Perfect example was a long time ago we wardecced a corp. They were pretty evasive but ran missions and tried to mine none the less. It was good old fashioned cat n’ mouse.
With minutes left in the dec i homed in on someone who was running a mission. He warped out before i landed on grid and with only two minutes left in the dec he could just wait it out in station. Now back then aggression mechanics meant that shooting a persons wreck (even an rat wreck) was like shooting the player itself and started a 15 minute aggro timer. So i popped a wreck and waited outside this guys station.
You can guess what happened. He waited for the dec to end and then undocked whilst i still had aggro on him. I popped his empty hauler (not his mission ship) and he warped off in his pod. Few seconds later he started a convo and simply asked how that was possible. I didn’t go ‘gf’ or taunt him. I explained what i did and what he should look for before undocking and then (after waiting the timer out) showed him how to ctrl-space after undocking and how to create insta-undocks.
I cant actually find another game to match it. It isnt for everyone and people need to read up before doing stuff. Virtually all the games out there now spoon feed players way too much, at the expense of game play and challenge.
PVP is more than just shooting each other in the face.
Player vs Player: whether that’s combat, market, power, control, scamming, extortion, high sec mining corps with ore buyback programs that are just scamming their members, competition as a whole. But also, shooting each other in the face.
Someone who builds stuff to then sell it on the market tries his utter best to outdo others in cutting his costs, while trying to outdo the rest selling his wares at the best prices and locations. That is PVP.
the producer/trader sells his wares to get rich meaning he’s going to try and rip off others as much as possible. The pewpewer doesn’t like that obviously but he has to accept it or put in effort to avoid it.
In turn the pewpewer tries to get kills, loot, gank, control or extort the producer/trader as much as possible. Who obviously doesn’t like that but has to accept it or put in active effort to avoid it.
Perfect harmony, you can’t have one without the other. Asking for high sec pvp to be removed would then also mean removing the option for miners to outdo other miners, producers to try and undercut others and force traders to all sell and buy at the same price.
I too want a safe space where buy and sell orders are the same price at actual value, so I don’t have to deal with other people trying to get the best of me. And that also isn’t going to happen.

As has been stated by others above, and is part of our corporations mission… Newbies need education and reliable, accurate, information to allow them to make real informed decisions on how they wish to engage the environment.

funny thing, the value of said items in a “safe space” approaches zero since all but a few things cost are driven by player demand, effort, and risk. Glad you realize this will not happen, but this is also why you wouldn’t want it… your efforts would eventually have no value.

As a player, I’m only obligated to myself, to enjoy the game.
I believe I do, in fact, help to retain players, but it’s more of a by-product of my ganking activities or an altruistic side project when the mood strikes me.
Though, if I’m in an introverted mood and just feel like 'sploding some noobs and going about my day, It’s not as if I’ve done some egregious disservice to the game. You carebears are silly!
