That’s a lot of words that say absolutely nothing.
The ‘desecration’ already happened when the Orca became the defacto mining ship in hi-sec. What’s coming is a correction.
Has nothing to do with game balance.

I think the real question you wanted to ask, is why a disengaging activity is in the game? Not everyone is using them. If they are on grid solo then they are not using it right or are missing out on serious mining with an alt there too.
There are swarms of them on grid with no barges to support, because they are more popular for mining than barges themselves.
Even if you think people are doing it wrong, the reality is that Orcas today are more popular as a mining ship than actual mining ships.
Players are selling their fits on their afk-ability. Players are saying to eachother: I want an orca because it’s low activity mining.
Evidence: in this thread ^^
But, clearly, there is a point where an Orcas yield is not good enough for afk mining and not good enough to be preferable over a barge. So all we have to do is reduce the yield bit by bit until the behaviour is corrected.
Not sure what you are looking at…
But my maxed skill orca pilots get 1,178 every 60 sceconds…
That is 2,356 m3 in 120 seconds…
I could still beat that proc of yours doing 2714 every 162 seconds…
comparable number of that proc to the orca in the same 120 seconds… approx 2,008 m3…
and i can assure you…I fly Orca too occassionally…only I fly up to 9 of them all at once, not AFK…and I know for a fact an Orca can beat any unboosted skiff or proc.
Or the guy that got mad the other day and tried to bump said orca cause the fleet sucked his ICE down from under his 1 orca and 1 boosted proc. (fun fact an Orca can do about 72 seconds on ice, if its yield fitted(rigs) it can do 42 seconds… 9 orca like that is almost equivalent to 10 boosted skiffs ice mining)
I don’t believe that. If there are multiple Orcas on grid in high sec then they are at a moon mining and not in belts. War dec the station and get the core as a reward. No yield or dps will ever be low enough to stop afk mining or ratting.
Once again we need to ask why CCP has such a bad mechanic in the game? Why is mining not an active play still? Why has CCP not fixed it in 20 years?
AFK mining is wrong but the orca is not the problem it is CCP.
I got/trained an Orca to help out my friends and boost alts. Orcas only really shined in fleets but if CCP nerfs then after 2 years of nerfing mining, then more players will leave the game.
Both ice and moons.
And they are still afk mining in normal belts.
It doesn’t matter where it happening. Just that it’s happening.
But it will reduce it’s popularity.
Players that quit because bad behaviour got nerfed should leave the game.
I’d say the same to players that quit because their afk VNI got nerfed. Or alphas that botted level4’s.
Games should not be held to ransome by players that indulge in unhealthy gameplay. Get rid of them and rebuild.
People certainly didn’t complain when the wardeccers left.
Just read the forums a bit and you will quickly see the prevailing sentiment that any miner or PvE player is just “farmer trash” and “bot aspirants” or whatever other slurs they can come up with.
Given the development path and consistent nerfs by CCP it’s hard to come to any other conclusion but they feel the exact same way. CCP just doesn’t have the balls to come right out and say it yet.
If you are a miner or PvE player the only role you have in this game is to provide the “real players” with someone to kill so they have “content”
No it won’t. Look at what they did the VNI and Gila. AFK ratters still use them.
Games can lose some players but Eve lost 1/3 of their players in a month or two. CCP can not afford to keep losing players. If you like this game you must understand that CCP needs $$$$. If the players leave quicker then CCP can get them to stay, then the game will die. CCP/Eve is garbage at keeping players. So customers are voting with their wallet and time, it is not ransom.

So you want to ruin the profession for all legit players? Seems smart. Why worry about the activity of a few bad players, focus on new content and move on.
Then why is everyone using it for that?
Please consider as a new player skilling into a Mining Foreman profession, that the porp/orca is the ship they have to mine with. This is exactly what I did back in 2008, before I had additional skills and ships to make isk in another way. I also did hauling using my orca ship to make isk.
Yes, they do want to ruin the profession, because these people believe that miners and mission runners and other PvE type players don’t belong in this game.

Yes, I know. they are just Trolls It’s all good, I just wish they would realize if they ruin the game for PVE players they have less content for PVP. There are actually a lot less miners today then there were 2 years ago after the resource reduction.
There’s evidence of afk orcas in this thread which you deny. But there’s no evidence of afk VNI yet here you are saying it exists.
Hmmm hypocrite much?
You think the other 2/3rd will leave if they change the Orca?
‘legit’
I’m a miner btw.
I use an Orca everyday.
So you know that the Orca only mines roughly 1000m3 right (no rigs)? I’ve already proven this is roughly the same as a T1 bare bones proc (no rigs, no mining upgrades, no crystals). How much do you really think they are making in HS at 1000m3 per 60 seconds?
I guarantee you there will be another big drop in player count once people stop logging in with their Orca and Rorqual pilots.
At this point CCP deserves to lose another 1/3 of their playerbase though.
I agree.
i never disputed that. But regardless of that yield, it is STILL chosen as a mining ship above actual mining ships.
So nerf the yield until it isnt.
There was a drop after the wardec nerf. Should we change that back?
It’s not. They are completely separate career paths. Please check the skill tree. It’s more likely legit players are using their orca to make isk, given that was the profession they choose. Are you really a miner? I can’t find you in eve. LOL
No skilled miner would choose a orca, over a T2 barge like a Mac or Hulk. They are no where close in yield.
It is a separate career path, but that doesn’t stop people using Orcas as mining ships and nothing else. And thats bad.
Evidence: In this thread ^^
I’d say the same if battleships were frequently chosen for tackling over interceptors.
And yet they ARE.
Here’s another. They can be found in literal seconds.
Move on dude, focus on something positive for eve instead of nerfs. Nerfs cause players to leave. If you want to nerf your own ship, just pick a different one
