actually it was clear to only those that new exactly what it was.
I just thought clearing the sites completely of everything was giving the standings, i thought killing the rats was giving the standings, not the structures. Until i read a few posts here, and then did the math.
I will be sure not to use “unintended methods” when running these sites
… well I would be sure not to use these “unintended methods” if I knew what these “unintended methods” were.
Of course, how I usually run drone sites could be using these “unintended methods” but I will never know as the “unintended methods” were never mentioned.
… and if I run a drone site using these “unintended methods” and CCP call me out for using an exploit I will point out that I have no clue as to what these “unintended methods” CCP are referring to actually are but I did read that there were “unintended methods” .
What if I always destroy all structures because explosions? (Also, I just did a mission that demanded the destruction of a bunker. It was a requirement of the completion.)
Why is it a problem to have positive standings with both the Trigs and Edencom? Following question to this one: why do we have skills that allow us to gain standings faster than we would lose them? Correct me if I’m wrong here but it is possible to have relatively high positive standings with all empire factions AND all pirate factions at the same time.
Just let us buy standings with PLEX already. We all know that in two years, you will do it anyway, so just save some time and frustration and let us do it now.
It’s not about double-checking their code. Standings have worked this way since the game launched in 2003. This code is as old as the game itself. It doesn’t need checking - it’s working fine, and doesn’t need to change. If they didn’t mean for players to gain positive derived standings from shooting Rogue Drones, they shouldn’t have set negative standings between Trig, EC and RD factions. That’s how standing works.
This is about CCP not understanding a core mechanic of the game as well as the players did, then declaring the players’ superior knowledge an exploit.
I don’t think that’s the best way to frame it.
It’s more CCP didn’t expect players to knowingly abuse it, and lets be honest here, players doing the exploit knew it couldn’t be the desired path but did it anyway, in such scale.
Impossible. They just found out about it. And, despite this goof, CCP is not that dumb. If they knew about it, they’d totally expect players to knowingly abuse it, and would have fixed it, or put the exploit notification in the patch notes.
I more or less have only logged in to get daily rewards for months because of the Triglavian stuff…but if I am reading this correctly, I can get positive with both factions and regain my gameplay by running drone sites?
And it’s ok as long as I don’t do some weird system running exploit certain…people are doing? But as long as I just play through it normally I can get those standings without being banned?
I think that’s what I’m seeing. This is so great, I can’t wait to play again. It’s weird to get this news this way, but I’m loving the ability to get back into the game.
Thank you to whoever figured this out and made enough of a problem of it so that whilst I was logging in to get the daily login rewards I could see it on the launcher. I would never have known otherwise and would still be playing a ridiculous fantasy MMO I don’t really enjoy much more than Triglavian problems.
CCP as usual made a bunch of bugs, did not notice them and joyfully declared an exploit… it’s so simple - instead of fixing this ■■■■, you can declare it an exploit!
