Yeah, I’ll second that one, I’m in northern Indiana and have been trying to log on to at least recover drones and park the ship and no luck. I know it’s an external attack but not being able to use something you’re paying for is incredibly frustrating. Keep at it guys!!

If a highway into a city is blocked with traffic, it doesn’t mean that all highways into that city are blocked with traffic.

People will connect to the cluster via different routes.

Gross oversimplification:

  • UK players connect via route 1
  • EU players connect via route 2
  • USA players connect via route 3
  • etc

It’s entirely possible that the hardware being overloaded isn’t the actual server, but one of the networking elements along one of the routes.

So if a US player that would normally connect via route 3 uses a VPN (UK location), the connection from the VPN to CCP would use route 1.

Hey Just coming in to report my issues from today:

  • Logging in failed the first time, claimed the server took too long to make a successful handshake.
  • Undocking took about 40 seconds and for about 15 seconds the station menus disappeared.
  • Chat was broken, as others have said. Kept disconnecting and reconnecting.
  • Scanning was delayed, starting scans would have the scanning sound play either early or late, sometimes the scan would take a long time to complete.
  • Couldn’t jump through a wormhole, got put into traffic control.
  • Complete disconnect.

This is a connection from the US btw.
Hope it gets fixed soon.

Day 8 of not being able to log in. East coast USA. Wonder if CCP will refund us (who are unable to log in) our game time.

I can claim to be elite as solo PvP is the hardest form of PvP in the game. It’s why you won’t see anyone post a solo KB close to that. Even killing an explorer is risky as a solo player as you never know if you’re being baited (as what happened to me with that Proteus who I am now friends with). Your limited to your targets too. If someone can show me a solo KB anywhere near that then I will take my claim back but I won;t be holding my breath there.

No insecurity here. That guy claimed I had no kills…I proved him wrong. You then claimed I only killed scanners…I proved you wrong.

Wow, CCP has implemented a “retry to connect to chat” function. Pity it took a sustained DDOS to get that higher on the priority list than “another exciting new SKIN”.

Ok so today makes day 9 of this issue. This is by far taking way to long. People are supposed to just sit back and give you their hard earned money to just sit at a connection failed screen. VPN only tends to work but has its own set of issues with latency and random disconnects still which makes the game unplayable. No they are not Blizzard or another big multi game giant, but after 8-9 days something should have been able to be resolved. I am starting to lose faith in a game I have played for over 13 years.

yesterday, I got the same issue. Tried today a little bit. Seems working fine, need to test a little more. Ran a little site at HS to avoid unnecessary loses, and worked. I’ll try later in more complexity situations.

Unfortunately, that isn’t a consistent solution either. From the eastern US, I am completely unable to connect without a VPN. With a VPN, I can usually connect within 2 or 3 attempts, but still get random periods of lag and occasional disconnects, including levels of lag that require a restart of the client. I have tried a number of server locations, and have the most success with their Norway server. I can’t speak for anyone but me, however long term, regardless of the reason, it will prevent a renewal… I’m really not interested in jumping through this many hoops to play a game. Unfortunately I chose to buy a 3 month renewal deal about 2 weeks before this issue started, so I’m stuck for now. I really hope they get it worked out.
