Good to hear!
Gila | Ship
Gila: 992,541 ships destroyed and 254,011 ships lost.
Good to hear!
I’ll dig into it.
Yay, Bellicose ftw! Lovely ship, I like it, for me it was the most successful T1 ship in Abyss (now I take a Phantasm, but the AB could be even a bit faster). But of course it’s a question of skills and preferences.
BTW, each and every time I prepare to enter the abyss, I have this site open on another screen: https://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Abyssal_Deadspace#Weather_Effects
Then I chose missiles etc accordingly. Drones in a dark site can be pita, that’s true.
Dropping in to let you know that we are extending the event by several days! As it stands now, the Skillers in the Abyss will end on 11 May at 11:00 UTC
o7
3 nights, 3 mostly successful* runs with my 3 toons. Triglavians would be happy.
(* - barely survived a 1-2 minute power outage while in the abyss there on the first night… but that aside!)
While Salt pointed out this would require ganking atm since they didn’t ever put the yellow suspect flashy tag back on people who run t4s and t5s… if they’d just made the tasks for killing rats, as we have, and a task (or tasks) for killing a player inside the 1 on 1 PVP arena within abyssal space that might have made some sense. Then again, I hear the arena is often closed due to not enough people running the abyss at once… mostly have to do t3 and above during EUTZ to have any chance of the gate being open for business, IIRC?
There is co-op in the abyss. Just three frigates in the regular single cruiser sites…
Ever since they added the three frigate gameplay to the filaments, I’ve been wondering if they would add new battleship abyss sites (1 battleship or 3 cruisers allowed in)… more co-op potential! Instead we got E.C.s, I guess… but never too late!
*instanced content in a sandbox with all the PVP and PVE you could want within.
Probably, but if you’re going to be building any ships/modules/ammo, it is nice to have the ZPCs and isogen-10 from those extra resource cans. And more red loot for extra ISKies never hurt anyone, either!
Oh, and was gonna mention… my gila has a tech 2 tractor beam to suck in loot cans from up to 24 km away and I also carry a Packrat MTU for those rooms where I pop 3 resource cans AND the main loot bin and wanna suck it all in. Quite possible to use a tractor beam and/or MTU to help speed the loot collection. My Gila has an AB. a MWD would make manual collection a bit easier but A) cap issues and B) the scramming rats would shut that right down, ofc.
Maybe so, but I suspect that there was some discussion about how much the rewards should be before the event was released, the kill amounts from one person’s idea and the SP reward amounts from another person’s idea got released together… instead of a pair of consistent ones together. I do wish they’d gone the other way with the fix, though…
A) was it a Dark filament you activated? Darks made the frigate rats pretty damned fast.
B) You might need a web if you’re armor tanking that vexor. If you’re shield tanking it… ergh… yeah… best to avoid Darks if there’s no room if your fit for a web, probably.
My passive gila for t1s and t2s (used to do t3s a year to 2 years ago with it but after the 20% resist nerf on mods, don’t think I’ll be doing so in 2020) can hit the frigates just fine with the RLMLs but the medium drones often have problems doing so in Darks especially. And this is why I pop synth crash before doing any Darks.
Gorgeous shot! I haven’t done the abyss in high shaders since 2018, though, performance got so bad I had to switch to low shaders exclusively.
Because
who would’ve tonked!
The real winners of this event seem to be the Tornado squads!

Why is CONCORD program to act on any aggression in high security systems but when these things are invading CONCORD calls on capsuleers to deal with it. But when the invaders are killing in front of them, they carry on like its nothing and when they are been provoked by the invaders they do nothing. Is it me or is this just stupid.
Its hard enough as a new player trying to get over this learning curb, but even worse when simple things like that happens. I was literally under a CONCORD Battleship while running for my life and nothing happened.
Also, I realize that to take on these overpowered invaders, you need a battleship at the bare minimum. They have so much fire power that you get swarm and disappear in a few seconds. I DON’T OWN A FCKING BATTLESHIP. I’ve barely played this thing enough to have the experience or ISK for it. Make CONCORD do something for the first in their Godforsaken miserable life. Am stuck in a stupid war and I can’t fight or anything make stupid CONCORD at least fight back when they see aggression from these OP crap

Ah, so people are turning up the gank rates a bit on the extra # of abyss runners, eh? in the absence of suspect flags for t4 and t5 runners, that’ll have to do for the PVP component!
Additionally:
New trig event in k-space coming for 17th birthday of EVE, btw, so whoever that was who hates the abyss further upthread here can rejoice that it’ll be more of a trig invasion style event and not an abyss event upcoming!
why are people popping the filaments in easy to reach locations. I do know that the rift thing can be scanned down though, does it appear as a cosmic signature or is there some advanced scanning skill required?
Only asking cause when I was doing these I was doing them in amarr, inn a randomly located safe spot which really and trully wasnt terribly safe. I never saw another ship. I’d go in clear it pop out to real space, nothing just me wait for the trace to vanish and repeat. never saw another ship in about 4 hours combined time doing them
maller
im curious what fit was your maller? I have one but cant seem to figure out how to make it abyss ready
well i’ll first off say that im not a great fitting guru or expert, I put this fit together for t1’s as i’d never done abyss before except for the single beam fit omen i took in and lost immediately. I’m using this on a essentially 5m sp alpha clone, its definately not “brand new” pilot spec but probably not too far off. The biggest downside is the poor speed in battleship rooms. Dual web is great at holding things down. Also i normally have 3 drones (max capacity) but lost one lol and my actual fit has abyssal heat sinks

i appreciate it, hard to find the right fits for maller.
this gets only relevant if you do abyssals which are level 4 and 5. because you come then out as suspect. if anyone scans that abyssal trace down can they wait outside until you come out and can freely attack you.
tho i dont know if CCP changed that. i am not sure if it is still lv 4 and 5 or if it got changed to only lv 5 abyssals.
oh yea i forgot, abyssal traces getting scanned down via normal scanner probes. those with which you scan anomalies down =3 its not vissible what for a level it is on the scan but after warping onto it can peoples see what for a level it is aka fierce, rage and whatsoever.

People combat probe them down. Then again, there’s not much reason to since people will do them on grid with stations, including Jita 4-4. Only reason any get probed down is if someone had their shiny t4/t5 abyssal fit scanned down by a scan frig on a gate and then tracked to the system they do their sites in and then all abyssal traces in that system got scanned down for a gank squad.
Having run quite a bit of abyssals in the past 2 days, some things are still bugged:
Twice a Strikegrip Tessera in one abyssal (Tier 1) …
This thing eats drones (and capsuleers) for breakfast https://zkillboard.com/ship/48264/kills/ and contributes zero points on the reward scale.
#facepalm
Strikegrip Tessera
Their only redeeming quality is their inability to shoot beyond ~10km. If you can’t tank it for long enough, you’ll simply have to outrun it and either keep it at range while you kill it, or do bombing runs and take repping breaks from time to time.
In my stabber I usually set keep at range 15km, then web it and pulse mwd if it gets closer than 8. That works pretty well.
