Resource Redistribution Update

I would like mining to become more interesting for active players, not for it to become a hassle with a single block of ice per rock. Hlamon’s idea of adding a prospecting puzzle is more the direction I’d like to go. Not a ‘full effort’ puzzle like hacking relic and data sites, but a lazy interaction that will reward people who watch the screen instead of Netflix.

I didn’t draw the ships into this thread yet and I’m not planning to either. I think we should leave the discussion we already had about afk Orcas in the other thread and look at the resources themselves here!

Mining is a slow low effort playstyle and in the basis I’d like it to stay that way. I just think there could be a small bonus in it for people who pay more attention.

Exploding ice is the obvious answer.

And also make mining lasers be capable of causing targetted damage to ship modules.

Preach it, sister

You could take this to its logical conclusion - remove the difference between mining laser and PvP laser, so any laser could both mine and inflict damage on others.

Why just lasers though? Let doomsdays work like big mining lasers too!

No it would not be more interesting.
Because you would be constantly playing the minigame.
It works with hacking because you only spend a small portion of your day actually hacking a can, the rest is searching for the can. Mining is constantly mining, it would not be fun to constantly play a minigame.

unfortunately yall forget that mining lasers are a very low yield laser that basically separates actual ore from waste “rock” and a tractor beam coupled with them pulls in the tiny useful particles.

more or less mining lasers are more akin to some sort of sonic drill than a laser.

Thats the idea.

Give the miners a defensive weapon and give a reason to slap mining lasers on everything.

I imagine its a low frequency pulse wave, and using scifi logic could be tuned to pierce or essentially evade a shield and do extremely small amounts of damage to precise liocations.

Hence targetting specific modules but with little or no hull damage.

Active miners already do make more than AFK miners. The longer you keep your mining laser going the more your skill bonuses pay off. You do not get a bonus when you are AFK . Not sure if you knew that or not.

Would you care to provide an example of what you are saying here, as it doesn’t make sense as I read English.

note to everyone i never afked mining cause i would lose my rorqual and hulks i fly in null . cause the corp i was in rented space . so no afk mining or we would all lose our ships . was kind of stressful 70% of the time but good stress . loved it but now i am mining in high sec wondering what next lol to funny how you bust your butt to make something awsome in this game and BOOM ccp takes it all away from you . i visited my old renting spot in peragon well my toon was still in a ship there when i signed in . ppl there told me there just spining in the stations waiting on what will happen next . wow

yea im dont ranting now thank you for lessoning and replying to my stupidity

you keep spouting the same thing “CCP ruined my game” but yet they reserve the right to ■■■■ with your playstyle.

CCP MAY FIND IT NECESSARY ON OCCASION TO MAKE CHANGES TO OR RESET CERTAIN PARAMETERS OF THE PERSISTENT GAME WORLD MECHANICS, INTERFACE OR FEATURES OF EVE ONLINE IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN GAME BALANCE AND ENHANCE PLAYABILITY OR PERFORMANCE FOR ITS SUBSCRIBERS. THESE CHANGES MAY AFFECT OR CAUSE SETBACKS FOR THE CHARACTERS YOU’VE CREATED

This is question of balance. Keep mining as it is now, but add prospecting minigame for active players, to set up mining bonus for asteroid you will mine next.

No, it’s a question of enjoyable gameplay or not. Not a balance question.

I’m talking about having more options. How having more options result in less enjoyable gameplay?

Because it is a false option.
Doing the minigame becomes the new baseline, if I do not do the minigame I am effectively penalised relative to other people as to what I can make, as the mineral costs will adjust to account for increased supply which means I make less than I used to if I ignore it.
Therefore I am forced to do the minigame.
And as I said, by the nature of mining, I am now forced to be constantly playing this minigame.

This is fair, low attention gameplay - low rewards, more attentive gameplay - higher rewards, this is proclaimed CCP goal.
