings button before until now. A very small, unlabeled icon in a corner of the launcher definitely constitutes “buried”.
You mean in the traditional corner spot where most settings icons in games are are, at the same size settings icons normally are?
Ok, it’s not the traditional gearbox, instead being an E for EVE, I guess that could be hard to spot.
There is no general standard for game UIs or any other type of software UI. I’ve spent three decades developing software; there are no universal common standards for settings features.
I just opened six game launchers on my computer, all of them have some kind of settings menu located in a corner.
Sure, there is no common standard, but saying you never ever found the settings menu on the EVE launcher…
That says you never bothered looking for it, it’s not like there are that many things to click, and they have even put two ways to get to the settings on the launcher.
It’s possible I accessed a settings window on the launcher several years ago, but if so I don’t recall it well. Clearly I’ve not had much need of it.
There are no universally intuitive icon-based user interfaces. If you think otherwise, try talking to some software UX people and see what they think of that.
Why do you keep spamming on about ‘No universal blah blah blah’
I’ve already agreed with you that there isn’t a universal standard.
There are however some commonly used icons for settings (Note, common does not mean universal, nor standard), and taking 30 seconds to look around using the hover info to tell you what icon is what is hardly buried.
Besides, I’ve noticed in the past that even when you agree with someone, it still often sounds like you are not.
While one certainly could spend time hovering over every visual feature of an interface to probe it for tooltips, it’s not reasonable to expect that every user will do so. If a feature is expected to be commonly accessed, it should be readily noticeable. That’s basic good interface design. If it’s not very visible, then expect a decent percentage of users to not discover it.
“I’m having issues loading space, I wonder if I should check settings places”
That’s what a normal person would think. Since they don’t seem to be getting the experience everyone else is getting.
“I wonder if I should ask about why I might have such long load times”
Also a normal response.
“I’ve done nothing for years to rectify this issue but complain about it”
Not a normal response.
Ok, the gear icon in the lower left corner and the ‘3 line = E’ icon in the top right corner of the launcher doesn’t even remotely look like access to settings. Most other games make that option highly visible and specifically designate it as ‘Settings’.
Course this is CCP who revels in hiding important info.
Anyway, the option to ‘Download the full Eve game client’ should already be automatically selected. The options that should also be automatic is the ‘Verify integrity of downloaded files and purge extra files’ option in the ‘Shared Cache’ menu of the Launcher along with the ‘Clear all cache files’ option in the Esc menu. Those 2 options help make the game run a lot better and should be activated automatically after downloading patch updates.
since a few weeks i have serius Trouble loading eve… sometimes it stucks forever at loading and also after undock it takes endless times to get into. i check eve tool and have lots of packet looses.
Correct me if I’m wrong and this wont work in an npc sta. But I found that if I take control of my sta first before I undock, I “seem” to undock with less lag.
