Revamped Daily Rewards System

This is more “fair” than “anyone can go buy”. The buy option tilts in the large towards the real life money bags folks.

Real life is full of RNG.

I … I mean … I don’t want to judge, I think the new options will be fine, but a new player to eve online who finds a scrollbar confusing feels like a really low bar considering the number of subsystems they’re going to have to get their heads around once in the game.

Going forwards on reading about these changes, I think, I’m going to have to reframe my perspective and assume that when CCP says ‘newer player’ they probably mean new to gaming, maybe even new to videogames, because frankly the daily rewards interface is probably already one of the least complicated on the market.

@CCP_Fozzie I’ve said it in another Singularity post, but I guess I’ll say it here again: The random skill points is utter garbage ! One account got 14k, another got 20k (and others got boosters or skin). This is clear RNG, no clear progression. Really, who said that the 30 day progression bar was confusing ? Who ? WHO ? Monkeys? We don’t even needed to count to 30, the system was doing it.

Let me guess, some people were curious about what happen on day X of 30 when you go from Alpha to Omega ? Simple, say it is day 30 and you haven’t claim yet… Buy your Omega and you can now claim 150k today. Similar to special events login reward when you can claim all Omega Items even if you only sub on the last day. But what is confusing about this once you said it ? Will you remove the login reward in special event for this exact same reason ??? If you don’t and it is the reason, then you are hypocrites.

Again, who thinks 30 day is complicated ?
Now, the new system makes things complicated. How many people will feel the need to keep an Excel sheet recording their daily login SP to make sure they actually got 150k SP per 30 day period ? Only me, because of fear of missing out?

RNG for this is annoying as F*** for no good reason.

You can contract them to me, my industrial might turn them into T2 when it has the skills

Do we still need to click the claim button every time on the character select screen or can we just get a system that automatically does that once we select a character?

I know its a first world problem but its just an irritating pop up that isnt needed.

@CCP_Fozzie if you fear that some players, with the current system, may subscribe for 1 months only on day 30 and claim 150k SP, and then be able to claim another 150k SP by the end of their one month subscription that they don’t renew. If that is the actual issue. Give out a fix 30k SP every 6 days for Omega, or 10k SP for Alpha. No RNG, and greatly reduced “risk” of players being clever with their sub.

LOL whoever thinks this should HTFU straight into Stardew. EVE isn’t for them obv.

If everyone is getting it, it basically has no value. You failed econ huh? Only EVE players would cry about free stuff. We murdered our grim dark universe, not CCP

Bring on the Hello Kitty skins!

I used those BPCs :(. Even mined the minerals myself bwhaha.

Honestly tho, seeing peeps complain about free stuff in this thread further shows EVE is no longer grim dark.

I for one welcome our new Hello Kitty overlords. Please bring on the anime crossovers post hate so we can get our fav waifu on our ships. Thankee.

Grimdark has very little to do with dark colors and grime, and everything to do with human horridness amongst one another, juxtaposed against the backdrop of futility despite a seeming future presenting itself just out of reach, but never too far to try and pursue,… which EVE does surprisingly well despite the visual shifts, and despite what you seem to be thinking about the players having killed it, the setting remains rife with it

Yesm, I am aware. And no, it does not anymore.

If were still grim dark, we wouldn’t have people crying about ganking and engaging in SA/harassment because their pixels got popped.

If we were grim dark, they’d simply get vengeance.

No, no it doesn’t. And we, the players, have made it so. CCP is simply responding to the salty tears.

The EVE we loved will continue to down this road until it is dead. And that is on the players.

So bring on the crossovers and anime skins. We deserve it. We’re the ones who are killing the game in the first place

These would fit in setting, with some tweaking hilariously. Animation and Holofilm works and such, getting popular enough to warrant trying to market to Capsuleers. Stuff like this has happened before like the Hadean Horror and Star Captain skins, or if we really want to go down the rabbit hole, the Mind Clash Tournament skins like Red Claw Sable, which is literally based on an in setting E-Sport

To be clear I have nothing against ship skins at all.

I just find most of the current crop of players to be risk-adverse carebears. I long for the days of IPO scams and selling shuttles for a bil and infiltrating a corp only to SD their titan.

Sadly those days are gone now.

