What do you feel is a simple change that could increase our playbase?

How can one "accidentally"disable a popup? The least one can do is speedread it, it’s clear that it’s asking “Are you sure…?” Now if someone just clicks on things without bothering to know what he’s clicking then yea, it’s bound to be confusing at some point.
I don’t think there is anyone who starts this game without being at least a little confused. I still am about a lot of stuff even though I get informed about the game online. I spent my first day online instead of in the game.

That’s where you lost me. What old map?
What is a “hexagonal system tracking”?

I haven’t noticed besides that it takes a long time to highlight the new home station.

I shall have to check that one out. Do I need to be in faction warfare to see that map or how can I access it?

You can do the same in EVE, open the map, show colours based on security stdtus or any other metric, rightclick the system to see the planets and stations, etc. A lot of information can be found without even going near a system.

The Agency gives a lot of information too, but not everything, everywhere.

For example it sure would be nice if people could use the Agency to see all wormholes popping up in their null sec region from their current sysrem in order to roll them for additional safety, but I don’t think such information would be good for the game.

If you want to know more about what’s going on in certain systems, you’ll have to fly there to see for yourself. I think it’s more healthy to have people flying around for opportunities than if people can automatically get all that information while docked up.

Huh. Interesting opinion for a new player to hold.

me who’s working on plexing my account

Me who wish’s that gas sites could be in there

also bro you can’t do that the games economy relays on players making items

The only reason safety settings exist is high sec, it has little to no purpose outside HS.

The reason it exists is to protect newbies from accidentally taking an illegal or criminal action they didn’t want to do.

If you remove the red button you might as well remove CONCORD.

so they say.

Longer more exciting tutorial with information that websites publish but better explained with tips and tricks ( like bookmarks…), missions to get skillbooks ( instead of telling the new player that without isk his game experience will be ruined - no wonder the game is filled with greedy Isk-lovers ) and a mission to Null Security ( kind of a goose chase ending in the player’s ship destruction ) and sending the noob back to Air station where more things are explained about combat vs other players and NPC’s, correct fits for ships, the scan window…

The PC gaming market isn’t casual. The gaming COMPANIES are casual. They want to make the most money with the least effort so they only try to appeal to the casual market while simultaneously gaslighting you into thinking the market is casual.

Proof? The most popular game mode is BR. Literally open world, hardcore, survival, PvP. COD can release all the multiplayer COD games they want but everyone goes right back to BR once the hype fades. More proof? Wow classic. Considerably more hardcore than retail WoW. The release was SO trash and it still POPPED OFF.

Gaming companies just don’t want to put in the effort when they could simply make a mobile game and make just as much money with WAYYY less effort. CCP is no different.

So it is

It was clear

That’s a nice opinion you got there

Surely you must realize gamers run a gamut from casual to obv sweaty l33t people such as yourself

@Gerard_Amatin
Yes this is true on your perspective.

But its rather annoying when I can signature hunt halfway across the cluster, and PI within about what was it 9 lightyears? Using the Agency.

But I can’t see combat/mining anoms unless I am 1-2 Jumps away? Does that make sense?

Factoring the fact that 3rd Party systems can give information including my ship fit. [Which I think is not okay] And the data for capsuleers in system 30min and 1 hour is on extreme delay. I think there needs to be changes to the Agency and Map systems.

The Color Coding…as in the new Faction Warfare system seems alot more visually understable, than the dot color system. Its much easier to figure out the situation on the map.

I especially would like the Agency and Map to start synching up a bit better, allowing for more efficient scouting and fleet movement/planning/ content planning.

I think the Combat Sites and Mining Anoms Agency Range can be buffed to the PI level…IE 9 light year range. It will keep it contained to a specific sphere of affect, without going bonkers like Cosmic Signatures which are Cluster Wide detection and tracking…which can be done remotely. And when scanned down will stay on the agency until they despawn or are completed.

@Armorica_Pulchra the “Hex System” is an older system for tracking conflict and contested systems both in nullsec and faction warfare. Its an option on the old map, you can activate on the new map a similiar thing but it takes some finicking the options. Contested systems the HEX in question “Blinks” denoting conflict. It broke down New Eden Space into Hexagonal Squares of action.

Currently SISI is the only place to see the new faction warfare map system they are wargaming it, for PLEX. I would be on there, but my computer is in the shop at the moment.

Well. Not entirely. As a high-sec industrialist, when scarcity took kernite and omber away and everything I enjoy doing was made more difficult, my indy accounts have been unsubbed for about 2 years now. But I still come to the forums every 3-4 months to gauge the pulse of the community, check pcu trends, etc. You know, just to see if the madness has ended. It appears that today this is still not the case. But if you told me that all the belts were back and I could get back to the boring, belt grindfest I do actually miss, I’d be tempted to resub. And I’m probably not alone.

Also, 2 things:

  1. For whoever is advocating squeezing high-sec even further and making life there more difficult while simultaneously shifting more and more goodies to low and null…I mean, comeon already. That is not bringing players back. Not this one at least. It’s about the worst thing you could tell me, actually.

  2. Removing pvp from high-sec is a terrible idea. Every player undocked is engaged in pvp whether they agree or acknowledge this fact. It’s a foundational principle of the game. Is this ever happens, it will be a paradigm shift into something wholly different. But it won’t be EVE.

Anyway. My 2 cents.

My worst fear when the Agency was introduced was that it would remove the sense of exploring space. That the need to fly out there to see space for yourself would be replaced with searching sites from a UI accessible even while docked in a station.

In fact, I’m glad the visible anomaly range is 1-2 jumps, which in my opinion is still bigger than we should have.

Finding anomalies should be done with ships in space, not in yet another UI tab.

As to the difference with PI information: anomalies are temporary and small, while planets are -next to suns- the largest objects we can find in this game. And they are permanent.

If we couldn’t browse planets ingame through the Agency we’d do it in the ingame map or via a 3rd party database anyway as that information is static, so that’s a completely different situation than flying through space to find anomalies.

Talking about third party tools…

Zkillboard gives information not about your current ship, but about previous ships you may have lost.

If you want to surprise people with your ship fit, you could try flying with a different fit than the last time you died.

Hmm let’s see simple change… -2 sec status to every system in the game :D.
I’m sure ccp can make a script for it.

It’s fair thou, when I was a beginner I used to do exploration in assault frigs in high and low. No cloak on it and never really died either.

I can understand cloak on maybe a relic hunting ship in a wh or a t3c who runs ded’s in other peoples space, but other than that the cloak is a bit overkill.

Especially with the latest change where people cant afk in space cloaked up for an hour.

Carebears just demoralize new players.

Nobody needs any of that nonsense.

How do you feel a bout the latest anti-gank changes btw?
I’m guessing it doesn’t effect you at all.

You can think it’s not okay, but you’ll never stop this. People like me, who go out and get the kills, are just going to start manually pasting kills and/or screenshots of them as proof on kill boards even if the API feed is disabled. And if the ability to keep track of stats is disabled entirely (e.g. no more kill mails), then many PvPers are just going to straight-up quit.

People have asked for kill mails to be disabled in the past, under the guise of “promoting exploration and activity” (but with the real underlying reason being a more safe EVE), and it has been shot down every time.

Your grindfest is still there—it never went away. All you have to do is trade what you mine for what you need from other players. You’re putting an artificial mental handicap on yourself that tells you that if you’re going to use a mineral, it has to necessarily come from your own mining laser, otherwise it’s not “free.” Well, no, you can just mine double the Veldspar now, and trade half of it for the Omber that you need, or whatever.
