You know Eve PvE is designed on WoW lines right… The internal names are even dungeons. And they deliberately use hordes of weak npc to make the player feel powerful.
People are actually asking for more niche style pve which has a competent ai and moderate difficulty (without being the super op unless you use the perfect fit a lot of stuff like burners has been)

Yeah alright, same here.

NPCs are a decoration for the real game, who cares?

That term predates both WoW and Eve by a couple of decades, dating back to tabletop RPG games; most MMORPG and other RPGs are basically D&D and/or wargaming online when stripped of all the fluff, so the jargon would probably have translated over in the early days, with both players and developers using it.

WoW came after EVE was already released and ‘dungeons’ is a game design term, not a WoW homage.

I hope not…

Yes but the design isnt meant so a handful of players can terrorise thousands of potential customers into not bothering to become full time customers.

Thats just bad for the game and bad for business.

Pvp EVErywhere is good, since it’s been proven this is a lasting pvp game by being just that way… it would be ruined otherwise…

and, I believe that if a certain new player gets killed , ganked, lost one’s best ship or even scammed all the saved isk on a bad trade
…but…
still really likes the game, as it is, as it has been and hope it will remain…the most possible outcome would be that the player would keep playing, but that would depend on how capable the player would be at handling the worst possible situations…

first char ever made was killed by rookie station guns for not knowing I could not shoot the station…really believed my race was my enemy…lol… UI was a total mystery …
uff… logged off,
but… wrote the game name on paper to come back one day…

the example may show that terrible things happen always, also later scammed, ganked, ruined by wardecs and so… but those experiences won’t be bad enough to those having the right will, those whom might love a fun gaming experience will not leave for such reasons, instead, those would make themselves stronger and stay.

I really didnt do much pvp in the first year or two.

wo? wo? …
I have a hound onto a container at a safe station hangar… must be hungry…, but I haven’t seen more bugs than the sleepers …

but gimme the idea…
… I might go wowers headhunt into New Eden…JPG

Proof?

Ultima Online.

Is it? Why do you think that? Are there not other pvp games? Why is it considered terrorising in eve but simply playing the game in other pvp games?

As an mmo eve has been one of the most successful computer games made. It only started struggling when the wardecs were nerfed and crimewatch made ganking less casual. Having a small gang of new players chasing around miners is very engaging for the small gang. They learn the mechanics and they have an impact on the game around them. But that’s not possible anymore. The nerfs to decs, just like ganking, has resulted in bigger but fewer groups to offset the costs. Now 50% of decs are done by 5 corps.

You may think it’s the cruel side of eve that hurts retention but it’s not, on the contrary it’s shown to be a good thing for new players. Far FAR more players are lost to boredom, lack of direction and confusion. We aren’t engaging potential pvp players and future content creators at the beginning of their game.

Over 70% of players are in hi-sec, and the pvp here hasn’t just been neglected it’s been damn near stripped out. All there is for players to do is ‘level up their raven’. And that loses 80% of new players within a couple of months.

Faction warfare, the alternative small gang area, is becoming very quiet. One side starts to dominate and there’s less and less reason for the losing side to play.

Null is one way to get noobs playing but it’s not popular. Big battles aren’t what everyone is looking for and then you’ve got tidi and lag fests, sign upto various forums, sit and wait in station until summoned and little independence and freedom. And most recently goons ‘won’.

Wh’s are just hard to live in. Especially as an alpha. And low sec is a barren wasteland. Combing several of the bad parts of null and hi-sec with few of the good.

No mate. You couldn’t be more wrong. Letting players isolate themselves and giving them more safety is very bad for business (it’s honestly hurting retention). Getting players under the wings of good players, into fleets, into pvp is how this game survives. And we need to be able to make this happen in hi-sec at least.

actually experience and talking with players before, during and after wars - or not when they dont come back…

You?

Diablo, call of duty, unreal tournament, command and conquer…

So why did my new players stay but yours don’t?

Is it cause you don’t support and teach? Do you tell them to log off during a war?

you have 7 people in your corp with no real pvp activity since june.

Are you really attempting to take that stance because it doesnt really stand on solid ground does it?

3 of which are not even in your corp anymore…

Stop now before you make an even bigger fool of your self

No one wardecced jabbers since june. And look what happened when they did. And despite the last couple of decs lasting a month, we lost no one. Infact our membership increased during the dec.

The lost players? All joined after the last dec. Edit- luhya is one of my alts and in a corp with Galium.

So tell me, how are wardecs ruining the game for Jabbers?

nothing happened, literally nothing shows on your war reports; no kills, no losses for your last 2 or 3 decs.

again im struggling to see where your coming from; “no where” isnt a place and pulling opinions out of ones arse doesnt exactly provide anything for intellectual debate.

You’ve literally checked the killboard and told me you’ve seen kills in June. Were they from hi-sec? Yes. It was probably a war then wasn’t it? I haven’t been suicide ganking have i…

But even then, thats not what this was about was it? I didnt lose members from wardecs (if anything i grow under decs). I actually lose my members to my messed up timezone.

If i could speak Russian I’d have a billion members and single handedly saved the game by now.
