Version 21.02 - General Feedback

It is not worth giving up over this if you love the game so much. Right now I think the best you can do is to take a break from the game, possibly create a ticket and ask for a GM to freeze your omega time.
Check the official communications channels every now and then to keep yourself posted, like once a week or so. Eventually this whole charade will be over and we’ll have a functional customizable UI .

You could turn the monitors colours off and play in black and white see if that helps if does you no what causing it

what can i say, just what everyone else, this UI is very bad and it is unchanged from the “beta” version, CCP just ignored everyone that complained about the same thing, maybe when you are changing something this big and majority of players are complaining about the same thing, you should take them seriously

this new UI is not compact, there is so much free, unused space in windows, i complained about this when they enabled it for everyone the first time and it was ignored and as we can see, im not alone complaining about this… this UI has more problems than this and its surprising they are forcing this on everyone

this reminds me something, i was getting a new car and when i was checking out different cars, i found out that Volkswagen was using haptic (still using) on steering wheel and everyone hates that and after few years, they finally are dumping this after feedback from customers and new, facelifted models will have normal buttons…
@Brisc_Rubal just an example from real world, that bad idea can make it in the final product

im just happy that im not actively playing this game, just daily NPC kills

Thank you for speaking up Karma Bad and others who are now experiencing headaches and sickness post update. I have a story >>>
Thirty years ago in Tokyo sixty people suddenly went to the emergency room. Feeling ill, nausea, and vomiting. They all had one thing in common. They were in a crowd and had watched on a huge billboard sized TV a 10 second commercial. That ad had 50 seconds of flashing lights and action crammed into 10 seconds.

Photon UI has >>
Small and large boxes, lettering, and icons
Mixed dull and vibrant highlighting, words, and numbers
Lots and lots of animation and flashes for a ‘better experience’
The mind has to process all that information coming through your eyes. You are processing more information than what you realize.

Would it be correct to say EVE people who had no prior history of seizures and/or no eye problems are now experiencing sensory overload to focus on all this mix of information and inconsistency coming at them post update?
Do players find his update had created a health problem to them and others?
CCP needs to hear if this update is now a health problem to their players.
It’s not just eye strain but players are writing of feeling sick in other EVE chats and media here and likely in other social media. The word is spreading what some players are experiencing and feeling.
Is this something health officials would shutdown EVE/CCP ‘forced’ on their players until corrected?

CCP responses better not say this is news to them.
I remember when players got sick when CCP tried all that bright white bold letters three years ago. Players were outraged.
I remember seeing the players in a picture wearing 3D headsets as a CCP experiment when DUST was out. They were barfing their guts out watching so much ship motion.

Thank you all for speaking up. Thank you

I found something that might help.
Can um the game let me do it, Windows and the launcher will, but the game wont

The game seems to override the settings, Just wondering if there is a work around, to even try it, Also is it ideal No, but it would provide less visual stimulation till something could, in theory

Good God!

I am blown away what lengths players are trying find to get around from the new Photon UI features.
Wow

To me it’s not avoiding the new ui, it’s wanting to play eve. I don’t think the new ui was ready quite yet, but it’s good for the game long term.

Now do I think I would have prob stayed for the old ui longer given the chance even with more things added to it, prob

I personally prefer playing the game excel in space level of detail vs art bling. But I still do enjoy some bling texture sightseeing on high mode, but that isn’t personally what I play for.

Just wish I could have both, minimal play on a 13 in potato laptop and bling visuals with on the latest tech

(And the not getting sick part)

Hell if we add a wishlist how about a mostly static hanger, just swaps in you active ship and spin it around as a option, not the only, but a

Also after playing for 18 years of my life now, I’m not sure what I would do with my time if it was fully gone anymore

are you using a laptop or a desktop? if desktop you can adjust the colours on the monitor to just display black and white , if laptop then you need to go into colour blind mode in eve and turn off all colours except for black and white and change the colour filter also to black white grey

To CCP devs >>
What or when are your current plans to fix or modify the Photon UI issues?
What features are priority?
What do you need help from the EVE players for YOU to make Photon UI better for us?

There are a lot of smart players in this game. They are eager to help. I see a lot of potential in them all. They have a lot of talents. Call on them CCP.

A EVE friend just told me now I had helped many new players start in this game. A few had even returned not for the game but because I was in the game and they all remembered how I helped them when others didn’t or wouldn’t. That meant a lot to me more because they didn’t know I was nearly blind and done things others didn’t for them. Yeah … A near blind player was able to believe in and took time helping others.

CSM and CCP stop belittling the players in this General Feedback. As for the one who wrote that EVE players are ‘clueless’ and ‘complainers’ today - I’ll stand up and tell you now, “You’re wrong.”

Many players and I had wrote much on the issues we are having with this update. Some players are now getting sick. Their health concerns me. Call on the players what is priority for the fixes and improvements. They will answer. I believe in them. Answering my questions would be fantastic for the EVE players to know now. No I don’t want an answer from CSM because that person had wrote today they don’t represent EVE.

