For the hard-of-reading types, a few bits of information that apparently escapes them:
A ‘PvP zone’ is a zone where PvP is unrestricted. It means that virtually all activity in this area can result in PvP interaction. It does not mean that no PvE occurs. It means that anyone taking part in PvE activities needs to be prepared to handle potential PvP anywhere, anytime.
A ‘PvE zone’ in other MMOs would generally mean one in which PvP could not occur, except by mutual consent (eg. duels, arenas, etc). In EVE terms, a PvE zone is one in which the majority of players are engaged primarily in PvE tasks and are neither skilled, built, prepared for nor inclined to engage in PvP combat. While PvP can occur it does so under various limitations.
As usual, the PvP crowd has completely missed the point of “EVE should cater to as wide an audience as it can without losing it’s core audience”, and instead focussed on “CCPLEEZ DON’T TAKE MAH EZ-MODE PVP AWAY!”. It’s like they can’t handle actual PvP zones or something.
EVE is a rough-and-ready game, the space version of the wild wild west. EVE is also and has always been a fringe game that does not appeal to the majority of gamers/MMOers. EVE has had a steadily declining population for some time now, although not quite to the “doom is near” stage.
Lame-ass PVPers who need weak, unprepared targets to get their jollies against aren’t the core audience. They’re just the mouthiest.
Guys, I promised I’d keep out of this thread, but we really just want as many people playing as possible so that the game remains alive.
I’m sorry if that’s upsetting, but world of warcraft is doing very well for a game that’s as old as eve and they allow new players to get started without being bamboozled. (Yes, one is aware that it’s an entirely different game, but eve online has been around so long I’m not sure what else to compare it to.)
um…10 kills isn’t 10% of 4081 (current number of kills on zkillboard for Ima). It’s just over 0.2% and no news outlet would call an outcome on 0.2% of the vote counted.
However, since you doubled down on stupidity and claimed the last 10 kills would be representative of her whole killboard, when all the data was there to validate what you were about to write, definitely go ahead ond give me a citation that you think will assist.
In the interim though, I did go an pull the last 3000 kills of Ima’s.
Removing capsules so as to not double count ages and skew the results, that comes to 1608 ship kills (Ima has a pretty high percentage of killing AFK miners or people that don’t know how to press warp).
Some stats:
Total targets: 1608
Mean age: 1065.55 days
Mean age: 2.92 years
Youngest target at time of kill: 3 days
Oldest target at time of kill: 14.89 years
Seems over her whole killboard, Ima wasn’t that far out and just under 3 years isn’t the same as 1 year at all.
I wouldn’t recommend you go become a polling pundit and maybe one of those online courses you referred to would be a good idea.
I don’t go after new player. If I would that would mean I single then out. Are you playing dense on purpose? Because it seems almost impossible to me to misunderstand what was said in that way.

Less than a month old is new.
Or do you mean a different kind of new player?
Everyone with more than just a hand full of working braincells will easily figure out what I actually said just like you did.
I mean look at the guys who didn’t. Perfect match
Oh yes, and something else I forgot to mention: If it’s a Venture then I only kill it if I suspect it to be a bot or maybe it happened a few times for other reasons as well, but they are super rare on my killboard.
