The Orca

Looking at the long game, nerfing mining as much as they have, and plan to keep doing only hurts the market.
That in turn hurts player retention. Ccp ratface is trying his best to shut down eve, and the rest of the development team seems oblivious to it.
In just the last 4 months I’ve noticed the launcher is showing fewer and fewer people log in.
When I first started playing, the launcher showed 40k or more logged in at peak hours. Over the last couple weeks I’ve noticed it’s down to around 20k. That’s significant, and if ccp wants to keep this game going they have to make some internal changes. Ratface is bad for eve.

If the orca has no ability to mine, and everyone has to go back to barges, you simply won’t have boosts in most areas.
That means less ore being mined, which means higher prices, which means newer players have a larger hurdle to overcome if they want to stay in eve.
Charging for boosts doesn’t really work if you’re not working with a group of friends or corp mates. Random people aren’t going to pay much, if anything to an orca pilot.
The upside to that is a lot of orcas will hit the market and people like me will end up with a stockpile of them for when ccp ratface is fired and ccp corrects the course.

I agree. I’m really worried more people will leave, I truly am. Mining is the backbone of the game, more nerfs to miners is only going to cause more people to quit. I’m also worried, we are going toward a model, where if you want a ship you have to buy plex.

Yeah, that seems to be the course ccp is taking. It’s a bad model for a game like this. We Want new players, because bittervets quit and retire to become forum trolls. I’ve noticed a lot of them crying about mining etc don’t play, and seem to want to see eve die.

You get paid as much as you can negotiate. Like any other product/service players put in EVE market.
It is not up to CCP to hold your hand because you can’t figure out how to charge your service for as much you think it values.

BTW you need to decide if you want to play solo or to be a foreman, because a “solo foreman” is a oxymoron.

You can mine more with a Hulk.

If that worked, they wouldn’t have made the change in 2016 in the first place.

I personally do not think you think removing mining capabilities from the profession is gong to help the profession, or the game, but whatever. Ask an orca pilot

You can also die really easily in a hulk.

Fear of pixel death is not a design criteria.

You’re an idiot. People started jumping into the orca strictly because of the ganking that goes on to anything smaller. Buffing a ship isn’t desecration but appreciation of clients. And what I said has everything to do with game balance you dope. It’s why World of Warcraft will be around longer than eve. You’re just trying to be combative because you can. You do realize that a lot of the common talking points about this game are just plain ■■■■■■■■ right? Marketing that emotionally moved people who keep parroting the same lines from their little trailers despite CCP always going in any direction they want while throwing a bone to the worst among their community. Orca is fine and is good. That’s why people gravitate to it. What’s trash is this loser mentality that people tend to have in the game. Like having something good genuinely upsets people around here. People who would disadvantage themselves are especially bad. There is nothing noble in it.

Fear of pixel death is the reason why people have a problem with ships that are too good for them. In fact, fear of pixel death is the main reason why gankers think non-combat ships shouldn’t be combat capable in addition to being good at what they do. You say it’s not a design criteria but it most certainly is when people whine about things being OP when they ain’t. In fact, fear of pixel death exists more in gankers than it does in pvers. That’s why they tend to be the loudest of the bunch going “ccp please” while hypocritically telling others to adapt.

I agree, the Orca is good, it’s a great experience. Players enjoy it. Why ruin that.

It works very well for people getting free mining bonus. Scamming wannabe foremen is a valid game activity that requires no fix.

Yes, I love to talk to myself.

Maybe a bit too easy IMHO. But if that is the case, it only calls for adjustment to the Hulk. (something that is also in CCP’s plans).

But then again, each time a mining ship is destroyed in high HS my surviving mining ship in NS get its value increased even so slightly. So…profit?! :skull_and_crossbones:

Lol true enough.
Some loss is good for the ecosystem, but like rl we can evolve to reduce that loss.
Losing 300m to 2-3 gankers can be a hard pill to swallow.

Looks to me like you like rating  Or maybe you were mining in your Golem . LOL Certainly not making isk from mining fleets. LOL

You actually think they would ever make mining ships harder to kill?

The only reason CCP wants miners to exist in this game is so gankers have “content”

Look like you ran out of arguments, nothing else.

They could, but lazy and careless people will keep losing those ship and even brag about it.

Can I have your stuff? No?
Ok, I’m satisfied with your tears.

Someone has to be the prey.

I never said I was against it, but that’s just how it is.

So you’re saying nerf the tank too?

Nah, if you look at people talking about fits, the bit they talk about is how long it can mine afk for.

You should get your eyes tested then. I’m a miner not a ganker.

It really doesn’t.

All you can do is ad hominem and complain about made up words.
