ok putting in a challenge for new and old players is fine but putting in a challenge that is way stronger than a new player and without teaching the new player what the challenge is that creates a problem here I want you to go and make a new account new toon and start off as Amarr and play the game as a new play do not use your past info about the game in any way and try to get to Jita 4-4 the main trade hub and tell me what happens to you as you travel the system
You are proposing that I do stupid naive stuff? Never in the history of this game has it been easy on new players. Getting your ship destroyed is a fundamental part of the game.
they all but state this in one of the career agent tutorials. I think itâs advanced combat.
you are missing the point im making the game is hard which is fine, but the current state of the game is too hard and in no way balanced for a friendly new player introduction not once in the tutorial (fighting the seekers and the 45 career agent missions from the 5 agents) does the game inform me or teach me what the triglavians are and how there ships work so as a new player trying to make it by taking an early loss of a ship by an NPC that I cant damage can hurt financially and also interest wise in the game
Okay, I just did this because I made a fresh character two days ago. There is an issue here. Setting my destination to Amarr, autopilot takes me directly through Niarja by default. This is with âprefer saferâ selected in the autopilot settings. I agree that it shouldnât be this way.
Still, this is a matter of an implementation competence issue, and not a game design intent issue. CCP needs to correct this ASAP, and apologize for screwing up. Also, I wouldnât mind systems with Trig presence having some kind of alert popping up in local saying that hostile forces are detected, and the threat level is very severe. Maybe even a pop-up at jump/log-in.
there is a pop up that tells you that the next area is controlled by them but again when you jump you are not use to how their ships work and fight cause they are not comparable to the other NPCs (seekers pirates) you have fought in the tutorial to this point so even if you set up a rout from one of the 3 Amarr starting school to Jita4-4 and told the next area is extremely hostile you have no real idea of how aggressive they will be
Itâs scientifically proven that people click through warnings without reading them, so that doesnât fully work. Throwing a colorful message into the local chat channel, mission text-style, might be a good thing to add because its a permanent element.
Maybe EVE needs warning lights in the UI to grab peopleâs attention, too. I donât know. By no means do I want to make the game soft or dumb it down, but EVE does have an issue with drawing attention to important elements.
Niarja fell mid August, so weâve had a month of feeding new pilots into the meatgrinderâŚwonder how that worked out for new player retention? As Destiny mentioned, warning messages tend to be clicked through without reading like a TOS.
Perhaps we could recycle the old âgongâ sound to have an audible notification combined with both flashing red lights on the gate or a different color of the warp tunnel as viewed through the gate?
âŚand perhaps donât drop new content without having the ability/planning to correct any issues before you clear the office for the summer.
well I read the message but I assumed the triglavians were going to be the same as the seekers and the pirates I had fought before the problem happens cause they are nothing like the seekers or pirates
Many players (more often older ones, but some newer players too Iâm sure) play without sound. Especially with multiple accounts, sound coming from multiple sources tends to not sound nice, and is also destabilizing (I get blue screens if I have sound turned on in two clients at the same time).
So I think that important alerts need to be mainly visual. Flashing the screen red, maybe having a black/yellow warning ribbon slide across the screen, something like that.
What MMO does not have Npcs that can one shot a newbie.
LoTR was famous for having an elite warg roaming the newbie forest, you died, you learnt to avoid it, or group up and murder it for revenge.
Those seekers in the NPE are nothing like the seekers or drifters you find elsewhere in the game. In that regard the NPE does a disservice.
I have two hilarious losses to seekers and a drifter.
Just as a side topic, when you say â08/15â are you referring to the machine gun and itâs âCatch 22â significance?
Iâm not making fun of you or what you said. This just made me laugh out loud in real life. CCP =/= ASAP. Pray CCP doesnât try to do stuff quickly. They make things even worse than the original problem when they try this.
Something is very wrong if ccp do it asap
I know thatâŚ
But as always you see what i write and just understand what fits your own opinionâŚ
I 'm not talking about bringing 2005 back,itâs about all those people that say that this crap today is just a re-creation of what 2005 wasâŚ
NoâŚitâs notâŚitâs worseâŚmuch worse and this is why so many are leaving annoyedâŚit does not fit into 2020 's gameplayâŚ
So⌠where is the objective definition of â2020âs gameplayâ?
Because Iâm pretty sure it doesnât exist given the wide range of games that have come out in 2020 and surroundings.
What does matter is what market CCP decides they want to appeal to. And itâs clear that they are marketing it more in line with the audience goal from 2005.
EasyâŚcasual onlyâŚevery hard core stuff belongs behind instanced walls or alternative every pve so both sides cannot bother each otherâŚ
And donât come with âthis is a snadboxâ because the sandbox ended the moment CCP decided to steer the course of the game massively like f.e. in the last patches and furthermore decided that ONLY ONE playstyle is valid and every other has to vanish from the server âŚ
And yesâŚi can already hear your âbut you have have to adapt and pve still can happenââŚ
1.That is BS because IF you play PVE than it HAS to be ANY and EVERY part of PVE INCLUDING afk grinding and such stuff, which effectively is made impossible via stupid and crazy dev decisionsâŚ
I CANNOT mine effectively and rewarding if all i have to do is watch the screen waiting for the moment some overpowered and âi kill you in 10 secondsâ npc appears and you have to warp away in 5 seconds or you are deadâŚ
Mining CONTAINS tabbing out and doing something else while making money, otherwise no one does it like is the actual status.
2.A sandbox would make EVERYTHING possible and would NOT buff only one side and try to scare away all othersâŚ
As a result this game is FAR away from a healthy status and the devs are just clapping themselves on the shoulder congratulating each other about the âgoodâ work they have done killing their own gameâŚ
Strange, many 2020 games arenât developing like that. As a result your attempt to define what a â2020âs game isâ is straight up wrong.
A sandbox also doesnât mean no rules and no Dev intervention.
No, it doesnât. The mining you want to do might, the mining other people want to do doesnât. You are talking about meta here, not game mechanics.
Literally impossible. Also the Devs donât just buff one side.
Really, you are tinfoiling here and inventing things in your own head to complain about.
lol
What ever games you are playingâŚit must be others than the ones i play.
Open world pvp is almost completely died out in todays gamesâŚ
Iâm talking about normal people, not about open world pvp fanboys, and THOSE people PREFER being undisturbedâŚ
Yes it is possibleâŚwas possible 2005 and is IMPOSSIBLE 2020?
Seriously?
And no one side buff?
So what is happening with all this overpowered npc crap is just to make the game âmore interestingâ?
Well mission failed i would say because it has EFFECTIVELY scared away 90% of all non pvpâersâŚ
Good job CCPâŚ
