Well, I don’t see “evidence” here … just some mimimi of gankers complaining that there are juicy targets they cannot crack open. Again … I wouldn’t complain about a 10% cut in mining yield. everything else is just mimimi of so called alpha gankers too lasy to actually work.
Month and a half for 5 industrial command ships, another month and a half for boosting, not including cybernetics, less than 2 weeks for mining drone spec 4, so not perfect skill but doable.
So you would (as a new player) risk a 2b ship with just minimum skills and suck in everything ?! Just be able to mine but not be able to defend? Well … you are a piniata for sure and all the alpha-novalue-gankers will cheer you
I injected my first toon into an orca my first week playing. Of course, at the time orcas were only 850m, but still.
The further from jita you are, the safer you are from ganks.
I really don’t get how you confuse new character with new player. But I guess that without argument, you must try to grab any opportunity to pointlessly bite back
I mined for 3.5 years solo in an Orca in High Sec and about 1.5 in with an alt that I boosted. Not once AFK. 3.5 hours to fill an Orca solo mining before scarcity and with the alt 55 minutes to fill it. An Orca does not need nerfs, it needs buffs! The Orca and freighters are the only capital class ships that can not use capital class modules! Since the indy NERFS Orcas and freighters are not worth flying or building or even undocking.
An Orca is a garbage solo mining ship. If it was not for my corp/alliance/coalition needing a Orca pilot I would never would have trained into it. The flight time is what all of you are forgetting. Ya some stupid players seat at 0 on a rock. Have you ever seen what happens when they get bumped?
It is time to make Ore ships reflect the New Eden! That would mean more tank and DPS! There is no way in H@LL that Ore ships evolved in New Eden. Since Ore ships are ganked daily and killed daily, Ore would have increased the resistances, the low slots for hull or armor tanking, maybe some weapon slots or more drone dps.
2 years of nerfing miners and indy players has only driving paying customers from the game. It is time to make mining and indy enjoy/rewarding again. If CCP does this wrong they will drive more players from the game again!
For a solo player, an orca isn’t a garbage ship.
Solo doesn’t need boosts, can mine more than a procurer with 4x the defense, and fit properly can get into alignment and warp faster than a barge. It can hold a lot more, which reduces down time from having to warp to unload, and can easily survive any npc short of a dread or titan in null.
Not to mention has 70k m3 for hauling non-ore, and can haul multiple ships.
For solo mining an Orca is garbage. Yes an Orca has more tank, yes an Orca has more EHP, but it costs 100x the cost of a procurer and the skill training time is through the roof. All the rocks are too small and build an Orca is more head ache then it is worth. An Orca has 250K-280K m3 in location to store ore. If your orca is aligning that quick then fit is garbage, my orca kills diamond rats in high sec.
Barges are the only way to mine since the nerfing and the only cost effective way to mine now. If you are mining in low sec or null sec a porpoise to boost a mining fleet is the way to go.
I can not wait to see what CCP does and if CCP nerfs miners again, I can not wait to see the paying customers leave again!
Ah yes. The last defence of the troll after vague arguments, complaining how words don’t occur in nature and appeals about how nerfs are a crime against humanity.
You can tell who flys an orca and who doesn’t. I name my orca Paul Walker, because it’s a 10s warp.
Get it? Fast and furious reference. Haha.
Anyway, you just need a mwd to get a 10s warp. A solo miner doesn’t need the shield reps in high slot, or the boosts, so you’ve got a lot of wiggle room.
It’s not garbage, because you can set 1 drone per rock, and if you have a nav module and are close to the rocks it’s nearly instant deposit into your hold.
It’s time and effort efficient. The cost can be a hurdle for some, but once you’re fully skilled into it, there is no comparison.
You could go cheap, get a cov and get popped by any gankers that dscans you.
Or you could invest in an orca and feel comfortable that solo gankers stand no chance, and most small gangs aren’t a huge issue. Just gotta be smart, which hopefully come from playing for some time before you can afford the orca.
I never said it was a crime against humanity however you’re the one calling people’s posts dribble simply because you don’t have a retort because I am right. Powercreep is a made up term that points to nothing. It just holds back CCP because it’s human nature to better. Like playing this game, if you even play (evidently a lot of nerf shouters admit that they don’t), you get better without even intending to. Just from playing game. Everything humans do in life, we are like that. So for a game to forgo any sense of progression because of “powercreep” is for it to take an arrow to the knee since a sense of progression creates attachment to a game. The only thing eve has right now that creates attachment is the time spent in it and when you nerf stuff you desecrate the time players spent in this game. It’s the fault of people who push powercreep and other related non-sense (make no mistake it’s the same group of people) that’s killing eve.
