Some new ideas

1. BETTER STARGATES
At the moment when you use a stargate it puts you with its peer in the system next door and then you have to warp across the system to the next stargate or whatever your destination is. But what if the stargate you just used put you near (15km away?) from your destination in the system its pointing at?

In other words the stargates become more like canons and they can put you near to your destination in the system they are pointing at. Thank you for reading.

Having to travel the final 15km manually its possible that overall travel time is not reduced in some cases. But at your MWD and Afterburners will come in handy when traveling now. Traveling will always be kinda braindead but i think being able to fit overdrive injectors, microwarpdrives and what not to speed up the default travel time.

One question is how is the stargate going to know what your destination is? Well maybe it only knows if its in your autopilot. And if nothing is set in autopilot or you only set destination to the system as a whole, then when you activate the stargate it just puts you in the location where its peer is in that system.

IIrc the main reason warp to 0 was introduced was because people made bookmarks some distance behind a stargate and then warped to the bookmark so they would land right on top of the stargate and could jump instantly. Players created so many bookmarks that servers could scarcely handle it at the time.

Its possible this phenomon will make its way back if this new way of travel is introduced but it will not get as bad as it was.

Can’t wait until they release the Stargate Cannon. But while we are at it, why not #****# or even #*# - or wait… ##? Would be a lot better!

I would say that Stargates cannot fire that long distance or be that precise because we have to think of the gankers but also would become too convenient to travel and world might also feel too small.

CCP turned off several star gates, why do you think they will implement something that reduces how much of your time they waste?

About Jita on Demand and a NPC hauling service,

  • The cost could be 25 ISK per m3 per jump. But its uninsured. This means the shipment has a chance of being lost.
  • Minimum price is for 1 jump. People will probably always choose insurance, but the option not to have it seems essential.
  • Insurance costs 8% flat fee of the cargo est. value + 1% per jump. Insurance gives the shipment 100% chance to arrive.
  • The time to arrive is 1 minute per jump.
  • Minimum time is 1 minute.
  • The service is only available in highsec, and can only reach destinations in highsec that dont require a jump through low sec.

How much would it cost to move 10k m3 worth 50M ISK 5 jumps?

If you add insurance on top its whopping 6.5M extra.

So it becomes very expensive quick. So there could be skills to reduce the costs. The new NPC corp that offers the hauling service can also be done missions for. Higher standing = lower cost to use their service.

Ideally with max reduction in cost, it would cost maybe 500k ISK to move 10k m3, 5 jumps, for low value cargo

More work is needed to think this idea through. But when finished, and if implemented, it would be a huge boost to UX and the economy. For example spreading a bit further away from Jita might make sense to more people. Last but not least, buy orders that covers entire region are going to become more common i think which is going to be great + more. Anyway there probably isnt a single person on this forum or even at CCP who undertands and/or appreciates the magic of this idea. lets say its about 55000 m³ and worth like 3,5 bil and you wanna have this thing moved about 25 jumps

252550000 = 31.250.000
8% insurance for the 3,5 bil = 280.000.000
end of this are 311.250.000 shipping cost … and thats just just about 3 times the price of pushx oO

it just would prefer your worthless stuff you dont want to haul yourself the 5 jumps
so end of the day → why should i use an NPC servic for 3 times more isk ?
why should CCP allow someone to haul his stuff 100% safe and almost instant ?
how could this help to get a healthier game ?

One of the main goals is to make it more expensive the higher value the cargo and the longer you want it transported. Its the opposite of stupid :slight_smile:

If NPC hauling service is introduced people can still haul themselves.

Hauling is an AFK passive thing

Less time spent hauling means more time for any other activity. It does not mean more AFK.
