Revamped Daily Rewards System

Yes please this guy is right

Seriously?

Maybe play with less accounts of tire not enjoying it? Or turn off the rewards screen?

This is looking so sweet. That Tristan SKIN is especially great! Those boosters will have wide wide wide applications! Newbros will be stoked about the smaller SP chunks.

Thanks!!

I’m fine with not claiming most of the rewards, but when it’s necessary to go through 12 days of an event queue to get limited-time skins you’ll never be able to get anywhere else, or to get the 150,000-350,000 SP that the final days of major events usually provide, is when it becomes a problem. Especially for accounts in Omega status, because then it’s like you’re paying for these things.

This isn’t a big ask. All I (and I’m sure many other players) want is a more streamlined method to claim these rewards. “Well if it annoys you so much then don’t do it” isn’t really a good response to something like this since it wouldn’t affect you or anyone else negatively if they made some changes.

I think the change is good, though I can’t stand expiring and soulbound rewards.

Permanent skins instead of temporary ones is great!

And I get why people would want BPCs removed, but honestly that was one of the things that most often made me try a new ship. I wasn’t going to buy the BPC anyway (so no impact on the market) but I usually build them just to fly and try out, and lose the ship doing whatever. For me, the BPCs were a major way of incentivising me to try new stuff.

So I’m hoping some people from the team go to read my post. I’d like to add one thing: if the concern is that simplifying reward redemption to such a degree (e.g. button in the launcher, or even automatic for active accounts) will negatively affect login figures, try it. Do a test run and see what actually happens. What if I’m right, and player activity in-game goes up as an effect, even if just a little bit? Then you’ll be happy you did. Gamers tend to appreciate and respond positively to convenience. There’s not much to lose by doing a trial run. I’d imagine there wouldn’t be a crazy amount of work involved to implement this either. I’d much rather be doing “The Hunt” sites than clicking “claim” buttons across my accounts.

Your ideas (e.g. button in the launcher, or even automatic for active accounts) break down the whole concept of such a thing as a LOGIN award. The answer is in the title. The game thanks you for logging into it, through this it provokes you to play. You logged in got a bonus - such as a booster, which is generally useful, you do not want to lose it and went to farm for example anomalies. Or when you login some your corpmates start some PVP-roaming and you goes with them. etc etc etc.

Hi Destiny. Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been discussing your post with a few folks internally this morning so I can confirm that it’s something we’re talking and thinking about.
I think ideally the problems you’re running into would be solved by better multiaccount tools (such as a true master account system) but although that’s something I’ve been hoping for for a long time it’s also not something on our short-term roadmap to my knowledge.

I can totally understand why you’re proposing ideas around ways to distribute the rewards without requiring logins, but unfortunately those tend to act at cross-purposes to the goals of this system which is to give everyone a nice little extra excuse to log in daily and help keep players engaged with the game. We’ll keep discussing this, but I don’t want to overpromise.

I’d like to see some evidence that making users get to the character selection screen to claim rewards actually entices them to play the game. Not disputing it in the absence of such, but I can tell you with certainty that when I’m claiming rewards, forcing me to go to the character selection screen doesn’t entice me to go past it (especially on the accounts that I wasn’t planning to use at that time), and no one I know whom I’ve asked feels any differently.

But if this is your argument, then trying reward redemption to a single “master” account would be a workable idea, since it would treat everyone equally regardless of the amount of accounts they have. Make me “log into the game to get enticed to do things,” fine, but don’t make me do it manually for every alt.

Thanks.

I do understand the intent of the system, believe me. All I’m saying is that you should try a different approach. What if it ends up conferring even more incentives to play than the current system?

I also understand that it will take some time. In the meantime, maybe you can implement some kind of stopgap measure, such as having a period at the end of every event in which a person claiming rewards gets the rewards for all days up to that point. The normal daily queue would still act as an incentive to do it daily, but this would at least act as a stop-loss measure for people to not miss out on special event rewards if they can’t deal with the daily process for any reason.

To help visualize what I mean, let’s imagine an event that lasts 12 days and has 8 reward days. A player could redeem once on day 4 and get rewards for days 1-4, and then redeem on days 8-12 and get the rest. Or they could just redeem once on days 8-12 and get everything, but wouldn’t get the benefit of the daily rewards. Think along the lines of Omega retroactive rewards, but for the whole thing.

One more thing I’d like to suggest is maybe don’t offer very unique rewards (e.g. skins) through the daily reward system, or at least add an alternative mechanism for their acquisition. Having to grind the reward queue daily for years to get some skins you want isn’t very user-friendly. I think some players brought this up already. Like you mentioned Zakura skins, which I really like. I would hate to grind the queue for years just to get the ones I want.

Maybe instead of skins themselves, give players "tokens’ that they can redeem for skins of their choice from a special selection?

I think the intention of ‘daily’ rewards is to make you interact with the game daily, and your suggestion wouldn’t do that.

While I agree it could be nice to do the daily interaction for multiple accounts in fewer clicks, I don’t think it should be done in fewer days as that defeats the purpose of the daily rewards.

That’s what the daily rewards are for. I’m talking about events, specifically.

I really doubt that forcing players to do daily claims for event rewards fosters additional activity. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I firmly believe that people either log into the game to play, or they don’t. If someone wasn’t going to play that day, forcing them to log in just to grind the reward queue is very unlikely to change their mind. But not doing so would create a lot of convenience that would entire them to play more when they are able/willing to.

Anyway, CCP built EVE upon the usage of alts, so they should address this in order to help their highest-paying customers enjoy the game more. This isn’t some kind of ridiculous demand. At least just let me click through the stuff once, like in all the other games I play.

Those are just additional special daily rewards, but daily rewards nonetheless.

With the limited duration of events they try to play on your Fear Of Missing Out, also known as FOMO, to give you an additional reason to interact with the game daily.

I do dispise tricks like FOMO though, so yes, please let us claim all previous special event rewards on any day during the event, rather than making players log in on particular days in order to not miss out on these ‘very special time-limited rewards’.

Exactly. FOMO is a terrible thing to do to your player base, especially the long-time players and collectors.

But like I said, I’d even be fine with FOMO, if I only had to go through the motions once per day instead of as much as two dozen times sometimes.

Make me log in to play, fine, but don’t make me log in on, for example, characters I only keep around to use for locator agents.

I think I’ve said about all I could on the matter, but I really hope CCP makes their best effort with this in the coming months.

Very nice change! Thanks.

Lol, hit a nerve there

Hey CCP, just wanted to say that I really like this change! Thank you for giving this feature a quality revamp.

Well… with the current system, the monthly SP reward IS consolidated, AND you know how much SP you get.
Now, with this new system, we’ll get random amount in chunks. Meaning multiple claims and no way to know how much you got in the last 30 days unless you use an external tool to keep track.