I was going to make a BIG thread about this in the ideas section, but this announcement kind of preempted me. That said, there is one MAJOR issue that needs to be addressed with the reward system in general, and that is:

  • Being a major hassle for players with many EVE accounts

I really wish that you would simplify both the claiming and redeeming processes with regard to the reward system. When running more than a few accounts, it becomes a nightmare going through the queues every day. And the effect this has, at least on me personally, is that it makes me not want to play.

This gets especially bad during events that offer unique rewards that I want (like limited-time skins), because I can’t just skip these like I do with the generic daily queue. Going through the queues on multiple accounts makes me so sick of the process that I often find myself not playing on those days. And when there are no special events, and I can skip the daily queue, I end up being much more active in the game. Seriously, it can be like a 30-minute, rage-and-OCD-inducing process.

So if you want to alleviate this issue, please do something that makes it easier and more convenient to claim and redeem these rewards. Here are some sample ideas:

  • Allow players to claim rewards directly from the launcher, without having to log in. You can simply have a button next to each account that can be clicked on to get the reward without having to log in and do it from the character selection screen. Even better, have just a single button that claims the rewards for all accounts at the same time. (This is the best possible solution.)

  • Automatically perform daily claims on all accounts that have logged in during the past X amount of time. (Also a good solution.)

  • Automatically claim the rewards for all accounts that are registered to a single e-mail address when the rewards are claimed on one account in the set.

  • Drastically reduce the amount of rewards during events by consolidating them into fewer days (e.g. there’s no need to have 4 different days giving various SP amounts, when it can just be 1 day with the entire amount of SP).

  • Allow the entire set of event rewards to be claimed as a single “crate” instead of multiple claims over many days. When the crate is redeemed, it applies the entire reward set at once.

  • Considerably increase the amount of days during events when the event rewards can be claimed in proportion to the amount of rewards (e.g. a 3:1 ratio, instead of the extra couple of days we have today).

  • Get rid of item expiration timers for permanent items (e.g. crates, skins, SP). Keep them for boosters only.

I know this seems trivial for many people, especially those with fewer accounts, but believe me when I say that this is actually a very annoying issue. I’m not asking for the rewards to be changed, just the process of claiming and redeeming them.

@CCP_Rattati I want you to see this too, since I think you’re concerned with the amount of people who are actually playing the game.

In abyssal PVP, the boosters will be blocked based on their meta level, the filaments have meta level restrictions which will stop them from being bought into the abyssal arena.

X-1 & X-2 = Allowed in all formats. (Meta 0)
X-3 = Allowed in Meta fit formats. (Meta 3)
X-4 = Allowed in T2 fit formats. (Meta 5)
X-5 = Allowed in only faction/unrestricted formats. (Meta 6)

You lose the boosters on pod death so using them in the abyssal arena gives you a good chance of dying with it. It only lasts 4 hours (So you can’t use it forever), they have 1 week expiry timers with you getting 1 every 3 days it seems. So you can’t really stack a bunch in your redeem queue ready to go.

They also all share the same booster slot (Slot 5) so you can’t stack them together.

Having multiple accounts does not really help in the proving grounds. Since you want all the wins on a single character to get the top 100 leaderboard rewards, so it doesn’t make sense for people to rotate through their accounts to abuse the characters with the best drugs. Also a big part of the leaderboard rewards is the unique abyssal skins and obviously you want those on your main not a random alt account.

Thanks for the summary.

The “problem child” might be T2 1v1 formats. 4% to so many attributes can certainly be somewhat of an advantage. Especially in a mirror match.
But as said, a single loss of a pod can be enough to lose that advantage. And wtih supply limited by time, I don’t think it’s going to be a big issue.

It also seems benefitial that the boosted attributes are overall lower, but spreaded out far and wide.
That way it’s harder to get that scenario where you have that “one ship” that becomes really strong. Like the Abaddon once had with the boosters that increased it’s raw dps. At least the boosters from the login rewards will not be able to do that in a reliable way.

Another sideffect is that the booster feels useful for more than one activity now. That’s certainly a nice touch.

Me gusta.

Will the drop table for filaments be affected?

@CCP_Fozzie Well, do we get one random type of award every day? Then let’s count the number of SKIN`s? 260 new and 148 returning 408 in total. let’s say we get a skin, weeeeell, once every 4 days. 4.5 years to get them all?

and there i was hoping that the sp rewards are finally gone and i don’t have to log all my accounts every day to collect them…
