Top reasons why a new player should consider not playing EVE Online

Unless I missed the first report of an NPC takedown of a citadel, isnt this to make people more willing to engage in PvP rather than less due to the reduced risk?

I fix OPs thread for him.

Unsub if its so ā– ā– ā– ā–

EVE is grindy, huh?

Have you tried not playing it like a carebear?

It’s free to play now so there is no reason to pay to play. Try. If you hate it quit. If you don’t try more. If you find a reason to sub that’s your fault not mine.

Don’t listen to me or anyone else.

Don’t tell me what to do! I like listening to you.

Would definitely try to play it as something else than carebear, if it would be more interesting and wouldn’t require more time investments that I’m ready to attribute to a game of such kind. Unfortunately, I’m still failing to find such activity in Eve. Usually the likes of you propose something like ā€œmake the carebears cry and bath in their tearsā€, but I believe I’m too old for this sh*t as this alone gives me zero incentive to spend hours of my life time.

And the PvP itself in Eve is not interesting for me at all. Most of the time it’s a brainless gank, sometimes it’s just a rapid shootout (after you’ve spent all your evening to find somebody willing to stand up and fight with you) in which you’ll usually will lose, unless you, again, want to spend countless hours of your life time invested in the game, to be part of l33t PvP corp, constantly training your skills, getting money to have better equipment etc etc etc Very rarely it’s something interesting and challenging, for both sides of the conflict, with a lot of tactical kicks - yet again, requires to spend hours of time finding such fight, without any guarantees of succeeding. Totally wasted time, imo, something I would readily participate when I was 18, but see as utter waste of precious time now. After all, if I need just PvP, there are tons of session-based MMO games where you can just login and have it right away, and log out whenever you want, without any consequences.

I won’t even touch other possible ā€œactivitiesā€ usually suggested in such cases, as they are either even more dull, or clearly show how much its inventor craves for human interactions he should honestly be searching in real world instead of some MMORPG with probably the worst social interaction toolset at the current market (just a chat? what is it, 1991?), for their sake of their own mental health.

Have you tried BINGO? I hear BINGO is an enthralling game, and it helps keep the mind sharp!

Too much risk.

christ you lazy feck

get your forum shite together mate.

OP forgot a few reasons :

a) The community is encouraged to troll and flame only to for a mass permabanning to ensure when things blow out of control. Then the current devs will post a blog saying how stunned they are that a den of mischief and frustration can project the worst mankind has to offer on the internetz. Bonus point for : ā€œIt’s just a game guiseā€.

b) The game is now in the hands of it’s 3rd or 4th owners and they simply don’t give a dam. As long as the game makes a profit for them , even as an asset for lending it will be kept alive otherwise the servers would end up on eBay the next day. When the decision make is a committee of apathetic greedy sloths don’t expect anything to change for the better in due time.
Imagine Apple , SpaceX , Amazon or Bethesda being ran in this manner.

c) The game technology is over 20 years old. While multiple generations of coders gave their best to improve this game the overall software architecture is still obsolete junk. I mean TQ still needs daily restarts and it still crashes on a regular basis. It does this in the era of 64 core 512gb RAM servers. It takes a special kind of mismanagement to preserve problems like these for 14 years in a row.

d) The community managements staff / volunteers? still have the ye old ā€œcan I has your stuffā€ thin skin attitude that would look cringy even on toxic communities like 4chins. The poor fellas need training and resources but since upper management dosen’t care they have never received it.

Eve is way better than BSGO, but if you really like PVP, in particular 1 vs 1 PVP, give it a try: piloting skills are a very important factor in the ā€˜strike class’, a lot more than the cost of the ship. To be a good ā€˜PVP pilot’, one must do well in both games (a mix of strategy and action).

TL;DR

If you want to play EvE as completely new player, pay up.

Don’t lump completely new players with ā€œheavily guided, and helpedā€ new players. It suck.

Perspective…I know lots of groups in Stain who would be happy to fight 23/7.

Big issue I’ve seen, for both new and old return players, is the high sec gate gankers!

I’ve seen player sit a high sec (0.8 to 1.0) gates and gank players, and get away with it without Concord or local NPC forces doing a thing about it, due to they players having an 5.0 SS.

I’ve seen friends start up old account only to cancel thier accounts as they can’t even get between stations without being attack, and all because they have an 6year or older account and in an T1 Battleship or Cruiser, some haven’t player for 5 or more years and in some case pre-T2 accounts. And most techincally don’t have the full skills to operate these ships due to new skill requiremenst that have been added in the last 6+ years.

Pre-T2 players with Battleship tend to have no BattleCruiser skill level as these weren’t around back then, and old ship configurations don’t work due to slot changes in ships, so where they once could mount heavy or torpedo launchers, no-longer can due to ship high-slot changes or new skills now required just to mount them.

There’s a massive learning curve to EVE, even more so for old account returnies, as what they know back in the early to mid 2000’s doesn’t applied most of the time in the current EVE.

Then add into the mix the CODE corp, that more or less black-mail players into paying for mining rights or get killed.

There are heaps of reason beyond what the OP stated.

Theodarum aprueba tu post papu +10 suscrito y a favoritos.

If CONCORD didn’t respond, then it wasn’t a gank as such - if the character didn’t die to sentry guns (but then I still think CONCORD spawns regardless).

Most likely a legal target like a war target, because not dying to CONCORD/sentry guns if you are criminal is impossible without using an exploit, which is bannable.

So you probably saw something you interpreted different to what it actuslly was.

You can (almost) always move between station in your pod without being attacked. Pods warp instantly, and with no bubbles in highsec, no one can even lock your pod if you keep moving, let alone attack you.

Further, there are not even accounts to cancel anymore. Returning players can log in for free and check out the game without paying. I would suggest however that you tell these returning players you know to re-do the tutorial as indeed a lot has changed and regardless they could use a refresher of the basics of the game mechanics. Plus there is a whole new opening story line that will help them reintegrate into New Eden.

All of this is true, and it for these reasons that every gamer should try this game.
