Test for Destiny on Singularity - 20 August through to 25 August

Hey!

Singularity will be online and accessible for the next few days, to test changes to Destiny, our physics engine.

After the last mass test we implemented several fixes to our changes for Destiny, which we want to test a bit more on Singularity (in addition to internal testing).

From the mass test thread:

Destiny (our physics engine) has been refactored to make it easier to improve it in the future.

Destiny related updates have been separated out from regular gameplay updates, so they are now sent out to each client as a separate batch. This enables us to optimize the Destiny updates in the future, as they are now isolated and well defined.

How to test:

We don’t have any specific test steps - as those have already been tested internally, but following areas are interesting:

  • Combat, especially missiles and drones
  • Jumping (be aware that on Singularity it can take quite long to load systems).
  • Docking, undocking
  • Cloaking, uncloaking

If you encounter any bugs, then please be sure to write a bug report (F12 - Report Bug) and you can also leave a message here.

Singularity is planned to stay open until Monday, 25th August, in the morning.

Thanks in advance!

Will there finally be patch notes for these extra patches?

Inb4 We've updated the game with files related to upcoming features and/or minor tweaks. – CCP

Not sure, which patches you are talking about exactly, but today there was for example a change from my team going out, which was just to fix an incorrectly logged error on the server.

Almost every day has a patch of around 170-180 MB, for which there are no patch notes ever. This has been an ongoing thing ever since early 2024.

I’D be totally fine with that because then I know that this means something. But every day the launcher downloads ghost 180MB onto my PC and I do not know what CCP is doing.
