Should the Game consider Tourists?

I have always been here but if I see a problem that could be easily fixed, I suggest it. It is not the law - it is a suggestion. Using the forum is the only way I know to get the attention of the Developers.
Having responses such as yours help to sway opinion either way and thus make a contribution.
Tourists, by my definition, are NOT invulnerable but have a Brer Rabbit ability to duck real trouble when it comes their way. I really like your use of ‘legitimate’ as a way to describe a normal player - what is an illegitimate player? Perhaps a Bot or an Alt? What about an Alpha?
I don’t really understand your final paragraph so I will not respond to that-sorry.

But you just said you have no problem with EVE. In your own words:

I do not have a personal problem with Eve.

You can’t have it both ways.

If you can’t see why this is still a major problem that can be abused by scout alts then you don’t understand the game anywhere near well enough to be proposing changes.

I really like your use of ‘legitimate’ as a way to describe a normal player - what is an illegitimate player?

Someone who demands that CCP remove all difficulty from their path so they can click the “win” button and receive a meaningless participation trophy. AKA, your proposed tourists.

I don’t really understand your final paragraph so I will not respond to that-sorry.

What’s so difficult to understand?

If getting to nullsec is difficult and dangerous then exploring nullsec systems is an accomplishment that has value. You set your goal, overcome the obstacles in your path, and have the satisfaction of victory.

If your proposed tourist option exists then exploring nullsec systems is just a matter of setting a destination in the autopilot and waiting until you get there. There’s nothing to overcome and therefore no value to the accomplishment.

You would expect someone with a name like Voets Toets he would understand the meaning of “as-is”… ja nee boetie

Ja Nee, Boet. Jy kry net wat daar is. Soms is dit nie genog nie maar jy kan nie weet nie.

Immune to hostile intent tourists would be bored stiff, can’t imagine why anyone would pay for that. Must be almost as exciting as watching the old TV test cards, although I don’t expect some of you remember those.

Right, here we go - defending the un-thingy thing.
Firstly, I apologise for treating you as a regular non-person I meet on the game forums. You can obviously read and comprehend and I am pleased to meet you. I will probably hit on you for lessons.
Ok, my words: problem
I play Eve every day - the only problem I have with her is the Downloads. Nothing else. Especially of late! This is not my fault, I promise.
Hmm, the alt scouts thingy. If you have a normal alt scout that is NOT a problem, then why on Eve would a Tourist Alt Scout be a problem? If you think that a 5 minute ‘hang around’ time is too long then say so.
Trophy: ow! This is complete SH1@ and not worth responding to. What is a participation trophy?
Null Space: nullsec is only dangerous because of people. There are no geo-physical events that could cause death so exploring is made easier by not having to deal with players.
Sh1t! I have been up for 20 hours and have run out of beer.
Goodnight

A tourist (spy) you can’t kill and you don’t see an issue with that. :face_with_monocle:

You can’t have it both ways.

Because a normal alt can be engaged and killed normally. A tourist scout has a 5 minute invulnerability timer which can be reset by rotating through multiple tourists.

What is a participation trophy?

Where your team goes 0-20 but mommy gives you a shiny trophy because if you don’t get a trophy you’ll feel inferior to the kids who won the championship. Or when you are too much of a helpless perma-victim to ever leave highsec so you expect CCP to give you a special tourist alt that removes all risk and lets you "win’.

Null Space: nullsec is only dangerous because of people.

Exactly. Removing the threat of other players renders any exploration achievements worthless. This is why your tourist idea can not happen.

Kind of like playing in god mode, seems like a good idea for the first 10 minutes, but goes downhill quickly after that.

Eve online actually has this invulnerable to other players feature. Look into “station spinning”.

this topic is pointless

Hey voets. If you wanna go neutral into low/null without risk, fly a Victorieux Luxury Yacht. 210M ISK for the hull, but a hell of a lot of fun to fly.

Hmm, may be so - I do not have access to the actual figures. I am thinking of the new dimension that EVE has entered into: the puppy era. This is the era when the jewels/clothing/charms/skins you can buy are more important than actually playing the game. From this perspective I make the recommendation of a Tourist class - never in the past!
I would be a Tourist because I like certain aspects of Eve but not others. I am not a killer by choice and I play my games according to my life choices - silly, hey. I also don’t like the situation where a player now has the edge if he/she has this or that drug onboard. I understand this is akin to a ‘potion’ in other games but they were impersonal - you vs the toon. If Eve were player V toon, I would not blink. But it’s not. You might kill me thoughtlessly whereas, I would rather not kill you at all.
Fly Safe, Merin_ if anyone will allow you.

Hmm, go walk around Sowetu in Nikes and see how quick you lose them

Well, I pay for 12 months at a time and I am bored stiff with mining, manufacturing, trading, T4 missions etc… I would like to see all of Eve purely for the experience without having to fear pirates etc… I am just waiting for my timer to expire and I am gone. If you read any of my posts in this thread, you would know that I do not ENJOY killing things - personal and eff-all to do with you nor with test patterns. I have 70 years of experience in life: my parents fought in WW2, I grew up in the 60’s (remember?), I survived Apartheid, Conscription and racial hatred - I DO NOT NEED to kill things - in fact, I DO NOT WANT to kill things. But, enjoy the game while you can.

Why wait? You can leave anytime you want. Go ahead.
