MEHATOOR VI - 24th IMPERIAL CRUSADE LOGISTIC SUPPORT, DEVOID
The Amarrian Orthodox Church, Sedevacantist has released a holoreel proporting to show the ordination of a Mr. Clytoneus, brother of the notorious capsuleer Mr. Nauplius, as an Amarrian bishop. According to the Sedevacantist Church, which believes the Imperial Throne to be vacant, the ordination was performed by an Amarrian bishop secretly sympathetic to the views of Mr. Nauplius. The voice and face of this bishop was disguised in order to protect him from retribution by the Theology Council, which rejects the opinion of the sedevacantists.
According to Sedevacantist Church spokesman Calyce Io, having its own bishop will allow the Church to ordain its priests without having to rely upon defectors from the official Amarrian church. Ms. Io added that these additional priests will be needed to run the new church plants that the sedevacantists plan to open in the Gallente Federation over the coming months. As reported earlier, the Sedevacantist Church opened its first branch in Sinq Liason last week.
Theology Council spokesman Mani Bahram was quick to downplay the ordination of Mr. Clytoneus. “The ordination appears to be valid in the sense that the ordination rite was properly performed, but it is not licit because this rogue bishop did not have permission to perform it. Hence, Mr. Clytoneus is still not a bishop,” said Mr. Bahram. The Sedevacantist Church rejected Mr. Bahram’s view. “The Amarr have long recognized as licit those rites performed under extraordinary circumstances, for example a deathbed baptism performed by a deacon when a priest could not be found in time,” replied Ms. Io. “Because the Throne is vacant, Theology Council permission for an ordination is impossible, and thus the Amarrian Orthodox Church, Sedevacantist must perform its own ordinations.”
Despite Mr. Clytoneus’s ordination, Mr. Nauplius is believe to hold real power over the Sedevacantist Church. According to Ms. Io, Mr. Nauplius has taken the title “Doctor of the Church” and will be working to assist the church’s priests with theology and sermon material. The Theology Council refused comment on Mr. Nauplius’s new title.
