Unhealthy event (Invasion chpt 3)

Incorrect

with that attitude i assure you, you will see this event die and it becomes a flop, just like every other “Live event” ive heard ccp hasnt followed through with fully.

whats the point in playing a game (an epic one at that) with little to no reward for effort put in? and right now i feel like the effort is faaaaaaar outweighing the rewards. but i digress ill keep pushing cause i will see it through.

The biggest problem I can see is … there is nothing more to come from what is there now.

I stopped being invested heavily in something like that because CCP has shown too often in the past, that there is no plan, just half-baked pieces assembled with the least possible effort.

I hope so, troglodytes versus edencom strikes me as utterly boring. Eve has far more interesting things going on every day.

thats your prerogative, i personally hope CCP suceeds and i think has been very sucessful with this event

:red_circle: The problem with that is that, even if nothing of substance followed, you still have to deal with null sec systems all over the high sec cluster. You cannot afford to not pay attention and wear yourself out on that crap if you do not want to one day be cut off from Jita or Amarr.

At the moment it is incredibly tiresome, incredibly unrewarding and an incredible waste of time and ISK. I lose more ISK on ammo and cap boosters than I can possibly make in ECs.

That is a load of BS you need to stop pushing. We had a fleet wiping out roaming Trig fleets as soon as they popped up. Of course the Amarr NPC’s will have the edge when there is no one there for them to fight.

Honestly, the more I watch this stuff unfold, the more I think the results are pre-determined. In Sakenta, we had three fleets running, two popping EC’s and MC’s as soon as they spawned and one wiping out roaming fleets. It was like we weren’t even there with the meter happily marching towards the trig side as fast as I’ve ever seen it.

I do agree with you on your original concern, this is an extremely unhealthy event for players. What makes it even crappier, is there no indication at all that any of this work will pay off in the end for either side.

OP:

  1. the level of commitment of players is not ruled by CCP. Nothing forces players to playfor several hours. They choose to do it or not.
  2. incentive and reward are not supposed to be the problem: you can play a game for fun, not for the reward, or it becomes a job. Or, i should say, victory can be the reward. There are other mmos where you don’t earn (nor loose) anything when you win or loose in pvp, and you respawn and come back to fight… just for the fight

triglavian side we felt the same way at times fully fleeted out we felt like zero progress was made. (lets be honest 5-6% increase in 7 hours is not healthy for anyone) :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m all for messing things up, but if there is no plan, those systems except from camping routes would become just dead. Raravoss and Vale will be forgotten very soon. Maybe CCP reverts everything back to highsec (with some Trig flavor) at the end of phase 3 … ok, this would be a reason to not telling us the plan.

But one they should capitalize on.

I mean really - who actually PAYS get blown up in a video game?
Oh, right… US.

It’s not like you can take your stuff with you, though.
Hell, it’s not even OUR stuff - It’s CCP’s.

–Gadget is just sayin’…

I think what it needs is this “battle royal” approach. Yeah I know, fortnight is cancer. But something along the lines of a “Live event denouement” where instead of what appears to be a pointless grind there are actual live events where things can turn rather fast. Not like a Sansha mom showing up sort of thing, like pre-content incursion live events - as fun as that was - but something staged and unannounced where player action on the spot has a worthy outcome.
I’m not sure if the developers have the resources for that. I think the “tools” for incursion live events used back in 2010 are long gone.
But it would be cool though. We need short historic and epic events, not mindless grinds.

The biggest issue behind the grind is CONCORD presence. Basically, both sides can just stare at each other and trashtalk in local, because if you try to engage the other side directly (like you would in, you know, a real war), CONCORD is going to arrive and put a quick stop to that. So the only way how to beat the opponent (EDENCOM or Trig) is to grind harder which gets irritating very fast.

One way to fix that would be, if the sec status drop happened to both Liminality and Redoubt/Bulwark, with Final Liminality progressing it further to null, while Fortress bumping it back to high sec.

That would make ECom victories non-existent )

Sorry, but Amarr NPC can push any system on their own ridiculously fast, since they hard counter Trigs in every possible way (bigger range, weapon disrupt, massive energy neut, damage profiles etc…).

What is making it even more frustrating is, that on multiple occasions I saw a player flying T2 fit Praxis and just solo conduits like there’s no tomorrow. On the other hand a 4-5 man fleet actually struggles with Forward Posts and Staging Areas in Amarr space.

I am all for home team having the advantage, but this ridiculous disparity, coupled with the fact that conduits generate 5-6 times more payout that Trig players get, creates massive levels of frustration.

Why is fairness a thing people expect in EvE all of a sudden?

As I wrote, I am fine with home team having advantage(s), but there is a difference between unbalanced fight and between smashing your head against a titanium wall…
