@ OP

I’ll try to explain. Eve is very unique because to a good extent it can be shaped to your liking. You are simply existing in a virtual universe and you can be very powerful and have lots of fun.

Try to look at Eve as your very own movie “The Space Adventures of Blade Anninen” (sounds cool huh?) It could be a story filled with danger, harsh lessons, humble beginnings, and success.

So, the facts are this; Eve online is a game where you will have to organise your own protection for newbros. Be patient, learn the game, and apply what you’ve learned. I think you like the game secretly because you took the time to try it. You have an insight into how players think, you were tricked into going somewhere and got destroyed, learn from that and never do it again. You were also given a gift from another player which should show you some of us are really cool.

Seek out more cool people and make friends, learning the game with friends is fun. Get yourself into a big corp that has reputation, you will enjoy the corp/alliance/comms chat. There are plenty of newbro friendly corps who would be happy to take you on and show you the game. Make sure you at least try this before you leave.

On the contrary, this is what often happens.

Eve’s players are pretty open and forthcoming about how the game works if you don’t act like a dick head.

But, like you’re doing now, new players are told by ‘vets’ that gankers and deccers are awful people. Bullies. Sick in the head. So of course they don’t want to ask ‘what just happened?’ when you’re telling them no one is going to explain it to them.

Look at every ganker/wardec thread on the forums. Filled with the very people who conduct such activities giving genuine advice on how to survive in new eden.

The pvp’rs aren’t the problem here. YOU are!

Or you know, the times gankers bring out about talking to people are the exceptions, not the rule, of ganker behaviour and most of the time it is trolling about buy a permit.

Indeed.

Get killed, don’t rant but ask questions. Sure, there some knobheads that will troll peopl, but most will quite happily explain the what and how of losing stuff.

Even works with market scams, I lost almost half my net worth to the margin trading scam, pm’d the guy and asked the how, he explained in detail how escrow and margin trading can be twisted. Lost a couple of hundred mill to the Phaser Inc. ponzi scam too, IIRC an article was posted in the gaming press somewhere, where they explained everything; lessons were learnt from both.

Yep, lose a battleship to the likes of @Ralph_King-Griffin or @Omar_Alharazaad in a frigate, they’ll happily tell someone how not to die (so easily) next time if asked of them. I’d like to think that the more reputable mercs are not adverse to handing out advice, even to their prey of the week, when approached correctly too. Gankers aren’t much different when you get through the RP, permit aside, most of what they preach is common sense and they’ll happily expand on it, add a little knowledge and experience and it’s possible to be virtually immune to them.

Agreed, more than that why would a newbie want to ask a question of someone painted to be an awful person? That kind of propaganda merely discourages people from asking at all.

The worst of it happens in NPC corps in my experience, so many negative types that deter people from exploring what Eve has to offer.

TBF as @Nevyn_Auscent points out there is a fair bit of permit spam in those threads; it’s overused to the point that it’s becoming a meme.

Personally I prefer memes with pictures of critters.

It’s pretty simple and depends on the attitude of the poster who opens the thread or the conversation ingame. If all you hear from him is complaints, insults, blaming others and the game then yes I will tell him to calm down and get a mining permit,

If on the other hand he asks how he was killed or how he can protect himself or do something like that himself or in general is just a decent person who doesn’t verbally abuse me, he will get advice, links, channel invites and this will probably be the last time he got ganked.

Also we have people like @Black_Pedro who has the patients of a super human being and ALWAYS tries to reason with the person and explain the situation and options he/she has with calm and understanding words.

Then we have also a whole bunch of toxic white-knights here who will agree with everyone willing to verbally abuse in-game criminals or call for a nerf and signal them that they are in the right to do so. They actually make the situation worse and foster a climate where this kind of attitude looks ok, when in reality it will sooner or later get them banned.

Yeah, they do. They’re mentally ill. Disconnected from reality. They grew up in a world that is ass backwards compared to the rest, disconnected from their own nature, forced to deny their own feelings in favour of “being polite” and there is no way of telling them. Worse, it seems that these people are being raised into literal sociopaths. Just imagine how bad it is going to get in another five to ten years. 1984 is literally calling.

