Potential Fix for WHers for the 500mn HIC

Or why not just fix the problem properly, it’s not as if this hasn’t been a known issue from long before Brisc was elected to the CSM.

I don’t buy the ‘I don’t want them to yank this because of the push back and let this broken mechanic continue to fester’ argument. It smacks of ‘I got elected, so I have to answer to my constituents.’

The reason there is so much pushback, and the reason the ‘intended purpose’ argument is terrible is this is a sandbox, and the announced change doesn’t build, move, or destroy sandcastles, it simply remove one from the game.

Make an alpha account and give yourself a rolling sigil. For around 3m ISK you can put 122 million tonnes of mass on hole one way. If you get rolled out it’s not a terribly big deal

and to add, in the other the CSM mentioned that we cant have reps for each sec space… i would have to argue that… if you dont think independent or collaberated efforts would work then the CSM is broken altogether.

the CSM should have one rep for each sec class space, thats only high, low, null and wh space… you need 4 reps that work on those sec specifically, while the rest of csm do their thing repin the people of those sec areas…

why even have a CSM if you can conduct the same corruption in here as they do in real life. we can do better ccp… come on. relationships are a two way street, and you have to enforce fairness… that is all I think any of us actually expect.

we should have csm that think of this ■■■■ before ccp is forced to release changes prematurely… that is the whole intention OF csm I thought. face palm.

This has been the excuse given every single time fixing this issue has been brought up in the past and then tabled.

We’ve got to get beyond this.

People have said this about every change included in that Dev blog at some point today.

I’m listening, and I’m trying to come up with a solution that solves both problems.

How about removing the ability to fit 500mn to hics?

well if the shoe fits, it seems like a good temp fix or immediate fix at least. Everyone has a porpoise and it takes less time than that of a HIC to train for, I think… so if a new player seeks a wh roller alt, it may be better with the mining ship than the t2 combat cruiser. I know I wont complain about my roller being much less expensive, thats for sure!

Catastrophically bad idea, making you train to do something you were already able to do before. No serious player wants to be treated like that. Rolling HICs are not a balance issue. They do not deserve removal as they play a very serious role.

If it was up to me, I’d just give HICs the functionality back in one form or another. The existing dynamic was perfect:

  • using a cheap and low-sp ship (like a Higgs’d cruiser) let you roll crit holes but was a gamble as to whether you would get rolled out.
  • using a somewhat more expensive HIC allowed you to roll crit holes with more certainty that you won’t get rolled out, but at the cost of risking a 200+ million ship.

This was neat and relatively convenient for those who wanted to commit, while unpredictable to those who wouldn’t. Diverse gameplay with multiple choices, even for a mundane operation such as rolling holes.

“Just make an alt lmao”

That is the worst solution to a problem I’ve ever seen. Getting an alt should never be the intended solution for a problem that shouldn’t exist in the first place.

As people have stated here, this shows more that CCP doesn’t care about the impact their decisions have on areas outside of null. Decisions like these make you wonder if they even take a second to think about what they are changing, and why they don’t take the feedback that experienced wormholers can give them. There are multiple suggestions in this thread that have been cooked up in minutes that would be a better solution than the current one.
It wouldn’t be a problem if CCP could make quick changes, but from past experience, this doesn’t happen, so they need to make changes with that in mind and not go “Oh we’ll just fix that part later”.

What an absolute mess.

they dont like that idea, it conflicts with other ideas, setups, or roles it seems. which is weird cause one of those roles is the consequence they are trying to remove lol…

It’s bad enough we get treated like second class citizens, we don’t need some prom queen who has no idea how wormholes work coming in and making it even worse.

realistically ccp simply isnt gonna hold off on these changes, so we’re left with few options.
we can
a) wait till ccp releases some mass reducing mod or a similar change soon™ and sit here with shitty rolling for at least the next months, potentially longer
b) All get behind a simple, quick and easy solution that if you look at the numbers works almost as well as HICS, and try and get in implemented by the time the patch hits

Bickering and complaining about ccp isnt gonna help with anything, if we dont find a solution wh rolling is ■■■■■■, the change is gonna happen, so lets get some constructive discussion going on what brisc proposed (wich imo is a good solution)

If you are set on using a Porpoise, why not include the Noctis and Primae hulls

oh lets not go there. i trained 6 accounts over the course of 5 years just for wh space only have ccp change wh space so much that its just not really feasible anymore, so those 18 chars gave me 225 billion isk after scrapping them all…

way to go ccp! thanks for making me rich again. :frowning:

We’re not trying to fix rolling HICs. We’re trying to fix lurch HICs.

What is a benefit to WHs is a detriment to other areas. We’re trying to fix a legitimate bug.

And I think—I mean, I could be wrong here, but I’m using an em-dash unlike you damned barbarians on the csm with your misuse of the en-dash AND AP-style spaces, so I don’t think I am—everyone appreciates that you’re trying to find a better way to take to CCP on this, Brisc. Even if they’re a little short-tempered right now for a number of reasons, I have to believe they’d prefer you doing this to just ignoring the concerns.

But… and just humor me on this one for a minute, if you could… what’s wrong with just having a script that makes the bubble generator not bubble, but instead produces mass reduction? Why is that not a viable compromise? Was that discussed as an option? Did they give you NDA’d reasons to believe that can’t be an effective solution?

I appreciate the idea that you find me attractive enough to win prom queen.

Agreed. Just spit balling options.

I know it won’t get held off because it’s probably already committed into test builds and they are fully into this. .

If the porpoise change can work, cool. It’s a work around which in most instance will work.

well seems like you should fix the “unintended consequences” before you release them? that way people dont invest years into something you are just gonna nerf or remove one day down the road…

Well, then quit bitching about the CSM members you wind up with when you don’t get involved.
