I’ve been doing that most of the time since December.
Between the ham-fisted deployment of the Forsaken Fortress and the invasion mechanics, I’m doing that until I’ve given my best effort at making out-of-game contacts with people I want to stay in touch with. Then lights out in my hanger.
I used to do that, although it was less fun as they took away the counter, either that or mine bugged out.
Maybe there was a reason to read the patch notes after all.
I have a head start on you. I saw it coming as well.
you have to spin a certain number of times before it appears. It’s 20 or less, but there’s a minimum.
EVE ever is? There’s a time when it’s so important to save $15/month that you’d spend your ISK on paying for the privilege of playing instead of on something fun?
Not saving anything, spending it on eso instead
I don’t like the concept of alpha state much. I mean, sure, it has some potential value to stay in touch with your ingame friends without the need to spend money. But playing as an alpha? I don’t know. Sounds horrible to grind endless hours just to “earn” the right to play without restrictions. It’s a hobby after all and spending 10 or 15 Dollars per month for that hobby shouldn’t be an issue. I really feel sorry if it is, but nothing in life is really free and no one can expect from CCP to be some sort of charity.
Alpha accounts are useful for giving potential new players a look at the game. They’re also useful for keeping the numbers of players up in-game.
But. I won’t play as an Alpha with the constant reminder of all the trained skills I can’t use.
You really don’t need the client installed. The true gold lies in the forums. The amount of trash posts. Old arguments being rehashed over and over by the same people. Ranting threads. The monthly “EVE is dying” threads. The list goes on.
Never ending entertainment.
Do not underestimate the contributions Alphas can make in PVP, or how much they can earn per hour in fleet settings
So what was the CSM doing when CCP told them about their plans to cancel asset safety for precisely the players it was initially designed to protect? I wonder.
Rubbing their hands together and grinning with an evil grin probably.
Ouch! Dang @Destriouth_Hollow that really sucks!
Wish you wouldn’t. Remember, you achieved all those thing regardless of what eventually happened and doing those achievements can never be taken from you…you made those achievements happen!
However, if you do choose to stop EvE - then all the best to you anyway wherever you go.
If you do leave, I would be very grateful for anything you chose to leave for me. My goal is to fly an Orca mining support ship and give boosts to other players while I mine. Yes, not a big goal for many, but it sounds good to me.
Anyway,

I completely understand how someone might feel if they stored a bunch of stuff in a citadel and then come back and it’s gone. I’m supposed to be some kind of evil high sec griefer bully, and even I can see an obvious problem with CCP’s recent policy change.
CCP promised asset safety in those structures, just like they promise asset safety in NPC stations. Once CCP starts to renege on its own assurances, anything is up for grabs. They can do anything they want, and they might do anything they want, so I’m not sure why any sane person would want to invest any time, effort, or money into a game where the rules could literally change overnight. If the rules can change for player owned stations, then they can also change for NPC stations. It’s a slippery slope, and it sure is slippery.
Maybe next week they will introduce a rule which lets me extract all your skillpoints via a forum post. Who knows. Why not? If CCP doesn’t follow it’s own rules, I imagine a lot of people will lose faith in them, and that’s bad for the game.
A nice summary of one of the problems.
It all boils down to whether it’s worth it to invest time or not, and when you can’t take a break from a game AND COME BACK reasonably intact, you’d better be prepared to commit to the game that hard… or walk away.
What they did is what this player detailed, asset safety existed before, now it depends on something as odd as whether the structure is fuelled or not. This is catastrophic for people who trusted this protection while they were de-subbed, CCP should have thought about that aspect.
While I may agree that the player concerned was foolish in trusting CCP, I do not believe that just applying this change which will impact many players who were de-subbed is at all clever and they have now lost this player and perhaps many others who trusted them to maintain the same mechanic.
Not everyone is of course paranoid or cynical enough to make it difficult to be a victim, but if this is the bar that CCP has set then they should be careful not to end up with a game with just scammers and griefers in it and a few hardy folk who like to operate around them. Of course they might just want that, then downsize and all that…, you should not moan if there is no one left to shoot!
Oh, yes, I get that, that’s what the discussion here is about. I thought you meant they did something else to asset safety in general, because I read the patch notes and didn’t see any other changes.

This specific change is external to the ages-old battle of words between the carebear and the “griefer” camps. This is something that affected everyone equally, since any kind of player can go on a pause from the game.

Oh quit being a drama queen, you could have added more fuel at any time instead of waiting until the last minute.
This point struck me actually - do you think the OP waits until his car runs out of petrol(gas), leaving him stuck on the side of the road, before he refuels it ?