It’s no coincidence that my posts get flagged during USTZ.

Safe spacers. Protect the children. It’s ■■■■■■ up and they want to force it onto everyone, so everyone thinks the same and behaves the same just because they can’t handle themselves and rather blame everyone else.

It’s even worse…they can’t handle clear words as what they are…simply a spoken out truth…they understand named clear words only as an insult and don’t even TRY to look behing the meaning…what is said is meant, there is no room for sarcasm or irony, there’s only what is said…and that’s all…if there is no cotton wool around words they get mad because YOU CANT’T SAY IT THIS WAY!!!..

It’s nearly funny but the fact that it is true is sad on the other hand…

Sad snowflakes…

You are allowed to do that…what should not be is beeing able to force YOUR hardmode to anybody else like it is in eve…there has to be a safe place to play …

THAT is the problem PVP guys do not get…that THEY are the annoyer that annoy people which have another apporach to the game…in their world they “just play eve as it should be” and they simply don’t understand that “their world” may be not the world of others…or -even worse- they don’t care…

This is like the guy that buys a house near an airport and then complains about the noise.

Also, claiming that others shouldn’t be able to play how they like, is no different to what you are saying here. It’s just a different form of wanting to force a style of play, by limiting what others can do, in a game that is famously permissive.

You are wrong I’m not the problem i don’t want to change anything in the game. Just the attitude of some ass. and I never said pvpers as a whole where bad people, the problem are some that get bored or can’t beat people in low/null and try some killmails on players very new to the game

You are talking about yourself. Congratulations.
Now find professional help, because you really need it.

And I stumbled in something very funny, as gankers and wardeccers claim that there should be no nerfs to avoid gank and wardecs, that people targeted should adapt, evolve, etc. Then when people move to a recently created ALT Corp or use alts to mine and haul , they go to the forums claiming that it should be changed… very funny xD. Happened to me, some corp wardec us, we made alts to keep stuff going and they got mad! saying bad words, yelling at local. Was beautiful to see in the end how they begged to us to accept end the war, cause they where dying on another wars upkeep hahah

What about Newbros in LowSec?

Many are/may be a Cyno alt, PI transport etc…

No, we completely get it, we understand that when we engage someone in non-consensual pvp, that we kill him and loot his wreck, we ruin his day. That’s the power of violence and you don’t understand that. No matter the quality of your arguments, no matter if you are right or wrong, i can force my will onto you by kicking your arse. And you know what? I love that.

Can we call them NPCs?

That’s the whole point of eve. Full time pvp in a sandbox environment. To allow safe spaces would be detrimental to the economy and sandbox. It’s not going to happen. What you want is fundamentally not eve. THAT is the problem.

Do you ask for safe spaces where you cannot be shot in other pvp games like battlefield? COD? Overwatch? Teamfortress?

Why do you play eve if not for the pvp sandbox? Honest question.

No this is the problem.

You are calling them bad people, and not just here but probably in the game as well.

They are just playing the game like anyone else. And if you weren’t so toxic to them, they wouldn’t be so toxic back.

Their attitude is not the problem. You’re attitude is the problem. You are the ass.

Funnily enough some people actually do that in team fortress 2, they walk around as spy acting like a crab, it is some sort of meme thing, doing nothing, and get all triggered when they get shot in da face. :joy:

Truthfully, if I’m confronted with a victim who’s genuinely curious as about what just led up to their demise I’ll happily give them advice. And I’m not talking about silly shite like ‘don’t shoot’. I’m talking about things like ‘look, you’re dealing with a small fast mover and it’s hard as hell for your guns to hit em. Now, they’re madly intent on doing you harm and you’ve no web… so you gotta do something about their transversal velocity. Snuggle your fat ass right up against a large collideable and do em from there. Your speed doesn’t mean drek to them, but theirs means everything to you… make em bounce and get some clean shots in there.’

Just because we’re doing you harm doesn’t mean we don’t like you… that bit is up to you. Generally anyone who engages me in pvp in high sec is pretty much my most favoritist person of the day. I relish the fun we have together. And for me it’s like bullfighting, sometimes the matador loses.
