Hi! We have a long dead & locked thread for cars, so I took the liberty to start a new one where we all car lovers talk about and share videos/images/articles etc. of cars.
I’ll start this thread off with the Mercedes-Benz 1991 year S-Class W140.

When you invest in it enough, even a car from 35 years ago can be modernized:
I have a modern Mercedes, and I often find myself wishing they’d just have buttons instead. Mercedes aren’t as bad about this as some brands, but still.
The most practical car I have ever owned, I can testify to the fuel saving as it really has saved me so much in fuel costs thanks to the big regenerative hybrid battery and electric engine that works in tandem with the petrol engine.
I’m not sure how they are going to charge all of these full electric cars they want everyone to drive.
I, too, am baffled by this trend. My most satisfying experiences as a car owner/driver have been with hybrids. I’m not going to buy an EV and with the amount of control/ownership these companies are removing, it’s unlikely I’ll ever purchase a car manufactured after 2008.
Indeed, nice to speak with a fellow Hybrid owner about this. I like that the petrol engine in the Hybrid can easily do 300k miles or more with no real problem, the electrical engine seems to take a lot of stress off the petrol engine.
I’m hoping governments will start to see the problems with everyone charging their EV, not only will there be massive wait times but I’m not sure the infrastructure could cope with the demand for charging on top of the normal demand.
For sure, I’m reading a lot of these new electric cars are difficult to fix so they end up being written off and the cost of a new battery can run into 10s of thousands.