Given how little CCP communicates with the people on this important topic, it’s a miracle that people are still giving them feedback when most of it is ignored or not acted upon despite it clearly pointing out issues with the UI. The old UI was not perfect, but it never had these ridiculously stupid growing pains like cutting off text in windows where there’s tons of space available to display all the text. IT also did not deliberately and intentionally hide information from people behind useless buttons and tooltips. The old UI was much more informative and concise than Photon will likely ever be because more information density goes against its design principles, as per CCP.

The old UI was released in a much more refined state than Photon, while it wasn’t even tested by the players as long as Photon has been. The Patch Notes should be full with hundreds of lines of :handshake: Photon fixes based on all the feedback. But it isn’t. CCP doesn’t even bother to mark all the fixed problems that players pointed out with a :handshake:. When Swift says, they are listening to feedback, one has to wonder why their actions don’t speak the same language.

This was possible in the OLD old UI. CCP removed it and replaced it with Themes because they didn’t like that players created UIs that didn’t look like what they wanted EVE to look like. Themes allowed for far fewer customization options but at the very least you still had recognizable colors in the UI. Now CCP reduced the available options even further, and on top of it relegated colors to almost unnoticeable stripes of light and removed any colors from everywhere else in the windows. Your trust in them giving us rainbow wheel color selection for the UI is based in delusion, not reality.

CCP: Photon has no Issues.

so, I CBA to read the whole thread, so this might’ve already been suggested, but If you could pretty please make it possible to turn flashy chat tabs on like how it used to be, that’d be great. It’s quite hard to tell which channels have unread posts the way it is now, with the teeny tiny orange line under the tab.

Most players silently left during blackout and scarcity BS. People not speaking up on the forums is not exactly a reliable metric.

Maybe CCP should listen to feedback from those of us who are still stupid enough to believe that they will change something rather than waiting for numbers to plummet and then come back crawling asking what is wrong with the game. Unlike them, we actually play eve and there is a lot of us so it’s very likely that we will arrive at better solutions due to sheer capacity.

Have you thought about communicating? Saying what is going on, what was logic behind changes, and so on? People are mad because it feels that we are talking to a wall, especially as worst offending parts of Photon UI (amazing waste of screen space) was ignored for ages, and is still not being handled properly. Not to mention hiding things behind drop down menu and “compact” mode being just less functional mode.

With some communication back and forth, the tone would be significantly different.

People are mad because they don’t like things changing. Many of the people complaining now refused to use the new UI when it was in preview so didn’t give feedback at all. The people here that claim it’s objectively bad, that CCP are terrible and that it’s “not ready” are also not helping because none of that is constructive, actionable feedback.

You say the feedback that was given was “ignored” but you’re talking about preference here. Remember you’re not the only person giving feedback, and the few people complaining are also not the only people giving feedback. It may simply be the case that changes you want weren’t made because feedback from other users countered yours.

I’ve been using the new UI since it was made available and I really like it. There were problems earlier on and there are still problems now for sure, as there always will be in changes this big, but it’s clear the devs are listening to feedback and improving the UI. It just may not be that they listen to your specific demands over all other players.

Have you thought that maybe they have had enought of it ? They have seen years and years of bad changes and there is so much a person can take…
Have you thought that maybe the new UI is of such bad design that has driven those that under normal circumstances wouldn’t be “loud” , to now become “loud” ?

I don’t like your life phylosophy and logic sir. According to you if I see a car heading towards my direction with fast speed , I should “make my peace with it, because I could see it was coming” , instead of actually getting out of its way… i should just give up…

Just as you , I want us out of this mess ASAP and for everyone to be happy with the new UI , but I just have this feeling it ain’t going to happen very soon.

It is objectively bad UI if it makes life significantly more difficult for certain playstyles that worked very well before. You can give any excuse you want but if things are more difficult (for some subset of players) than with the old UI then it is a change for the worse.
Of course CCP can go “our way or highway” but that’s how we got to these anaemic numbers of people playing. Every time someone’s playstyle is declared unimportant some of those people leave and that is hardly good for CCP or for the players.

Obvious flaws are NOT ‘Fear of change’…

CCP had a year to adapt the ui,but they decided to NOT listen to given feedback and tried to run through the concrete wall that was build before it head first…

The really sad part is that they think to be absolutely right with that decision.
They seemingly had their hands over their ears and were blinded by the bright blue colors of the ‘new’ and ‘best ui ever’ and now the concrete wall shows that it is not penetrable at all… OUCH CCP…

Will they learn from it and paddle the boat back?

I don’t think so,would surprise me…ccp can,out of definition,do no mistakes…any flaws seen with the new ui are declared to ‘fear for something new’ and can be ignored…

Well…easy tactic…

The 3 apes…don’t hear,don’t see,don’t talk…

I tried on my monitors, they are old enough, that all they can modify is RGB, TY for the idea, your the 2nd person last night to ask

The new UI is not great but frustration and perseverance and I can get used to it. Just bring back the flashy chat windows
