Is there a way to make sure your storyline missions get assigned by a particular corp? I can’t seem to find the pattern. And given that they affect standings like normal missions, I’d like to know.
I think its literally the closest storyline agent.
Besides, the point of those missions is Faction standing, not corp standing.
Wait I thought they raised corp and faction standing.
They do raise corp standing, but they’re the only reliable place to get Faction standing. Most other methods are one time only or have long timers.
If losing out on 1 mission worth of corp standing every 17 missions is a big deal, I guess you could make sure there’s a SL agent of the right corp closest to you. That’s the ration, 1 SL mission every 16 regular missions of the same level. To me, however, that standing only ever mattered when grinding up to lvl 4 missions,
With the relevant Social skills at 5, you only see four storyline (SL) mission offers grinding from mission levels 1 to 4, or at least that’s what I got when I did this for all main factions not long ago. The bonus Security Connections gave my corp standing, from the faction standing increase, more then offset the gain the mission would have given to the corp standing.
When grinding standing with max Social skills, the SL mission was the boost I needed for levels 2 and 3, and the second SL mission got me into 4s.
Yes, there is a pattern to it. The first storyline you get will always be the closest storyline agent to your current location, and it will always be in the same faction, but not necessarily the same corp you were running missions for. So, what you can do in order to always get the corp you want is stack storyline missions. If you just leave that first storyline mission sitting, and run another 16 missions, it will send you to the next closest storyline agent, then the next closest, and so on. When it lands on a corp you want to get a lot of standing with, do the storyline mission, then run another 16 regular missions and it will land on that same one again. You can keep doing that for a week until the first storyline you got expires. Then rinse, repeat.
Unless you’re trying to unlock COSMO missions, this is really unnecessary.
If you’re trying to unlock COSMO missions, this is really necessary.
Depends on what you’re doing, OP.
I do it to get 10.0 standing with various corps and factions. But, I’m a crackhead, so…
Side Note: This is done the quickest by far with distro missions. Just be aware the level of the storyline mission will correspond to the level of normal missions you were running. If you run 16 L4 distro missions, the storyline mission will also be an L4 and it may very well be a combat mission even though you were running distros.
And the higher you climb in standing, the higher the diminishing returns. For example, it took me 100 L4 distro missions to go from 9.99 to 10.0
Damn. Too bad usia isnt hiring lol
QG is on point though
I just wanted to add that if you always run missions for the same agent, the storyline missions will also always be for the same (storyline) agent - unless you already have an outstanding storyline mission with that agent to finish.
This allows you to stockpile various ore (kernite, etc.) in specific stations for the “Material” missions.
I mean that was covered. If thats the closest agent then yea theyll always get it unless they stack them to get a certain one
A lot of answers in this thread… And they’re all good…
However, this is what you do if you want to have the Storyline Agent be with the same NPC Corp as your regular Agents…
For example let’s say that NPC Corp is Brutor Tribe and your regular Agents are Level 2 Security Agents…
First, find the location of the nearest Brutor Tribe Corp Storyline Agent and make a note of that location in your in-game Notepad.
Second, find the nearest regular Level 2 Brutor Tribe Agent nearest to that Brutor Tribe Storyline Agent. Doesn’t matter if that regular Level 2 Brutor Tribe Agent is in a different Division like Distribution, Mining, etc. Let’s say the Division for that regular Level 2 Brutor Tribe Agent is Mining. Now make a note of that Agent’s location in the in-game Notepad.
Now go back to your regular Level 2 Brutor Tribe Security Agents and run 15 missions. Make sure to note the amount of missions completed in the in-game Notepad so you don’t go past 15 missions. Now after completing the 15th mission, travel to the regular Level 2 Brutor Tribe Mining Agent and complete the 16th mission.
The Storyline Agent mission offer will then come from the nearest Storyline Agent that’s in the Brutor Tribe Corp.
After completing that Storyline mission, travel back to your regular Level 2 Brutor Tribe Security Agents and start the same process over again, run 15 missions, travel to the Level 2 Brutor Tribe Mining Agent, complete that 16th mission to receive another Storyline mission offer from the Brutor Tribe Storyline Agent, rinse and repeat…
I’ve done that a few times and yeah, it’s a bit more work taking notes and traveling to various Agents but doing that will ensure your Storyline mission offer comes from the same Corp as your regular Agents. Also if that 16th Agent is in Distribution Division, you might wanna consider just running all 16 regular missions for that Agent to cut out all the jumping around.
Lastly if you just wanna quickly gain Faction Standing without having to grind for Storyline missions, check out ‘The Plan’…
Other than that, be mindful of accepting Security missions against the Empire Factions, those will quickly generate negative standings which will greatly impede traveling through other sectors of High Security space. If you don’t want that to happen, just decline those missions and only accept missions against Pirate Factions.
Anyway that’s it, good luck to you and may you have much success…
those tends to lead to ls, after about 30 I died to gatecamp, the failure cost me so much I never ran L4 again
don’t remember exactly how much, but it was brutal
Oh man the social booster during capsuleer month + storyline agent = unlocking lv 4 missions in like 1-2 days
Thats our busiest for faction sales
Social to level 5 for 25% boost to Faction Standing reward from SL agent.
Connections to level 5 for 20% boost to effective corp standing.
Train these two skills, and you can get to level 4 missions in 2 days of moderate grinding, while not taking missions that would impact standings with other factions. You can do it in less if you’re not that picky about missions.
But the booster is ALOT faster
Thanks, that almost solves what I want. Is there a way to find storyline agents through the agency when they aren’t avalible (so I can move myself for the 16th mission) or do I just dock with every one of the desired corp to see if one exists there?
I think they show up if you add unavailable agents to the agency list.
I don’t feel like logging back in right now to check.
