No no, there’s been an overlapping sequence of them for about the last seventeen years. ![]()
A) 100 ISK is cheap, but it ain’t free.
B) I really doubt the industrialists who like building and selling things would be, no.

Ha first time I’ve logged in, in a couple of months…
So, if I’m reading the patch notes correctly, CCP are taking away (or at least drastically making it more difficult) for players to be self sufficient?
It doesn’t sound like a good idea for a variety of reasons but I’ll reserve judgement until CCP have tried it. I imagine the scarcity of lowsec minerals on the market will be highest because it will be easily the most risky to mine. Maybe some groups will be lured by big margins but it’s hard to imagine it being very profitable considering the interference they will encounter.
Who’s going to build anything outside highsec if you have to either consolidate your minerals from all 3 k-space areas of the game or buy the ones you don’t have?
Well i guess the fix would be to provide a mission pocket so that the player can mine Omber.
I still dont think theyre gonna know or care about this change though, to be honest. Theyre new. They dont know any better, or worse.
Oh they won’t recognize it as a change, just as lame, whether it “always was that way” is moot.
In the mind of a new player the simple translation is: To manufacture any item no matter how simple, you have to go to the “PvP Zone”.
IB they can buy mats mined in low sec and null
We know it is not that simple, and that High Sec is also a PvP zone, but they don’t understand the game at that depth.
New players, or CCP?
the first two, I already asked
Mining missions I thought those suckers spawned their own ore (I lack experience with them)
Timezone has always been an issue. I see rookies at 10 am my time asking where all the asteroids went (in rookie systems)
m
Correct. The missions ore worth 1% of its real counterpart at best.
@CCP_Psych f you wanted to reduce stocks why not just make it so that ore/minerals degrade over time, with say a max lifetime of 6 months.
I want to put this bug in your ear.
Long ago, AFK mining was not really possible, Botting Yes, but not plain old AFK mining.
The reason was simple: Your hold would fill and mining would stop.
It was a really basic throttle that prevented mass AFK mining.
When they gave Orca the ability to mine effectively they broke the throttle, because they created a mining vessel that didn’t require a user to move ore every few minutes.
All the issues with Ore are downstream of that simple mistake.
Good change. Now fix the AFK Orca mining.
If they fix the Orca they won’t need this or any of the other ore related changes.
The Ore change is still needed. This solves completely different problems.
Distributing the resources gives all the spaces more purpose on their own when it comes to mining. Since mining is the bottom of the PvP food-chain this will incentivize more conflict in places that are now just completely underused for this sort of thing.
No it won’t, mining in low is going to be done by large null blocks.
Low is now a suburb of null.
I don’t see how that is a problem. What I said still stands, it will give more purpose and use to those places. It doesn’t matter who ends up going for the opportunity.
Last time I did a mining mission (years ago), the special mission ores could still be refined, So I was (incorrectly) thinking that the missions may be unintentionally farmable for non-local minerals.
Orca’s are not mining ore AFK in any kind of serious manner, even if you split the drones. The rocks are too small to matter, and the mining is so inefficient.
Go and try it and see how much you actually mine in 10 minutes while in the ‘AFK Orca’ Mode.
They could just buy the minerals.
Someday it will be necessary to pay for the functioning of the gates, for maintaining the stations in working condition. For every ton of cargo that is in the warehouse.
More drama is needed. More battles, big and small, more problems. The high sec must disappear, it will be torn to shreds by the invasion forces. Alliances will be severed. Powerful forces will invade the entire cosmos, and entire star systems will disappear. Terrible creatures will roam the space and attack everyone. Empires will send summons to their citizens and call for war. Each will have a limited number of clones, and after 20 clone losses, you will need to create a new paid pilot without studies skill points. It will be possible to capture clones into slavery and make them work for themselves. New electronic warfare modules will be added. It will be possible to disable and destroy station modules and take away ships and cargo. It will be possible to take away the subscription time by defeating the player in PVP. The black cat will walk along with the red rooster, many players will shed tears of grief, and even more - tears of joy. Thus, many weak ones will be able to gain strength and accomplish a feat. Beginners will immediately learn to be strong and will know about it. This will be attractive. Then the galaxy will start dying. It will be getting closer and closer and only the strongest will gather in the last system. The last titan will create a new galaxy with his explosion. And there will be a lot of minerals everywhere. But they will no longer be needed by anyone.
ps real heroic and epic music will be added.

I find your claim that afk orca mining to be the problem to be dubious.
For anyone that has actually mined in high sec with a industrial command ship it’s evident that rocks pop way too quickly for you to afk longer than it takes to make a sandwich without drones going inactive.
The point I made in my post (the one to which the references are being made) is that at present for the career agents’ manufacturing tasks, the only mineral that the new players have to buy (unless they get lucky with a Jaspet or better anomaly appearing near them AND they being sufficiently aware to go and mine a bit of the rare stuff) is zydrine. For the amount they need, very affordable at the moment even for a new player with little ISK.
The problem is that you assume that CCP’s gamble pays off and trade happens between HS, LS and NS in sufficient quantity that a new player can now afford not just zydrine but also noxcium and isogen to build that T1 frigate for the agent.
The whole alleged point of this redistribution malarkey remains scarcity. What if no one is selling zydrine? Or nox? or isogen? Or it is unaffordable for the new player?
Yes, the simple answer might be to inject some omber into one of the missions, just as mission nine in the industrial agent series gives a nice supply of kernite right before the need to build the frigate in mission ten. I also outlined other options on how to avoid this problem.
My point in my original post is that there are a number of ways in which CCP COULD avoid screwing the career agents (and thus the NPE) but that requires them actually to think BEFORE they make these changes. Rather than their all too often habit of changing things they do not understand, then saying, “Gosh, we did not realise that would happen, do not worry, we will fix it. In about six months’ time…”
I work on the basis that anything that messes with the NPE is not good for the health of the game.
