Version 23.01 - Legion - General Feedback

  • Harbinger Navy Issue

    • Powergrid increased from 1550 MW to 1625 MW.

The Harbinger Navy Issue is underused so we’re giving it some PG to open up a few more fits. Combined with the changes to armour rigs and the other dominant battlecruisers being knocked down a bit, we hope this will make this a more attractive pick.

Ok CCP, explain something to me.

If that bit in bold comes true, what happens then when the normal bitching starts?

Do you just nerf it, or buff something else to make that more attractive in turn?

Armor Rigging 5 is now mandatory on any character that ever plans to use an armor rig.

What kind of flag do you get now with safety set to red?

You don’t get a flag. You just can accidently get yourself exploded via concord.

Nice Freelance Job. Multi items break the UI in several ways:

  • You don’t see the individual items to compare prices on the market.
  • The market price indicator for how good the job’s price is compared market value is missing

I would also suggest that in future, any ship/module changes are also put in a table at the bottom of the notes as having all the changes shotgunned about the patch notes doesn’t exactly help convey what changes are being made easily. With the font size choices in recent patch notes also makes it hard to find stuff without making it look like you are trying to hide them

If I can get the info that I need about ship changes from Hoboleaks in a clearer manner than your own patch notes, then the format of your patch notes needs to adjust.

In regard to Lancers: They barely ever show up on grids that aren’t either a stargate you can instantly jump through (you don’t get a weapons timer for shooting npc’s) or a station which you can instantly dock at (which is what people who farm them do to avoid the doomsday) and you have to aggro them first in any case. Even when they do appear in belts for example, they are cruisers with a totally different looking icon than the majority frigate npc’s you’ll ever encounter. A much better change would have been to just change them from red to say, grey which would be consistent with their behavior just the same as grey faction npc’s which will also murder you if you decide to start shooting at them..

In regard to Diamond Rats: Diamond rats only ever get you if your AFK and more often only show up because you decided to shoot at an npc miner, which unlike Lancers are typically not red on your overview so you definitely had to make a conscious decision there.. and even in the former case of roaming diamond rats, I’ve literally watched an idiot streamer in a completely untanked terribly fit Orca get himself tackled by one and right as he was getting into hull and he’d all but given up the rats just for no reason at all decide to just stop tackling him and he escapes. The only times I’ve heard of people actually dying to them are if they either were trying to fight them on purpose or were really REALLY AFK.. a better fix would have been to simply make the roaming ones not tackle, that way people at the keyboard have plenty of time to react to them.

Glad that the Sin and the Svipul/Confessor are in the same patch.

Sin was “buffed” with drone logi bonus a few years ago as it was the least used blops. Surprise or not, it made no difference, not many ppl want to use drone logi for blops. Good news, after a few years, a buff given (and reverting the prior failed attempt) that sort of makes sense and even fitting into the Gallente line.

Well for Svipul and Confessor.. I failed to see that additional logi bonus will make them competitive, also considering that no capacitor bonus associated. So to me, it is a new “sin story”, few years and svipul/confessor will be back.

There are changes in my view makes some sense, and other that seems to be absurd. ESS related things .. makes sense, marauder change probably makes sense .. but please try to make a competitive BC from harbinger navy because that pwd addition will not move the ship on the list. Armor changes questionable to me .. having a little more speed and lose align time .. neither fleet nor solo game play i see it as a buff.

Magmatic gas prices were really low (I am on buyer side, not seller). Gas production has no “cost”, sellers are not driven by break even. Unless the market balance fully turned around (less gas produced than used) .. I see a brief price increase then it will drop down again. Yes, maybe if makes a bit more expensive to operate metenox .. don’t see that it will have impact on moongo prices as ppl will remove loss producing metenox which is likely low tier moons anyway. The whole moon and mining concept is broken by metenoxes, income previously collected by individuals redistributed to corporate/organizations. While I do not mine .. I can see why miners are complaining.. or are there miners still?

All in all, my biggest disappointment that I do not see the deep considerations, real-(game)life use cases .. and concept.

I haven’t heard many complaints from guys who actually shoot those things. They know how to avoid the doomsday. However, I have heard complaints (understatement) from players who didn’t shoot at anything, were minding their own business at a station, and got doomsday-d because somebody else shot the drifters. That’s how some people have lost their ships I take it.

It hasn’t happened to me, but it sounds like if you happen to be so unlucky as to undock or dock exactly at the time the doomsday is activated (not really sure if they can doomsday right on the station?) and if you happen to be in a pretty expensive ship then you’re gonna end up losing it completely unexpectedly and for nothing you yourself did. New players would probably find that very confusing.

Still, they should have kept the lancers at least. Remove the doomsday from high sec then, if that was such a problem.

I agree but only in the Jove Observatory. For them to be roaming around system and scanning players and other objects on grid is weird and confusing to new players especially when they show as hostiles by default.

It doesn’t make much sense to have lancers in high sec now considering the lore, the Drifters just lost their Hives, they should be focused on that and not randomly scanning things in high sec.

hmm, we experienced a strange behaviour of the Drifter Recon Battleship in C5 Combat Anomalies (Baby Drifter / Subcap Drifter).

  • Usually we used to scram+web him heavily and when he was basically immobile, we pounded him to death. Today he activated MWD and accelerated to more than 1200m/s even while under 5 points of scramble and a webber. That shouldn’t be possible, because he never did that before.

  • Also he is going to eat Drones like mad. And I really mean that, Medium ones, Heavy ones… eaten like snacks every few seconds. That makes killing them with a DroneFleet (Ishtars, Eos etc…) significantly harder. Not sure if that is intentional (I wouldn’t mind, I just wonder if his AI was upgraded).

Chess

A game that has stood the test of time with minimal maker interference… hardly any patches… played by millions…. still awesome to this day

EVE

A game that was awesome at the start of itself… patched every 3 months… At this stage, I am calling it for what it is… EVE is getting Funcomed the same way Funcom did its own The Secret World thing….

I’ve been looking at these new fire animations on ships … aren’t they supposed to be dynamic? Not really as they always spawn at the same locations. In the past, I attributed that to how I shot the ships, but just now I noticed that this does not add up.

For instance, on the Apoc (the Blood Raider NPC ships) the flames always appear at the aft portion of the ship even if I primarily shoot the front or side of the ship. This is not dynamic and not comparable to the actually dynamic appearance of armor damage on the parts of the ships that weapons actually hit.

Noticed this also with sentry drones getting walloped in normal anomalies. Sure their sig radius is larger than some ships but the agro changes are off the wall.

Who let CCP Rise into the production codebase?

Considering how many aura effects are in the game based on location - i am curious why they just didnt apply a debuff to large weapons and modules such as mjd in side the ESS. Im baffled as to why a very minor number of people who actually use ESS have managed to really gimp t2 BS use for every other area of space.

Im still not following the logic - you have these tools and pretty much pick the worst way to manage something considering the claim is ESS issues. Talk about 1D thinking.
